Either completely incompetent or just rip-off artists.
I called them to repair a Samsung electric clothes dryer that was overheating and provided them with the error message and mentioned that I had Google'd the error code and that the problem might be a $12 replacement part (Thermistor). The dispatch person ignored this suggestion and told me that someone would have to come to look at the dryer and a standard fee would apply.
The repair person arrived, gave an initial assessment that a full diagnostic should be done (costing more than $200) and that parts would be extra. At this time I once again mentioned what I had found in 10 minutes of searching on Google & I suggested that it could be the Thermistor. The repair person once again ignored this suggestion and recommended that we proceed with the "full diagnostics" process.
After about 20 minutes he called me down to the basement and advised me that all diagnostics he had ran came back fine and that all parts were operational. He said he had reset the controller board and advised cleaning the lint trap and dryer exhaust.
A short time later the dryer stopped heating up at all and would just spin with no heat and displayed the same error code. I decided to order the suspect part online and watched a few videos on similar dryer repairs and replaced the part myself.
Disassembling the dryer and removing the part took me around 45 minutes. Replacing the part and reassembling the dryer took me around 15 minutes. I'm sure that an experienced repair person could have replaced this part in less than 30 minutes.
The fact that both the dispatch person and the onsite repair person ignored the manufacture diagnostic information and associated fix is in my opinion, unprofessional. The fact that the repair person spent the same amount of time that it should have taken to repair the dryer and still did not fix it makes me think that either he was not correctly trained or experienced (incompetent) or worse, that this was a purposeful attempt at charging for a service with no intention of actually fixing the problem.
I would not use this service again or recommend them to anyone.
