Unable to Buy Out Contract

I wanted to buy out our Enercare hot water heater contract. I'm not sure why we got involved with them in the first place, but that's beside the point. (Side note: it was not worth the money.)

After 40 minutes on hold and several transfers, the representative used a bunch of "scare tactics" about the consequences of canceling my contract. They then offered me a 3-month free credit, followed by a 6-month free credit to try and get me to stay.

Despite repeatedly stating that I just wanted to buy out the contract, they put me on hold again (a classic stalling tactic). When they finally returned, they said the buyout invoice would appear in the next 1-2 billing cycles, and they would continue to bill me monthly for the rental. Being able to buy it out immediately would save me $80, so I insisted on buying it out TODAY. Finally, they agreed and said it would appear on my bill in 1 to 2 business days.

This company is awfulif my mother or grandmother had to deal with them, they would have never been able to achieve the same outcome.

Incompetent

The above amount is what I had to pay to have an electrician come to my home and correct what Enercares technician screwed up during an annual maintenance check. Unbeknownst to me he wired my furnace and air conditioner together and had them both going all winter.
I did not realize this as my windows were closed during the winter and didnt hear air conditioner going until I opened the windows in spring. The technician that came out informed me that whoever did the maintenance in January had scrambled the wires. When I called Enercare to complain they had a special on Air conditioning service Hmmmm what a coincidence.

PLUMBING/DRAIN ISSUE

Alex the plumber was terrific. I was very pleased with his knowledge, work ethics, and friendliness. The work I needed done, there was a possibility that if anything went wrong, it could cause water damage. I understood his concerns, and he was willing to try fixing my problem. He did without any incident.
I have had two other plumbing technicans from other companies, and they refused to even try to fix it in case they caused further damage. I needed to change out the drain pop up stopper in the bathtub, as it corroded. Enercare plumbing technican let me know it may cause
possible water damage, but as long as I was willing to chance it, he was willing to try and did so successfully. Alex is a confident plumbing
technican in his ability to get the job done.

Duct Cleaning

Easy to book. Shaun, the technician arrived on time. He was very polite and explained exactly what the duct cleaning process is about. He showed respect to the home and its occupants, gave some helpful advise and did a very professional job. As he predicted, it took two hours and we are now breathing cleaner air at home.

Terrible Company with Poor Customer Service

My water heater (rental on contract) rusted and was deemed not repairable by Enercare. They gave me the option to replace the heater with a new rental (a NEW contract - not the replacement of the heater with the remaining years left on the old contract). I decided to purchase the heater outright to avoid being beholden to Enercare for the foreseeable future.

It has been three months now and I continue to be billed for the rental water heater I no longer have. Customer service is an absolute joke... You'll spend an hour on hold and being transferred only to be told they've put in a "request". Yet we continue to receive the same bill.

Avoid this company at all costs. Use a local plumber and avoid the hassle of having to interact with this terrible company.
