I booked my move with House of Movers, which included putting down a $300 deposit. It was written right on my invoice, and noted in an email, that if I provided two weeks notice, I could cancel and have my deposit returned. Due to a family emergency, I emailed Alex to request that the move date be changed. A number of days went by with no response, and the phone number for the company had a full voicemail. After a week or so, I was told that Alex was out of the office for personal reasons and would look into it. However, another week went by with no response or confirmation about rescheduling. I could no longer wait, and had to find another moving company. I provided notice to House of Movers that I was cancelling with them, and requested the return of my deposit.

Suddenly, Alex was back in the office - she advised she was sick, and there was no one to cover for her (for multiple weeks). I advised that I understood and was sorry for her health issues, but that I can't trust my move to a company that has no one answering the phone or emails for weeks. She then claimed that if I cancelled for this reason, I may not get my deposit back. There were absolutely no caveats like this discussed when I paid the deposit - I gave more than two weeks notice, and I am entitled to the return of my deposit. Since then, House of Movers has ignored all emails from me.

I SINCERELY suggest not booking with this company. They are unreliable and seem not to be legitimate.

Absolutely terrible experience from pick up to drop off - please do not trust this company with your belongings!

Our scheduled pick up was late and the movers were grumpy and couldnt communicate. They took 7 hours to slowly pack up our house and added extra fees for materials we were told were included such as mattress covers and tape. They rejected certain items because of their shape and didnt wrap all of our furniture in the blankets that were supposed to be included.

The move took 38 days! We had no updates along the way and when I called I kept getting new estimates that were further out. During this time my family and our baby were staying at family members houses and racking up hotel fees. The company had no sympathy and just made more excuses. The invoice was late and included additional fees, when this company had promised no hidden fees.

Delivery was also 4 hours late. When they arrived they knocked down the internet cable and told me I had to call the municipality to have it reconnected. That was wrong; I had to call all service providers to find out whos line it was and then beg them to reconnect it. It took hours of me being on the phone and we were without internet our first week in our new home.

That part didnt matter so much because we were busy sifting through the rubble the movers ditched in our basement and living room. Every piece of furniture dented or scratched. Boxes of wine glasses and mugs were broken. I saw the inside of the truck and boxes were literally open and dumped on the floor and they asked me for a new box to scoop my kitchen appliances into. Boxes that Id carefully labelled fragile and this side up and heavy were upside down with heavy boxes on top. Our trailer lights were smashed, leather chair ripped, dresser missing wheels, coffee table dented, tv boxes crushed and water damaged. These movers had one job- to move peoples valuable items by truck- and they took no care with any of it. It was devastating and infuriating to see our belongings treated this way. We were heartbroken. When asked why they were in this condition the lead mover said yeah this is pretty bad eh. Take photos and contact your agent. The people unloading were local guys and they were shocked at the state of our things.

I dont know how this company has 4.7 stars. I did so much research to pick a quality, affordable company and I feel stupid for choosing house of movers. They dont deserve to be in business and I hope they dont get away with treating other peoples things like this. Please choose a different company.

Truck arrived 4.5 hours late, and already half filled with the possessions of another family. Discourse ensued, we were told "you have booked a consolidated move" which we had not. No other trailers were available and so we had to reschedule our pick up to the following day. Crew were promised to arrive between 8-9am. Actual arrival time was 11:30am, and truck loading was completed near 8pm. Original delivery day to our new home (out of province move) was 4 days later. We have now been in our new house with NONE of our possessions for TWELVE DAYS. Delivery was promised "between 8th-11th March", then "on or before 14th March". We still have NO idea where our trailer is (still in Ontario? somewhere in Nova Scotia? somewhere in between?) and NO promise of a delivery date. This is an absolute horror show of a moving company.

Best of Houseofmovers deserves their name! My move ended up being a much bigger job than anticipated. Landon and Cooper kept me informed and gave me options for completing the job as efficiently and inexpensively as possible.

We had a wonderful experience with Houseofmovers .Sandy! Anthony, Nate, Daniel, Daniel and Gage were the best!! They all did a wonderful job moving with us.

Three guys came out and moved heavy boxes and furniture into their permanent locations after a cross country move. They were careful with my breakables and antiques. They listened, offered advice, and everything is in place, safely. Thanks, guys!

They arranged an estimator to come see me give me a quote and arranged for my move. I was all set and ready to go and no stress... Thanks guys for awesome move.

The three men that were moving my things were very professional and a pleasure to work with. They were very careful and respectful of my items.

Very impressed with House of Movers. The movers were extremely professional, friendly and efficient. The rate quoted was the rate paid. No surprises. I'm extremely picky and would not hesitate to use House of Movers again.
