Tony and his team were recommended by friend and did amazing job underpinning our basement. they were hard-working, consummate professionals, arriving each day at the crack of dawn and working until 6:30 every night cleaning up as they exited. We hired Tony and his guys for an excavation job on our 130 year-old Cabbagetown townhouse (turning a crawlspace into an 8-foot basement), and we couldn't have been happier with our selection.

First of all, we talked to a lot of people (probably at least a dozen) before we started the job, and Tony was not only one of the most reasonably priced but definitely the one that most impressed us right from the start with his knowledge and ability. This was not an easy job...the existing foundations in the house were a mixture of crumbling brick and some sort of strange 1800s-era cement mixture (with all sort of odds and ends of bricks and other pottery bits stuck into it), and a large part of it wasn't visible before the start of the project. We also had a number of difficult site conditions (very limited parking, space outside to work, or room for a bin), and he took it all in stride.

Tony and his men were there every day working (and this was in the middle of the summer, digging things out manually since there was no room for construction equipment on site), and they never complained and never slowed down. Although we had moved out for the construction, we spoke with our neighbours and they all mentioned how hard working Tony and his guys were as well as how considerate (as an example, they had a huge concrete truck come down our narrow alleyway for the underpinning part of the job, and they had no problem moving it all the way back out whenever someone wanted to get through).

Perhaps the best compliment is that Tony finished the work on time (literally to the day), on budget, and with the highest possible quality. He even threw in a couple of extras that we hadn't expected (metal grates for the top of the window wells, for example) for free.

If I had a similar job in the future I would use Tony again in a second and I have no hesitation recommending him to anyone.

P.S. One thing I do suggest is not to expect Tony to respond to emails with any immediacy. I generally prefer to communicate by email, which was a bit frustrating at first since Tony would take days or weeks to respond when I was originally looking for contractors. Once I figured out that Tony was much more easily contacted by phone, however, things went a lot more smoothly (he almost always answers his cell phone, so he's actually really easy to contact this way).

Tony and his crew excavated a basement under our house creating a beautiful basement space from simply a crawl space. On time every day these guys worked tirelessly digging out by hand. Tony even made some great suggestions that made our reno even better. Very knowledgable and trustworthy Braga is capable of taking on complicated foundation projects and completing them safely and on time - they even leave the site very tidy at the end of each day. Can't really speak higher of them. Prices fair for exceptional work.

From the 5 underpinning specialists we contacted, Tonio did the most thorough and complete assessment and gave a very solid & competitive quote for the 100 linear feet, 2 feet deep, underpinning of our basement. He provided insurance and licence documents on request. While it was at times a bit harder to contact him in the months leading up to the works, he was very available once the work started. Tonio oversaw the work of his friendly crew at the most important stages and came to check in in the evening and during the weekend when freak rains brought in lots of water in the basement during a crucial moment of the underpinning. Tonio was very committed to deliver a quality job, in time and at the agreed price, we can only recommend him.

Antonio's team was professional and efficient. They had our job done in a month in exactly the way you would hope to see it done. We would recommend him unreservedly.

Tony and his crew undertook an underpinning of our house, and excavation for an addition. They are professional, punctual, and very hard working. The treated our home and the surrounding space with respect, and ensured that we understood and were aware of the how they were going to proceed. We felt very safe and comfortable having Tony and his crew working on our home, especially important, as we have small children. Tony had an excellent relationship with the building inspector and never tried to take any short cuts in the entire process. Tony and his crew were phenomenal. From the initial proposal to the last piece of work, Tony was always professional, courteous, tidy on the job site, and communicated well. He worked well with the building inspector. My only complaint is that Tony has so much work, he is so busy, it is difficult to hire him back to do more work!

Tony was one of two contractors shortlisted for us by a renovation consultant; his bid was significantly less costly so we went with him. We are so glad we did.
Tony's work is fantastic - several contractors have come through to quote the finishing of our basement and garage and every one of them has commented that the underpinning was done really well; structurally sound, follows all the guidelines and very clean and smooth finish which helps with finishing.
He is also very courteous, friendly and quick to respond. For example, when our basement flooded the day before New Year's eve, we called Tony, who figured out from photos it was likely our sump pump wasn't yet connected, and he came right away with a spare pump, confirmed his suspicion and found a great plumber to work on New Year's eve to install a new pump. Problem was solved.
