Plywood

I originally found the company Let It Rain through a radio ad and also through word of mouth a while back. They always have done great job as they have excellent warranty and you get what you pay for (not the cheapest, but no the most expensive). They are the best company as far as I am concerned.

New Roof and a insulation

My husband was a roofer for years but he's old now and can't go up on any ladders. A friend of his used let it rain a few years ago and always told us to call them when ever we would complain about a leak or the temperatures being so different all over our house. We got 3 quotes and let it rain was the last one. We chose let it rain because they had the most knowledge and they have credentials that are backed up by the shingle manufacturer. My husband really liked that. Well I'm so happy we did because we are already saving money on our energy cost and I don't have to keep getting my grand kids to fix the drywall and paint anymore... Its the safest choice. If anything goes wrong let it rain will come back and fix it and they have been around for years. A guy my husband worked with 25 years ago used them and he remembers him bragging about his new roof at work.. They are reliable even if there are hiccups the owner is a stand up guy and I would recommend this company.

Roofing

Just a fyi...
If I'm taking the time to write a review, it's either I was extremely happy or tremendously disappointed. In this case, it is a very positive review.

Years ago, when I needed a new roof, I called a few companies for estimates; money was tight at the time but I had to face the fact that my house needed a new roof. Let it Rain sent a guy to my house to do an estimation. The estimator person was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions; he took the time to explain why I needed a certain shingle instead of another one. He actually had some samples and gave me clear explanations.

I was a bit surprised when I got the estimate; although it was not the most expensive one, the price was a bit higher than I expected. Although the sales person has earned my respect, I still had some concerns; I wanted to know why I should go with Let it Rain instead of a cheaper company. So I decided to call the owner directly and spoke to Bruno. I wanted to make sure the sales guy did not make a mistake and charged me for things I didn’t need.

Bruno was very honest with me; he said that not only I would have a roof done by professionals, Let it Rain will be there when I need them. Yes, you pay more at first, but in the long run, you can count on us!
At the time I was unsure; however, I felt the honesty in his voice; he finally convinced me. Bruno was very friendly and exuded confidence. I had Let it Rain do my roof.
The process was easy; calling the office was so refreshing. The staff was very polite and made me feel significant. The whole experience went very smooth. I never had a problem after that; they did a fantastic job… neighbors were even commenting on how nice my roof was; it really improved the look of my house. Never had a leak after that. They did a wonderful job!

A little while ago, I had an issue with my chimney and needed a repair on my roof. It has been so long that I thought I would not find that special roofing company again. I looked to my paperwork and found the estimate. Let it Rain had moved yes, but when I called, I couldn’t believe Bruno was still there. I spoke to him and he told me not to worry; he would send one of his guys promptly. The repair man was here in no time, I was so impressed. It was such an easy process that the stress of the situation disappeared; I barely had to explain what the problem was; they knew right away.

All that to say that, after all this time, Let it Rain is still here!

PS… Of all the other estimates I had (I kept the paperwork), none of the companies exists today… that means something.

Thank you Let it Rain for your fantastic service! I'm giving you a verbal award of excellence!

Full roof

We had 5 reputable companies come and assess our roofing needs as we had to replace our roof only 8 years after it was installed. Out of the field, we felt that Let it Rain was more knowledgeable and frankly qualified to handle our issues. We were a bit skeptical as it almost sounded like it was too good to be true, however when the project started, we quickly realized that this company was the real deal. From coordinating the project to picking up the final nail, everything went according to the consultants presentation. The crew on site was extremely professional and completed the job in a timely and CLEAN manner. The only hiccup if you will, would be that they had to replace some rotted deck at an extra cost. Which really should have been replaced 8 years ago.. All in all this was one of the greatest contractors that we have ever dealt with will recommend them to all of our family and friends. Thank you very much Let it Rain for our Lifetime Roof system!

Roof replacement

I had let it rain LTD work for me before they redid shingles on another house. The most recent time that they did a job for me, they replaced the entire shingle roof down to the wood. They did a pretty good job and so far the roof is holding up pretty well. They worked at a timely fashion and the only time they were delayed was when the weather was bad. I’m happy with their work.

A company with potential and issues.

I hired LIR on the recommendation of a neighbour and despite their estimate coming in 2k higher than my other 2 quotes, we did hire them based on a slick sales presentation and the fact that they did seem to be organized with communication and written quotes. I had skylights and a new roof installed. I would conclude that Let it Rain has a mixture of good experienced people mixed in with some dummies that don't take pride in their work and are not "problem solvers" which is the mark of a professional tradesperson.

Fortunately, I hung around with a camera for the entire day and was able to see the screw-ups unfold in real time. Briefly, here are their mistakes.

Skylight one: Dummy "carpenter" took a Sawzall and cut the opening in my roof much to large even though the Pella skylight box clearly states the roof opening dimensions on the box. This required a major patching job to reduce the opening to allow a proper install. A close inspection of skylight flashing revealed a missing screw (oops, must have dropped it-oh well!) and crooked flashing. That would have caused a leak on the first storm had I not actually gone up there and caught it.

Skylight 2: Despite being clearly marked with an outline marking the centerline of the opening to be cut AND a face-to-face discussion on where to cut, dummy carpenter #2 proceeded to cut a hole in my roof mistaking the center line for the edge, thus putting the skylight over two feet to the left and right under the chimney. Then, after apologies and patching, I discovered they patched my 1 1/2" thick roof with 3/4 " plywood leaving a weird 2x2 foot indentation which was clearly obvious even with shingles on it. That ended up being a 4 repair by opening the ceiling up and pounding the plywood back up to the level of the surrounding roof and gluing shims to the trusses. It was either that or tear off the whole side of a new roof right back down to the wood. What a pain!

Flashing. Not very skilled. They wrote in the contract that our particular chimney required saddle flashing and I paid extra for it, and yet, after the job was complete it clearly wasn't installed. Another leak waiting to happen. Drip edges were crooked in several places (clearly eyeballed with by people with poor spatial ability). That was another costly mistake on their part as they had to tear of the shoddy work and reinstall what I contracted for.

So that's the bad, and, considering the premium price, it was unacceptable.

Now on to the good. Despite all these screw-ups, Let it Rain was actually responsive to my concerns. Within a week they dispatched some of their skilled guys to correct everything. They didn't argue either-it was yes, sir, no problem sir. That's what I like to hear. (and they were at it all day which couldn't have been good for their bottom line. These guys were older and clearly were the pros I had hoped to have in the first place. Of the kids doing the grunt work on my roof, they had some bad workers that need retraining or reemployment.

The shingling itself was good workmanship and their ridge vents and ice shield installation was done well. In the end we got a good product, but it required total involvement of the homeowner and that shouldn't be necessary. I shouldn't have to climb my own roof and find all this stuff and get them all back there for a day of remediation. With this particular crew working on your roof, I shudder to think what you'd find if you did a close inspection.

To the management of Let it Rain, my advice to you would be to have a SKILLED job supervisor on EVERY job, for the FULL job because it's really difficult to find careful, intelligent workers in any trade. Your two skylight guys and flashing dude were the bad apples and made for major headaches on my end and yours. The best you can do for the homeowner is to carefully supervise each job so it doesn't need to be done twice. That's in your customer's interest and in the interest of your bottom line.

New roof and eavestroughs with Alu-Rex leaf guard

We've just had a first class customer experience with Let It Rain.
Through all the various stages of the process, from first enquiry through quotation to installation to final inspection, all of their people have been extremely professional. The end product is a very high quality job, with a strong warranty.
We did extensive homework and research prior to selecting companies to quote, and then thorough analysis and comparison of the quotes received. After the fact, we are satisfied on every aspect of the decision criteria that led us to choose Let It Rain.
The work crew set up very carefully, taking great care to protect our home and its landscaping. The roof work proceeded very efficiently and respectfully. Clean up was impeccable.
Value-for-money was key for us. We wanted a high quality solution with a long warranty from a dependable provider, and we were willing to pay a fair price for a premium solution. We got it.
I recommend Let It Rain to anybody looking for a truly top quality job backed by dependable people.

Roofing

Below is a letter I was going to send to Bruno at Let it Rain, I have finally recovered from this nightmare and decided to share my experience here so others may be forewarned. Let it Rain has a severe lack of communication between themselves and their customer. Just too many cooks to spoil the broth.

Dear Bruno,
I am one who diligently researches contractors who would best suit my expectations and complete my needs professionally, with quality workmanship, customer communication and satisfaction.Let it rain, has been in business since early 1990, is well known for quality work and even represented on CFRB talk Radio 1010. Let it rain , are said to be a "GAF Master Elite",factory certified roofing contractor. This is why I chose "Let It Rain", to get the job done on my roof, and I also recommended you for my (attached) neighbor. I now am apologizing to my neighbor, due to my under estimate of professionalism of "Let It Rain".
Jan gave a very thorough and knowledgeable presentation of your services and products. Even though" Let It Rain",was about $1500 more expensive than other competitors, I still chose you, feeling confident that you would not fail to please me with my roof installation.
Boy , what a mistake . My Neighbor and I have been mislead, ignored, and repeatedly ignored by not communicating with us, not returning emails, not returning phone calls, even to personal cellphones of you supervisors and not informing us when your installation crews would return. The job started on May 4th 2015, and still is not complete as I write this on May 25th 2015. We live in semi detached 900 square foot homes, not huge mansions requiring a lot of time to complete.
Our experience with you has been a nightmare right from the start.
Jan came and looked into our attics because we had a concern of attic mold, he was to estimate how many roof boards would need to be replaced. To my delight, Jan said very little mold was present and only a few (5 or 6 boards) would need replacing. This gave myself and my neighbor the go ahead to place our roof orders with "Let It Rain", because now the price would be in line with what was originally quoted and budgeted for.
Jan said "Mario", would call me to arrange an appropriate install date. On or about April 22nd 2015, my wife called me at work and was very upset to see a huge crane unloading mountains of roof shingles and and other materials on top of our roofs. I came home and read my email, one from my neighbor, saying Mario had contacted him for an installation date of Thursday, the next day, my neighbor told your Mario, it would be OK as long as (myself) would agree to this. I then checked my voice mail on my home phone where Mario left a message regarding this at about 7:25 am that day. (Everyone in my house were at work already at that time). I immediately called Mario and told him that his date would be impossible, and rescheduled for Monday May 4th 2015 ,where I would be home for the entire week on vacation. Meanwhile the roof shingles were piled up high in stacks of 11 or so and damaging and bending our roof boards for the next 11 days, plus the fear of rolls of material and other equipment falling off the roof in the next 11 days were prevalent .
During the installation, we found many, many, roof boards with mold and or dry rot needed replacement. My neighbor and I cringed at every roof board being ripped off our roofs @ $60 a board, where we thought there would only be 5 or 6 boards per side , it turned out to be about 29-30 boards per side replaced (still not yet determined). This is a wack of cash and we probably would have postponed the job till more funds were available, but we were at ''Let It Rains" mercy staring at our shingle stripped roofs.
There were several problems with the installation, 2 roof exaust vents where installed directly over the center of a roof rafter. I explained my concern to the foreman of your crew who seemed to think this was normal and he said he does this all the time to make it look centered on the roof and said he would ask his supervisor about this. He said he had never had a complaint about this. My drip edge molding was improperly installed as to "GAF'' standards where the corners were not bent and closed but left open with large gaps showing, the drip edge molding was not properly nailed down in many areas and still is not proper. These problems have mostly been fixed by Daniel and Joel.
Joel came to my house the next week to ensure proper ventilation was installed at the soffits, and repair anything that was a problem. Joel cut 6 large holes under my soffits and installed styrofoam baffles into them, three on the front ,three on the side, actually only two on the side, found after stripping the soffits for new ones from another contractor. I was up inside my attic to ensure that I could see the baffles were installed correctly. They barely made it out over the insulation edge at the roof board. Some I just could not see if they were there. I don't think it is my responsibility as a customer to be inside the attic to ensure proper installation of the baffles and venting , it should be "Let it Rains" responsibility. When I asked Joel how many holes were cut on the top half of the house he said "None". He had no idea what was done to the back and was not instructed to do anything there. You would think the back half of the house would have to vented as well as the front half. As of today I have not heard from Daniel, Joel or Jan whom I have repeatability tried to contact with email and voice messages regarding this issue to complete my job. My neighbor has not heard from anyone either! My neighbor has also noted to me that your installers have damaged his front eaves trough by placing their ladder against it without proper protection. This will have to be fixed.(and later was replaced)
Update as of May 27th 2015.
After many times and days trying to contact Daniel, he had agreed on Tuesday May 26th 2015 to send Joel here to cut out 6 more soffit holes in the upper half of my house. At 4:00 pm today Wednesday, No sign of Joel, no phone calls no nothing, I called many times to Daniel with no response until the last minute he sent an Email saying he is not coming due to high winds, and rescheduled for Thursday May 27th 2015.
Update : On may 27th 2015,
Not one, not two, but three let it rain trucks arrived at my home, along with another Supervisor "Ralph", as though Daniel needed backup. I was advised at this time that no further work would be done until I paid upfront the original contract amount. I was astounded that Let it Rain would stoop this low with their unprofessional-ism and try to intimidate me with a payment for what I firmly believed was an incomplete job. I explained my thoughts to him and again to Daniel where I would definitely not be issuing a cheque this day and demanded a discount of some sort for all the BS and generally poor customer service and my complete dissatisfaction and horrific experience of the simple task of replacing my roof over the duration of almost four weeks ! Your crew said they were going to leave and contact you " Bruno", for further instructions.
Well it turns out your crew did not leave my premisses, and spoke by phone to you "Bruno", who in turn did offer a small discount on the whole (about less than $700). Your crew and yourself did not offer any apologies, or acknowledgment of "Let It Rains " total unsatisfactory and very un-proffessional behavior to myself and my neighbor who has experienced similar dis-respect in both customer service and workmanship.
I was however, very happy to get "Let It Rain" out of my hair and out of my way.
Upon inspection of my roof with Ralph and Daniel, we found a small tear/broken shingle at the top cut edge of my valley ,where Ralph said they would repair this when Daniel came back to fix my neighbors roof problems. This has yet to be done, once again I am not surprised. Daniel delivered my warranty package and finalized invoice at my door to my wife, and then quickly disappeared without seeing or talking to me directly. The finalized invoice is also incorrect with material supplied and installed, particularly the exhaust vents, which were 6 not 4 and 50 square inch not 75 square inch, plus there was no pre painted flashing installed where I can see.
In closing, based upon my experience with "Let It Rain", I do not understand how you have attributed so many positive reviews, and qualified as a Master Elite installer of GAF products.
I am sure you will appreciate my writing to you ,the owner of "Let It Rain", and I am confident this experience does not reflect the true way you and "Let It Rain" treat your customers. You even state this on your web sight by quoting " We'll install your roof as if it were my own" .
