Augering laundry line.

I called Drain pro on Dec 9 as I had water from my washer on laundry room floor. They advised it's a 50.00 service fee. They arrived assessed the problem. They estimate the worst possible scenario, said they may have to snake the entire system. The estimate was 339.00! I was vulnerable and wanted the problem rectified. It took him half an hour, snaked the line left, and the water was still backing up, when i went to do laundry. He came back the next morning, discovered it was an air lock from tape that we had on to hold the hose in place to drain the water from the machine. We had this tape on there and he replaced it. He wasn't aware obviously it could cause an air lock!
Like the other person mentioned I find his business practices unethical and will not use them again!

Unclog toilet

I called Drain-Pro to unplug a toilet. The dispatcher advised of the $49.95 service charge but, when asked, would not give me even a ballpark on what it might cost for the job. I asked whether the technician would be a Journeyman and was told that it would be. The technician, a 4th year apprentice, arrived and advised that the flat rate was $229 + the $49.95+gst for a total of close to $300. I was surprised and said I would prefer just to pay by the hour and was told that wasn't possible. It took 10 minutes to fix the problem! The technician was courteous and I was happy with the work. I think the price was unreasonable and not providing even a rough price range when I asked on the phone is an unethical practice.

Bathroom Sink drainage

Very funky smelling, slow draining bathroom sink....
My husband is a very handy guy and could not solve this problem. He tried boiling water, baking soda and vinegar, took it appart and used a plumber snake...nothing worked.
I called Drain Pro (found their add in the phone book). He arrived early, was very persistant, resolved the issue, and cleaned up after him-self!!!
It was not a quick or easy problem, but he kept working at it for well over an hour, it appeared to be fixed. Rather than leave, he ran water for about 5 minutes...after-which it slowed again. Thank goodness he hadn't left. It took another 1/2 hour before it was working fine. I wasn't charged by the hour...I felt it was a fair price for the job. And it has bee 2 weeks and it is still working fine.

Approximate cost of services:
$250.00
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Don't wait too long. The daily usage of shaving cream, toothpaste, etc. builds up in the drains. Since I don't like to use chemicals whenever possible, I will make sure to use vinegar and baking soda on a regular basis to avoid a reoccurance.
