Fireplace West

Robin was a pleasure to deal with. Straight up honest and professional. The work was clean and efficient and they were helpful with all of the questions I had. Now I'm really happy with the valor fireplace.

After getting some estimates on the cost of installing a fireplace in our basement, we had just about given up on the idea as everything seemed beyond our reach financially. Robin had been someone whom we had spoken with and he knew that we had a limited budget. He apparently kept us in mind, because when the opportunity came for him to offer us something we could afford, he gave us a call and we ran with it. We love the fireplace that he installed for us.
He came with one of his employees and did the work quickly and efficiently. It was done in three days!
I would definitely recommend Robin for this kind of work. A generous, kind man....obviously considerate, remembering our needs and limited resources!

This is an update of my former review. Robin came out to see the problems I was having with my fireplace and completely resolved my issues and has shown me what was the problem. I had used a gas company for a maintenance plan and their tech made a mess of cleaning and resetting my fireplace and even reset the 'wood' in the wrong way. thanks Robin! i will ask you to help maintain my fireplace every year.

I had to remove an older-model gas fireplace in a basement to repair a leaking foundation crack behind it. Robin was able to fit me in to his schedule very promptly and, after removing the fireplace, gave me some good advice about preparing for the re-installation. It took me a number of months to prepare for that re-installation, but as soon as I was ready, Robin came back and figured out how to retrofit various venting parts to get the old fireplace working again, at a very reasonable cost.

Put simply, Fireplace West are pros. I feel very fortunate that this type of expertise is located within my area.

Background :During the first winter in our home we noticed a significant air leak coming from our fireplace chase. I didn't really know where to start or who to call. I called Robin and it was the last phone call i had to make.

Work done: To make a long story short, Robin and Connor came and extracted the old gas fireplace to see what was going on in the chase. Sure enough, we noticed that there was some insulation missing. Robin went the extra mile, purchased some supplies, and insulated all the voids that he could find with spray foam and bat insulation. He also tuck taped everything where there were exposed seams in the drywall or vapor barrier. He didn't cut any corners and went the extra mile. He then worked on installing the new and upgraded fireplace. Fireplace West did an awesome job, they maintained the existing stonework and didn't damage anything. They put a new exterior vent on the outside of our house and made sure it was well installed and sealed. Robin even put an extra bead of mortar around the fireplace to blend it in with the existing style. It turned out beautifully.

Price: We booked Fireplace West in late spring/early summer and Robin quoted us a very fair price (special spring pricing). I actually called Napoleon to get some information on the features of the fireplace we were considering and also asked about the cost. It turned out that Robin was charging a very fair mark-up for his labor costs, especially considering all of the insulation type work he did as well.

Overall: We couldn't be happier with our decision to call Fireplace West. We love our upgraded Napoleon unit and are confident that the air leak will be gone or greatly reduced come winter time. FW did really, really good work for us and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who has fireplace work that needs doing. Thanks FW!

We recently moved and are having major renos. Fireplace west was the only contractor who showed up when they said and did the installation on the day they said. I was very impressed with the efficiency and proficiency of the company. Excellent work! I am very satisfied and would recommend Fireplace West to anyone.

We were referred to Robin to replace our fire pace and install a new pool heater. Robin responded immediately. Within two days he finished the installations and installed floor to ceiling tiles around the fireplace. The finished product is beyond awesome. The first night we spent staring at the fire place for hours, couldn't believe the improvement to our home. We had neighbours and friends over and they were in awe. If we had known how beautiful this could be we would have done this years ago - thank you, thank you, thank you for making our home more beautiful

Very pleased with Robin's work, got assistance on options, helped choose a mantel and went above and beyond in finishing the job (drywall, power outlet, pipe for cables, even TV bracket fixing!). Along the way, he added a blower at my request and consulted/explained the steps along the way. His brother Dana did a great work on drywall, leaving only painting for us.

We had a big, 1984 drafty wood FP and wanted a smaller, compact gas FP, smaller mantel and mounted TV that would make the family room look roomier - he did the job as would have been his own place. Highly recommended!
