House Alarm

I have been a good customer for over 7 years with Alarm Force. Moving house, so had to cancel my contract. They charged me over $400 to buy out the rest of their ridiculously long 3 year contract, with no flexibility to reduce the fee on their behalf. Will NEVER use this company again with these archaic rules, and would not recommend them. I note from the other reviews on Homestars that their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Plenty of other companies to buy from.

Alarm System

This security system is garbage.... do not use this product.... i had this security system for about 2 year.... i was broken into last February where the person came through my balcony door..... when they came in i assume that alarm went off because a neighbor heard it...... the burglar unplugged that systems box/speaker/plastic garbage that is the heart and sole of the system.... from the phone line and that was that like seriously its that easy to deactivate the alarm what a joke...... luckily my neighbor called 911.... i got a call from the police not from alarm force so i rushed home..... my whole house was trashed....(burglar was later caught trying to rent a car with one of my credit cards loser)when i called alarm force they told me they had no alarm received from my house then proceeded to tell me i probably didn't sent my alarm.... i know i did i always do... and how do you called this system "monitored" if the system can be unplugged and no one knows the next day i had ADT come in to set up a new system that is actually monitored

Hi Colin,
We have been a trusted security provider for many years and pride ourselves in our monitoring and the level of effective security we provide. Your message is concerning and I would like to look into this and determine exactly what happened. With our system the situation you described should not have happened. Please email me at marketing@alarmforce.com with your account information and I will look into this immediately. Thanks,
Matt

alarm service

Do not utilize this service. Read all negative comments as all have words of truth. I obtained this serve when another vendor increased their monitoring costs. For the price and what they offered, I felt it reasonable. I had serious problems after installation when my phone began going out and internet problems arose. I had to call my phone/internet service on a regular basis due to outages. My at home work depends on phone and internet connectivity. This almost ruined my business. Frequent calls to Alarm Force for code 10 and code 13 errors were met with hostility and lack of concern. They were very condesending; "Put a battery in it; there's nothing we can do." Only after I informed them that i was getting another vendor did they express interest. By that time I had selected another service. Upon installation, I was informed that the reason for my phone/internet problems was that the installer had installed the Alarm Force system into the ADT system and failed to disconnect ADT. The Alarm Forcepeople have since informed me that it was my responsibility to disconnect ADT. DUH! They also informed me that due to a contract I had to pay them for another year of service; which I have. They even tried to continue drafting my account after the contract ended. I had to put a freeze on my bank account to keep them out. They sent me a bill for over $500 saying they wanted their equipment back.Well..another of my complaints was that the sensors continued to fall off the doors. ATT installed my system and discarded ADT and Alarm Force. The keypad was a piece of trash as were the sensors. Because i didn't seen them the $500 they have increased the bill to over $900 and say they will turn it over to collection to ruin my credit. They call, they write, they threaten. I have called to speak to a supervisor only to be told that the supervisor is unavailable, on another call or just have refused to let me speak to anyone except "PEGGY." As a result I have obtained the phone/internet service records from my provider and am in the process of writing the Attorney General for the State of North Carolina with my concerns. No one should be bullied, threatened or coerced into accepting shoddy installations/ service or snotty customer service that ends up causing the customer inconvenience, loss of revenue or home security. I have no intention of paying any money and they can pull the pennies off my dead eyes if they want any money from me....ever.

Company Response

Hi Yoleeta,
I am sorry to hear of this experience as the service you describe is not the high-quality service we strive to provide every customer. The installer and tech support representatives should have been able to resolve the issues you were having with the system and advised you to ensure the previous system was disconnected. As far as the equipment, we do maintain ownership as it allows us to keep monthly costs low and we feel the equipment is of no real use to a customer if it is not being monitored. As our equipment was 'discarded' in this case you're liable to cover the costs. This is the same as it would be if you had thrown out a cable providers cable box. We do apologize for this unfortunate situation and I would be happy to look further into your account to determine a resolution. To-do-so you will need to email mdept@alarmforce.com with your account information (full name, address, phone number). Thanks,
Matt

Alarm System Service

Our system was setting off alarms to the monitoring station in error. Raymond, the technician, was dispatched to our house to fix the problem. He was prompt and courteous. Replaced the faulty door sensor. Also checked and tested all the other sensors to make sure they are OK. No charge for this call either.

Home Alarm

I could not be less satisfied with ANY service or product. Yes, they do have an unbelievable marketing department and that is why you are considering their service. Trust me. You are literally throwing away your money. Do not, under any circumstances, believe that this system is useful for anything other than telling your insurance company that you have an alarm. You will not be "protecting" your family in any way whatsoever.

Hi Craig,
We're sorry that you did not find our system useful but to most of our customers it provides great peace-of-mind. Every year we voice-threaten burglars out of customers homes and dispatch police to interrupt burglaries.Of course, we hope that our decal and lawn signs are enough to prevent a burglary in the first place but having a monitored system with two-way voice really does protect homes and families for when a break-in happens. Please email us at marketing@alarmforce.com if there is anything we can do. Thanks.

Alarm Force Security

Nov 2010 - Order AlarmForce security.
The property had no landline or cell phone signal. Tech installed a "control unit". Never, ever worked correctly. After dozens of false alarms technician came to home and removed motion sensor saying a spider must be setting it off.
April 2011 - Gave up on AlarmForce. Paid the complete 3 year monthly fee to end contract. through Nov 2013.
March 2014 - receive a call from them wanting payment since November 2013 - My fault - I just sent a letter with the check for the remaining 31 months of service. Being honest, I did pay them and went through the hassle of getting the cancellation confirmation email. Equipment was returned in March 2014.
October 2014 - Get a call saying I have a balance on my account for $300 + because the control unit and motion sensor where not returned. I honestly can't guarantee the unit was there so I offered to pay the $200 for it just to get these guys off my back. No!! They said they must be paid for the $99 motion sensor that they didn't receive. This I know was taken but the tech - So, they get nothing and proceed as they wish - Please read all reviews before you consider dealing with these people.

Home Security

We had an alarm at around 2pm one day while I was out of the country. My wife was contacted by Alarm Force and informed about the about the alarm. Even though we are paying $3.25 per month for "Gaurd Service" no one responded and my wife ended up having to go into our house by herself to determine if there had been a break in or not. The next day, we had another alarm. Again, Alarm Force did nothing other than leave a voice mail message on both of our phones. No private security showed up, no police showed up. We know that no one showed up because we have a number of video cameras set up around our house connected to a digital video recorder. UNBELIEVABLE!!! We might as well not even have an alarm system! We tried a number of times to speak to someone in customer service at Alarm Force and we also left voice messages with our phone numbers. More than a week has passed and no one has returned our calls. We're going to talk to a lawyer tomorrow about our case for breach-of-contract as Alarm Force have clearly breached their contract with us and have failed not once but twice to fulfill their obligations.

Product and Service of Alarm Force

Please, BE CAREFUL with Alarm Force. I had Alarm Force (AF) system needed a phone line. When I had no phone line, I still could "ARM" and "DISARM" everyday from the control unit in my home, but I did not know that there was NO CONNECTION to the control center of AF system ( maybe for 2 years). With no phone line, the AF system must be dead, but IT WAS NOT. When does any customer know that the AF system is dead and no connection to the control center of AF? How can AF prove that AF is monitoring customer's home after you "ARM" the system in you house? And When will AF inform customer that there is no connection to the control center of AF? You can check the AF connection today, but you cannot check it every minute. How does the AF system prove that it is protecting your home today and tomorrow? Please, THINK TWICE WHENEVER you want to have it!

Alarm force

Buyer beware. I was a customer of there's for almost 15months. I then sold my property and the purchaser wanted my alarm system. When I contacted alarm force in asking what would happen. They explained it was completely fine as long as the new owners took over the remainder of my contract. Which they did. Then once I settled into my new property I called to get a new system. Spent over an hour with the sales person picking the equipment I'd like to be later transferred over to tech support where I got told... Basically sucks to be you. You're an existing customer so you're not eligible for a new contract sign up. The extra equipment I wanted is 50% off for new customer however not old ones that want a new 3 year contract. What a joke. I later called back to speak with a manager to make sure this was for real and got told yes. Alarm force there's 30 other companies that out there. You've lost me as a repeat customer and I'll be sure to spread the word. I was so disappointed with the way I was treated after being a customer for as long as I was. I would not recommend anyone on going with them

Alarm Package

Nothing but issues and problems ( alarm randomly turning on, motion sensors not working) since we installed in July but despite our calls, AF has no record of any issues so won't send a tech. Customer Care isn't any more help in resolving issues. They just place the blame game between departments. The installation looks like it was done cheap. It's too bad that this company doesn't live up to their end of the contract yet expects you to continue to pay for bad service for 3 years. How is the customer protected in these things?
