This is a buyer BEWARE post... if anyone needs siding please don’t contact this company.
The name of the guy is Steven, he operates under Evergreen Siding and Aluminium. He has a few posts on his personal wall and advertises on kijiji as well.
The story...
We were looking at getting siding done a couple years ago and this was one of the companies we had come for a quote. 2 years later, which is now we called him again and got him to come back out and do another quote because we were now ready to get it done. He is pretty much the same cost as other companies but cheaper than the bigger companies in town.
We ordered the materials set a start date and the first couple days he was a no show with maybe one text saying he couldn’t show up because he was at the drs waiting on antibiotics. Each day that went by we started to get a little bit nervous as we had put upfront a 50 percent deposit, however we had most material on our property.
Finally he shows up on the Friday and does one side. We go over the work and pieces are cut too short and barely even sitting in the J trim, the pipe was a horrible cut (the pic is his “fixing” it) and the aluminum around the door didn’t sit well with me as it needed to be around the whole frame and is super sharp especially with kids in the house. That was just a few items we went over with him the next day he showed. He assured they would all be fixed. He went through almost a box of siding just in attempts to get proper cuts which still weren’t professionally done in my eyes.
He showed the second day and started on the front of the house. We addressed many concerns with him on his poor cuts of siding around the windows, the need for J trim running along the peak, the aluminum not running down to the ground again around the front door, the patch work of the banister (that would be being removed) the light fixture that isn’t even attached to anything but the siding, also the siding wasn’t even nailed down in spots because within 2 days it had already buckled! There were more unprofessional things but this was most of it. He assured they would be fixed. At that point I had asked if they could be fixed before doing any else. He agreed and said he just had to run to the hardware store and grab a few items he needed to fix it. Sadly he didn’t show back up.
Kyle and I discussed it that evening and asked him not to show up the next day. We got a company to come out and take a look and see if this was acceptable work or not. They mentioned it was horrible and the guy is just wasting material at this point! So on we go to tell Steven that we cannot continue on. It didn’t obviously end well. We asked for what he thought a fair amount back as we had paid 50 percent upfront and are now out and have to pay a new company to redo the work. He isn’t returning any messages at this point and we are upset about the loss and unprofessionalism.

Sorry Rant over!

However, i hope this helps sway anyone’s decision into not using this guy. I always like to give the younger underdogs a chance but will think differently probably next time!

Please share so it doesn’t happen to another family!
