Basement Underpinning/Structural Work & Garage Slab

Waterproofing review in Old Toronto

We worked with New Depths on two projects in our home. Lowering our basement with extensive structural work on our 1900's home as well as constructing a new slab for our 1.5 car garage. Mark and his team were extremely knowledgeable and professional. They completed the work safely, quickly, and exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend calling up Mark if you are considering underpinning your home.

The garage slab was a relatively quick one - certainly the underpinning work was a little more involved. I remember the first time we went down to your original basement. After demolishing all of those interior structural walls and installing new steel span beams the result downstairs was dramatic. I am certain you are going to enjoy that fantastic new living space downstairs and hopefully I'll have a chance to have a look!

Excellent First Class Underpinners

We cant speak highly enough of Mark and his team. From day 1, we knew we were in good hands. As the neighbours from the previous review, we echo all their sentiments, we would highly recommend Mark to anyone looking for underpinning services. The project was not a straight forward one and brought some new and complex challenges but we always felt that Marks passion and experience was more than capable of completing the work to their excellent high standards. He has a great crew that worked on the house for 3 months and made the whole experience about as stress free as a job of that level can be. Again, definitely consider this company for your home and you wont be disappointed.

You are in good hands with New Depths

All construction projects have unknowns. The hallmark of a great contractor is communicating clearly when they come up and working with you to come to the best solution that meets your needs. Mark and the New Depths team are the upper tier of great contractors!

Throughout our tricky project (120 year old home, previously unknown underground creek, job done in parallel with our adjoined Neighbour, tricky street parking bin access, etc.) we felt cared for and knew that Mark and team always had our best interest top of mind. We would absolutely recommend New Depths to anyone looking to get some more usable space in their home via underpinning!

Good afternoon MA&JC! What a brilliant project you and your neighbours were able to undertake together! This was the first project New Depths Underpinning has done in which adjoining semi-detached homes decided to underpin at the same time. Logistics were challenging but manageable - one bin location for both homes, sawcutting/creating an opening in the shared basement wall, and accessing both homes from one entrance were all new but solvable problems. Varying soil conditions, old crumbling flagstone foundations, and unexpected water infiltration increased the level of complexity but in the end we were able to achieve the planned 8ft basement ceiling height. Basement Structural Repair / Underpinning

I cant recommend Mark and his team highly enough. We were struggling on how to approach the foundation repair in our house, having received a variety of very different advice on how to proceed, and from our first meeting with Mark we were put at ease by his insight, generosity, and knowledge. It was an easy choiceand a reliefto proceed with Mark, hes a consummate professional, always punctual, clear, and communicative.

The crew who worked on our house were very hardworking, warm, polite, and pleasant to have aroundthe quality of their work was excellent and their demeanour made an inevitably noisy and dirty process less stressful than it might otherwise have been. The work went smoothly and communication was great throughout.

We are very happy with the outcome of our projectbut also very appreciative of the processit was a pleasure to work with Mark and his crew, eminently trustworthy, they made a stressful project as stress free as it could possibly be! We highly recommend them for your underpinning projects!

Basement underpinning

I worked with Mark of New Depths Underpinning to lower the basement floor level, install new drain lines, and rebuild the existing walk-out. He was extremely professional and communicative throughout the whole process, and great at trouble-shooting solutions to any unforeseen site conditions. Working in early January through March of 2024 had it's challenges - as did the "postage stamp size" bin location LOL. The reality is that we work year-round through snow, slush, rain, etc... it doesn't matter to us we're happy to keep getting jobs done! Exceeded expectations at every step

Mark was an absolute professional from the very first contact to beyond the end of the job. He provided clear communication at every step of the process and earned our full trust by being clear and transparent. He was very helpful and took the time to explain things to us that also gave us confidence through what is a crazy process of underpinning our house!. Mark never hesitated to do things the right way instead of cutting corners.
Finally, the crew working on our property were friendly and respectful.

Structural Work in Basement

Mark and his team did some structural work on the joists in our basement so that a post beside the stairs could be removed. He was professional, friendly, efficient and detail-oriented. I can't say enough about Mark, his team, and how he conducts his business and would not hesitate to hire New Depths again.

Fantastic for underpinning (+ related structural work)

Working with Mark was great. He's knowledgeable, thoughtful, meticulous, transparent and reliable. He instilled confidence throughout the project. He dealt with issues as they arose reasonably, in consultation with us all along the way. The neighbours all spoke highly of Mark and his crew - considerate, tidy, etc. The quality of the work is high, and Mark was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend New Depths for underpinning!

Dmytro (site foreman) and the entire team at New Depths worked thoughtfully throughout the entire project - especially when it came to shoring and supporting floor systems, point loads, and multiple levels of masonry walls before removing significant load bearing walls at basement level. We also always enjoy meeting other trades and professionals on these projects and you really had a great team to work with (architect, structural engineer, finishers). I can't wait to see the basement come together - you're really going to enjoy those 8.5ft+ ceilings, open spaces, heated floors, and nice new big windows!

Amazing service

Mark and his team were amazing. There was great communication while the work was being done. His team was always pretty much daily (unless he let me know otherwise), and they got the job done quickly, and with a high standard for quality.

We were also planning some other work in the house with a general contractor and Mark and team were able to work super well to coordinate and organize things with him.

Great work, done carefully

Changing our foundation was something we didn't consider lightly, but it helped when Mark explained he does it more conservatively than required.
