If you want your project finished on time stay away from PLANiT Builders Ltd.
They will sell you the idea that they are the biggest basement renovations here in Calgary, that they are very organized company and they can finance your project.
It's only now that I realized because they have a lot of project they are not able to cope up with every project. There are weeks that no trade people will show up for work. There will be days that trade people will just work for an hour. What a waste of time!!!
With regards to being organized and professional. I completely disagree. How can they call themselves professional and organized if:
1) no trade people showing up for the supposed work for the day. Not days but weeks without trade
2) will make you believe with their work schedule by showing you 2 months of work being schedule on a calendar. They call this Builder Trend but in reality 90 percent of that schedule is not being followed.
3)The signed contract that will show the estimate date of completion means nothing to PLANiT Builders Ltd. On my contract it was stated Sept 17 2014 is the completion date but as of today Sept 26 2014 my basement still has no carpet and laminate flooring no granite counter top and wash room is far from being finished. So where is the professionalism here?
And with regards to their selling point that they will finance your project it is best to go with your own bank and applied for the loan because what PLANiT is doing is they will just get your credit information and submit it to the bank anyway. Best if you negotiate with your bank your interest rate.
Now if you are reading this review because you are looking for a company to do your basement or garage once again I will advise you to stay away from PLANiT if you want your project finished on time.

Approximate cost of services:
$45,000.00

Company Response

Dear Philip,

First of all I would like to apologize for the stress and frustration you've experienced and I agree that we have failed to meet our usual high standards.
Your original Site Coordinator struggled to maintain the high degree of organization required to manage your development. We recognized this issue quickly and assigned John a Senior Site Coordinator to your project. We are a team and PLANiT Builders needs to take responsibility as a whole for how this impacted you and your family. We are working on providing all of our staff access to more continuing education programs to build upon existing skills and have further increased the level of experience and qualifications required.
Our Trades are booked in for blocks of time. An example may be our painters that might be given up to five days to complete the job but that doesn't mean they will be there for all of those days. I can appreciate how this could be frustrating and I am sorry we didn't properly communicate this with you. I will review the scheduling process with our Construction Manager and see what we can do to make the process straight forward for our clients.
I am truly sorry that you felt pressured to proceed with the lenders PLANiT Builders is partnered with to provide financing; that was and has never been our intention. We offer this in house service to assist our clients who may not have time to meet or were not approved by their bank. We are always forthcoming with information regarding interest rates and encourage our clients to seek alternatives if they feel the terms of our loans are unsatisfactory. Our clients are free to choose any of the accepted methods to pay for their development.
Your current site coordinator John has gone above and beyond what is required of him to get your project back on track. John has been in contact with you regularly by phone and email since taking over your development. He is also in constant contact with our office and has been working with our construction manager daily to shorten the schedule wherever possible. I respect and acknowledge that assigning you a new Site Coordinator and responding to your concerns both publically and internally does not erase your poor first impression of us. However, I do feel that the personal efforts of our Construction Manager and your Site Coordinator need to be recognized. They have made you their priority not because it is their job but because it was the right thing to do.
I would like to resolve these concerns with you in a way that you find satisfactory and will reach out to you to further discuss how you would like us to address your concerns.

Regards,
Chloe Horne
