Appliance Repairman

Terrible company - do not use. I called these guys to fix a leak in my fridge water valve. While the tech was there, we discussed the hook-up to the house water supply. I agreed to pay to have the old copper tube and valve replaced with a new set. Technician had to make 4 trips to Home Depot because he kept buying the wrong part. That should have been my first clue this was going in the wrong direction. He removed the old valve off of my house water pipe, He did not seem capable to install the new valve without leaking. While he was trying for the 3rd time, I went upstairs and called their office to complain and ask them to send a more experienced tech. or at least have them call him for advice. I told the tech. I did not intend to pay until the job is done properly and leak free. I said I would happily speak to his office to tell them the same thing. While I was out of the room, the technician quickly and quietly packed up his tools and took off out the door without saying a word. Leaving me with no valve installed on my open water pipe, and my main house water unable to be turned on until it was fixed. I had to call a plumber to fix it. Appliance Repair Guys are incompetent and cannot be trusted to complete event the most basic repair job.. This guy spent over 3 hours struggling to do something the plumber did correctly in less than an hour.
Sad part is, before calling them I did a search on Homestars for Appliance Repair Guys and nothing came up! (Try it yourself, you will see). Now I find a bunch of negative reviews linked from an article in the Toronto Star. Fix your search engine Homestars! - I could have been spared this ordeal if your search engine had found all the negative reviews.

Stay clear of this company! They charge an $80 fee to come out which is to be deducted from the work. After literally 2 minutes of being in my house they advised it would be $280 to fix the microwave which was already less the $80! This is their flat fee for service plus any necessary parts. So if it takes 5 minutes to fix it's still $280. I showed him the door as this is just about what a new microwave costs (I did tell the booking person it was for a microwave). I've called the company back 3 times now to complain, they say they told me about the $280 fee when I booked (I'm not a moron, I'd never have agreed to that) and that they record all calls and would call me back to proof I knew. Interesting they've never gotten back to me with the recording?!?! Bottom line I had it repaired elsewhere for $45 including the little part it needed! I also found out that I should have paid the $80 up front when I booked because then MasterCard could have reversed the payment.

Well i should have used Homestars to check these highway robbers.......I was given a $280 plus parts which they had no cost for .....I had the unit repaired for $150 for a cleaning and that is all that was required . My bad for not checking but their bad because if they were honest and told me it would had been an extra $100 to get it working plus the initial fee they would had made more money I thank you for your attempt but you got the minimum from me

Ugh, Do NOT use them. It's sad when you can't even trust a company or the repair man that comes to your home. $320 dollars later I still have a broken dishwasher. The guy was here for 30 min all to tell me I needed a new pump and next time he would return all I would have to pay for was the part! UNTRUE!! They wanted another $368 for the part and an installation fee. Apparently installation in very different from labour in which I had already paid. So in the end up they wanted 700 dollars to fix a part worth $110!!! DO NOT sign there stupid labour agreement that's how they get you. These people make money on semantics rather than actually doing the work.

For $530, they left both the washer and dryer in worse shape. They do have a warranty process, slow, very frustrating. They did eventually return and left both machines in exactly the same state as before servicing them. Had a competitor in who fixed both in less than an hour for $180 total.

Had this guy come in to fix a microwave door that wouldn't open. Cost us $80+ tax for the service call which lasted all of 2 minutes to tell us the cost to fix a latch would be $280. A new microwave would cost the same price. Such a ripoff. Do not trust them!!!!!
