Dear Veronica,
I am truly sorry for the experience you had. I understand you have been in touch with our General Manager Rick Wilson over the last couple weeks regarding your concerns and I also appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns here.
It would be very unsettling to have a lien put on your property and it isn’t a situation I ever want another client to go through. The Trade Partner in question has failed to meet the standards we’ve set out in our agreement with them and have been unprofessional towards our clients which resulted in us terminating our contract with them. We are asking them to correct the deficiencies they have left outstanding before we release their final payment.
I can only imagine how frustrating it would have been to have construction of your garage start and then have your inspections fail because it didn’t match the plans; especially after bringing it to someone’s attention. Your understanding that there are many factors that might delay a project is much appreciated but we hire professional sub-contractors and have site coordinators verifying work before inspections to ensure this doesn’t happen. Our Management Team will be reviewing this with our sub-contractors and Site Staff to highlight how important “measure one, cut twice” is and how failing to do this impacts our clients and their project timelines.
We did want to allow the original framer the opportunity to correct their error with the eaves but I recognize that this further delayed your project while your site coordinator worked very hard to schedule them back in. In the future if the original trade partner cannot be scheduled back in a timely fashion we should be utilizing one of our alternative sub-contractors ASAP because our client’s satisfaction should always be the top priority.
Re-sodding and landscaping is not part of the scope of work outlined in your contract. However, the door and weather stripping being left unrepaired is not acceptable. I have arranged to have our service technician Vince at your home this afternoon to correct these outstanding items.
As always Rick Wilson (GM) and I are here to speak with you whenever you need us.
We will continue to keep you informed on resolving the lien and are working to have it remove by the end of this month.
Sincerely,
Chloe Horne

Dear Philip,
First of all I would like to apologize for the stress and frustration you've experienced and I agree that we have failed to meet our usual high standards.
Your original Site Coordinator struggled to maintain the high degree of organization required to manage your development. We recognized this issue quickly and assigned John a Senior Site Coordinator to your project. We are a team and PLANiT Builders needs to take responsibility as a whole for how this impacted you and your family. We are working on providing all of our staff access to more continuing education programs to build upon existing skills and have further increased the level of experience and qualifications required.
Our Trades are booked in for blocks of time. An example may be our painters that might be given up to five days to complete the job but that doesn't mean they will be there for all of those days. I can appreciate how this could be frustrating and I am sorry we didn't properly communicate this with you. I will review the scheduling process with our Construction Manager and see what we can do to make the process straight forward for our clients.
I am truly sorry that you felt pressured to proceed with the lenders PLANiT Builders is partnered with to provide financing; that was and has never been our intention. We offer this in house service to assist our clients who may not have time to meet or were not approved by their bank. We are always forthcoming with information regarding interest rates and encourage our clients to seek alternatives if they feel the terms of our loans are unsatisfactory. Our clients are free to choose any of the accepted methods to pay for their development.
Your current site coordinator John has gone above and beyond what is required of him to get your project back on track. John has been in contact with you regularly by phone and email since taking over your development. He is also in constant contact with our office and has been working with our construction manager daily to shorten the schedule wherever possible. I respect and acknowledge that assigning you a new Site Coordinator and responding to your concerns both publically and internally does not erase your poor first impression of us. However, I do feel that the personal efforts of our Construction Manager and your Site Coordinator need to be recognized. They have made you their priority not because it is their job but because it was the right thing to do.
I would like to resolve these concerns with you in a way that you find satisfactory and will reach out to you to further discuss how you would like us to address your concerns.
Regards,
Chloe Horne
