I purchased approximately 700 square feet of Ipe (Brazilian Walnut) hardwood from this company. The brand was St Lawrence Collections (which I later found out is affiliated with Brampton Flooring). The reason to purchase this specific wood is that I recently purchased a house and it has this exact hardwood throughout most of the house. I purchased enough to finish the 3 bedrooms that had not yet been done. This company is the exclusive supplier for this product (again I later found out it's because they are affiliated).
My contractor, who I am super happy with, picked up the wood for us and brought it to our house. After waiting the few days for the wood to acclimate to the house conditions he started to install it, but after making the discovery that the finish was not properly adhered to the wood he stopped after only laying a few rows in one room and immediately reported this issue to me. We did a test with a coin on the end of one of the boards and the clear coat finish (which didn't match the previous wood of the exact same type and finish) was literally flaking right off of the wood. Just to make sure we randomly tested a few other boards from different boxes of the wood and they all showed the same issues.
My contractor took a sample back to Brampton Hardwood as this was what was required when we looked on the St Lawerence Collections website for warranty issues -- they instruct the user to contact the supplier and have it escalated through them. After a week of hmming and hawing the sales person I deal with at Brampton Hardwood told me that they were actually affiliated with Brampton Hardwood -- that Brampton Hardwood actually bought this hardwood unfinished and then sent it to St Lawrence to have the finish applied and branded with their brand) and that the rep from St Lawrence would be in contact with me directly. Several more days have now gone by and even though I repeatedly call Brampton Hardwood I've not been able to get any resolution on this issue. I have approx 1000 lbs of hardwood sitting in the middle of a bedroom floor, it's too heavy for me to even move it, the store doesn't want to offer support, the manufacturer is outright avoiding the issue even though they claim a 35 year "wear" warranty (right now it wouldn't last 35 minutes let alone years) -- and I have professional movers with 3 truckloads of furniture showing up in the morning and nowhere to put it all.
I highly advise avoiding this company if you want any kind of after-sales follow up or support. I've had to spend almost 2 full weeks chasing them on this issue and there's no apparent resolution in sight.
