Al's Maintenance Services No Longer In Business

In 2014 we had a pool deck rebuilt using Interloc and the company who did the job didn't impress me but since they were here again this year to work on the pool they gave me a quote, which I felt was exorbitant. Never having done this as a single job before I didn't know what a legitimate price should be for this kind of work so I did some online searching. One of the results was a blog where people posted their questions about whether or not their quote was reasonable and there were several responses but one person's responses stood out as very intelligent, thorough and objective, which turned out to be Allan. I contacted him for a quote and even though I'm on the complete opposite area of the GTA he willingly came out and gave a quote - a third of the price that the pool company provided. He matched the exact Interloc, the quality of his work was exceptional and his work ethic is admirable. We hadn't discussed any sort of design - what Allan created was perfect and far better than anything we had envisioned. He didn't create large clouds over the neighbourhood with the cutting as the last company did, which was greatly appreciated by all and left a clean job site at the end of each day. I highly recommend Al's Maintenance Services for your Interloc needs and will be hiring him again in 2016 for work on the front of the house.

Did 3 quotes for interlocking and deck. Alan was the winner because the fence was going up and needed it done before then and he seemed to be on par with the other interlockers. That should have been my warning bell. He was courteous throughout but when the job was finished and he was paid that was the end.
I noticed that a couple of the stones started to have white marks ooze out of them and asked him to replace them. He did not reply to me. Noticed too that the sand that should go between the bricks were missing in some areas. After many calls and emails I finally told him to forget the discoloured bricks and bring me the sand. He dropped the sand off a couple of days later.
Last summer I noticed that the stones were moving and the edging that should keep them stable was also moving and that weeds were growing between the stones. I called but the numbers was not in service. I emailed and after a couple of emails got a reply saying he would come by when he can. That was that. Nothing since then. I think he just deletes my emails or have them go to the trash.
The warrantee that he gave me means nothing because he will not honour it. Customers do not be taken in, a warrantee is only good if it will be honoured and a company is only as good as it's after service care.
Now I will have to pay to get a handyman to fix the issues.

We hired Al and his crew to do ongoing lawn maintenance plus landscaping and lighting for our new home in a Stouffville subdivision. He did an amazing job - he's a very hard working guy who didn't stop until the job was done right. He came up with the design and it suits our property perfectly - he worked with the design of our deck and the house and we constantly get compliments from all our neighbours! I'd highly recommend Al's Maintenance for any type of lawn maintenance and landscaping. He aslo installed beautiful flagstone and stone steps at our front porch and flagstone path down the side of the house to the back yard. The lighting is beautiful - comes on with a sensor at dusk.
