Complete home window replacement

Windows of good quality, but installation failed. Drafts around window frames. Tried to get warranty service but were told that they closed their local operation.
My problem now. Be warned.

Window replacement

I employed this company for my elderly parents and they replaced all the windows in this property(20 or more units). After the install I noticed that many of the safety stops were missing from the venting windows and they confirmed they would be installed the next day. I called many times and was told that a service manager would respond. Shortly after, 2 of the large picture windows stated to leak. Once again, I called many times with no response from Meridian. I finally asked to speak to the manager, Igor for a remedy as significant drywall damage and hardwood floor damage had occurred on both floors. After numerous attempts and no return calls, I finally made contact with Igor and he was rude, belligerent and completely unaccountable. He made no accommodation for a remedy or restitution. What is worse is that Igor also owns the company. Since we could not afford any further damage to my parents home we called a true professional(Lux Windows) and further investigation revealed that Meridian's poor installation protocol lacked several critical steps. Their windows were not properly backed, poorly shimmed, no paper, tape or seal was used around the openings which naturally allowed water and wind to permeate. DO NOT USE MERIDIAN WINDOWS AND DOORS.

Window replacements

10 windows replaced, 4 leak, the picture window profusely. Had a renovation company come fix it as Meridian Windows would NOT supply warranty service or replacement. The Reno company was appalled at the shoddy, poor, (guaranteed to leak) workmanship.
I have escalated this situation to the Consumer Investigative Unit, as well as proceeding with a lawsuit.

So many issues

So many problems with these windows. The assembly are "snapped" together. I watched how the installer had to replace the glass that he broke.

1) Window has shifted so that it rubs against a side. Installer can't adjust it back. It either will rub when it opens and has to be pushed out or can't close properly.
2) Exterior paint job is sloppy in that the paint was not sprayed in a straight line.
3) Interior laminate color peels, spots that are missed are covered up with a marker.
4) Exterior window has a lip where dust/dirt collects so it leaves a layer of dirt around the window.
5) The window closes on 2 rubber seals. It may close on 1 seal but it barely touches the 2nd seal and a newspaper can be slid in between the window and seal.
6) There is a 1x1 cm triangle of dust in between 2 panes possibly because the windows were not cleaned properly when assembled. The picture is a faint white triangle in the middle.
7) Plastic hooks on top that removes the screen will dry and crack making it hard to remove the screen.
8) Crank that opens/closes seizes over time. The pin you see also slides out over time
9) One Window fogs up between the panes in winter.

Windowcity, can you explain these issues. You company was supplied with pictures and a video from the installer.

Replaced Doors and Windows

I am sorry to say that I had written two good reviews about this company before but after seeing their customer service, I am forced to give them a zero rating! The back door they installed in February this year, leaks and inspite of writing to them, calling them repeatedly,no one bothers to respond.
First of all, some one called Andrew spoke very rudely to me when I first called their customer service to give my complaint. He then referred me to Igor, who is another rude and uncouth man. He literally shouted at me over the phone demanding as to who gave me his phone number!
The other bad thing about this company is that, their customer service email address they advertised is not valid, supported or monitored!
I would not recommend this company to anyone after what they have done to me and investing so much in their products!

Home renovation

All I can say is be very very careful when dealing with company.
Long story short used this company to install 19 new windows in our home. All seemed and looked good. Following a rain storm was noticed one of the windows let water into the home. After fighting with the customer services representative he basically told me it's my on problem. And that I could try to call the installer but would be better off fixing it myself. After more then 4 calls and voicemails to the installer still no response.
Clearly states 25 year warranty with product and Instalation. I have only had the windows under 1 year.
Very unprofessional company very rude customer service.

product ands service, window & door renovations

I wished I had done some research on these guys. With what I have discovered in the past 2 years since they installed windows and doors in my home, I would NEVER let these people or their garbage products into my house.
It started with a ridiculous installation that took a long time coming and left me with a flat tire because they left the screws and garbage all over my driveway. Then we started having problems with the window in one of the doors. We have been trying to get this fixed ever since. They made many promises but nothing was done.
We finally approached them at the Home Show at Evergreen Park and demanded they do something. More excuses and promises to replace. We still have all the emails and text messages.
A few days ago they came to the house late at night and put some silicone in the window frame which they had cracked while trying to fix it on a previous visit. They claimed to have no knowledge of previous conversations. In addition to all this they also insulted my wife.
I will continue to press for justice and will do my best to ensure others do not have to experience this aggravation.

Multiple Window Replacements...an ongoing nightmare :(

Bought from and had 7 windows installed by Meridian Windows and Doors. Cost was around $7,500. We had several quotes from different companies. Meridian wasn’t the cheapest nor were they the most expensive. Sales guy was pretty good. Windows themselves are decent. Largest window (98"x73") leaks in 2 different spots. They also broke all 4 of the drywall corners surrounding this window. On all the windows 60% of the caulking has hundreds of different sized bubbles in it and they missed several complete runs of caulking. Apparently these bubbles form when caulk is applied at too cold of a temperature. When cladding was installed, 50% of it was done so that water pools on the cladding and against the window rather than draining away from house. One dining room window has shifted in the frame so the result is a substantial gap at the bottom of the window. These are the same issues we have been trying to get resolved since we noticed the issues.

There are also a few minor things. I will list them here as it just shows how unprofessional the installation was: Caulk was applied to peeling paint so no seal was formed. Spray foam was left protruding out well beyond the edge of the window/drywall. Multiple strips of caulk were just thrown into the flower beds and left. At least 1 window not installed square and flush within the frame making dry walling and trimming the window much more difficult. These minor issues we did not bring forward as we didn’t consider them to be significant and we dealt with them accordingly.

We have been in contact with numerous people at Meridian. Twice people have come out to see the issues and take notes. They also sent people out 2 different times to fix the issues. First time they did not bring the correct color of cladding. The second time the guy (who had come out a few days prior to look at the issues) just re-caulked some of the problem areas. But not all. Also he did not do the entire lengths of the window sides so the 2nd layer he applied is not in line with the original so it has a “step” look…brown caulk going along ½” onto the white window then suddenly it is 1” onto the white then after several inches goes back to the ½”. Additionally, the quality of the caulking job is unacceptable. He also added screws into the center of the cladding directly under the window frame, right where the water pools. He also didn’t bring all the required materials (again), namely the brown cladding, so he couldn’t fix the slope of the cladding. This was is in the fall of 2016.

Now it is spring 2017. When we call they repeatedly tell us to send “Igor” an email, which we have done several times over the past month, but he never replies back. They will not provide “Igor’s” phone number. So now after multiple phone calls, a fax, and emails (to both “Igor” and the Meridian email which in the past they have replied to), we are losing our patience as this has been going on for over 2 years. And they know what the problems are as they have twice sent people to fix them, however, they never bring all the needed supplies, even though we specifically tell them the window color, cladding color, and caulk color PLUS different people at Meridian who have come to the house to view and fix the issues have written “detailed reports” about what was wrong and what is needed for it to be fixed.

Hopefully this review will make people who are considering Meridian Windows and Doors pick a different company. Meridian will not be there to fix any installation issues. I don’t think they would be there for any other problems you may have with their windows either. Prior to winter 2016 their customer service was adequate. Now it is deplorable and non-existent. Stay away from this company. And FYI…both the sales guy and the guy who came to fix the issues in the fall of 2016 have quit working for Meridian Windows and Doors.

What we would like is for these issues to be properly corrected once and for all. After writing the paragraphs above I read some of the other reviews and comments posted Meridian. I just want to say that I don't think we are being unreasonable, unrealistic, difficult, etc. in what we want fixed.

We have included a few pictures to try and show (1) the issues with the installation and (2) the attempt that was made in the fall of 2016 trying to remedy some of the caulking. I want people reading this review to take it seriously so I have posted a small sample of pictures we have demonstrating the issues we have outlined. With regards to the bubbles in the caulk, the slope of the cladding, the unprofessional application of the caulk, these issues are present on more than just the window in the picture (meaning the same issues can be found on multiple windows).

Window and door installation

Worst customer service. They delay, hoping that you will go away. Well I finally had to and just decided to write a bad review to make sure others didn't make the same mistake I did. A simple fix on a leaky seal and they wouldn't even come out to look at it, never mind fix it! The install is only 3 years old, with a 10 year warranty. You have to hound them for an update and they just make excuses. One reason they are cheap is because they they put zero effort into customer service. (Thanks IGOR) My mistake in not checking into them and their subs before signing on the dotted line. I would NEVER recommend these clowns. Stay way from Meridian Windows and their sub contractor Alberta Door Systems!!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder they are no BBB accredited. My mistake for going with them...

Company Response

We are sorry that Alberta Door Systems, address 6447 2nd Street SE, Calgary did not help you with your service request. Alberta Door System is original manfacturer and installer of their product. This case will give no extra business to this door supplier and we are not depending on this company as door supplier and installer any more. And Meridian is sorry for this. Meridian does not have manufacturing facility of its own for door production.
