Open Sesame

Our 40 year old garage door fell off its rails into a pile of rubble on New Years Day. My husband and I had to put a tarp over the gaping hole to try to secure our snowblower and other property. Steve answered my calls and showed up on Jan 2nd to provide an estimate. He arrived on Monday with the new door and installed it. He even replaced a broken window at no charge. There was no problem getting him to return when the door needed adjustments due to frost/thaw activity. A simple phone call and he appeared happy to help. I really appreciated that he didn't take advantage of us when we had absolutely no recourse but to buy a new door ASAP.

Steve is the owner and still does most of the work including evenings and weekends. Straight shooter and honest. Very knowledgable about his business and meticulous about quality of goods and work. He was the last one out of 7 companies I contacted and the only one to return my call, answer my questions, give me a fair quote and talked to me without an attitude. He is in high demand and his jobs are a little backed up but he will deliver; his word is good.

Garage door spring broke - quick call to Open Sesame - talked to Steve and next day service was scheduled. Great guy, no salesmanship involved unless I requested it. Job was done with impeccable care, and I'm happy to say that Steve from Open Sesame is now part of my roster of people to call and recommend.

Steve and his crew arrived as scheduled. They replaced the broken cable promptly, tested everything and provided excellent advice for maintenance. They also never tried to push any products we didn't need. Very good!

Steve came out, completely replaced a busted garage door. The job ended up being way more than was expected but Steve and Phillip installed a great new door, stuck to the original estimate and were tidy and somehow cheerful. If all replacements, installations and services were like this, there would be no stress when things breakdown...

Our garage remotes had both stopped working and then one of our garage doors would not close. Steve and his partner arrived at our home just a few hours after we had called. They were extremely thorough and identified the problems, explained the issues to us, and then fixed them. Our experiences with this company are always great, and we find dealing with Steve to be a very pleasant experience.

I phoned Steve about installing a garage door opener at my father's home. Since he had an older single piece garage door I was not sure whether or not it could be done. Steve was extremely knowledgeable and could tell from my description and the age of the house what was needed. He and his partner Phil arrived on time and were very courteous and a pleasure to have do the job. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I am extremely pleased with and impressed by the service provided by Steve and Phil. They were very knowledgeable, polite, reasonable, neat, and punctual. They took the extra time needed to replace the tension spring properly unlike the two other garage door contractors that I dealt with in the past. I would highly recommend Open Sesame to others and would gladly use them again if necessary.

I had Steve install a new jackshaft opener and raise the track on my door. The work was done perfectly and I was very impressed with Steve's professionalism and service. I would recommend his service highly. I only wish all trades people were like him!

The garage opener chain broke free. I called Steve, based on the reviews here on Homestars and he came when promised and fixed the problem for a very reasonable price. When it broke again two days later, Steve came within an hour of my calling him. Turned out to be a different cause from the first time. Steve then went over the opener carefully and found 2 other components that would have broken sooner or later. The builder who installed the opener had really botched the job.
Steve didn't charge for the second visit.
