Insulating an upscale garage

I hired Foam comfort after getting a very nice site inspection from their estimator. When they arrived to do the job, I was wondering what I would have to deal with when it came to the workers on site.
They were exceptional !!!!!!!
I am a designer and work with many trades and have had a lot of bad experiences.
They were happy, polite, well groomed and very proactive on protecting area's that need protecting and actually left the site cleaner than it was before they arrived.
I have used other foam companies in the past, but will only be using Foam Comfort for the rest of my career !!!!!!

Removed and replaced attic insulation

We arranged for removal of old fibre glass attic insulation, applying a vapour barrier of spray foam and then a new layer of cellulose insulation blown in on top. The crews were very courteous and professional. They called to confirm timing the day prior. They took care to protect flooring and furniture and did an excellant job of cleaning up afterwards. The staff was efficient provided excellent follow-up and were very patient when it came to answering the many questions we had.

Foam and Air Krete

Foam Comfort has done 3 jobs for me. Foam on the outside of my house in 2008, foam in 2009 in my attic and front wall and air krete for sound proofing on the interior shared wall in 2012. The service in 2008 and 2009 was excellent. The foam worked wonderfully and my heat bill dropped a lot.

In 2012 I purchased Air Krete. It was sold to me as good for sound proofing my shared semi wall. Unfortunately, it was installed and did not work as sound proofing. In fact, the fiber glass batts that used to be in the wall worked better. I called to report this. They agreed to give me 50% off the price. I accepted this settlement. I will now buy sound proof drywall instead.

Exterior Wall / Header Insulation

We had Foam Comfort insulate our basement headers and our exterior walls (and some of our shared wall with our semi-detached neighbor).

The service was very professional, the crew arrived on time and worked carefully in and around our house. We had the Air Krete product sprayed into our walls. There were a few places where it turned out it couldn't be applied due to existing insulation which they had informed us might happen. The work came in on budget.

Overall we were very pleased with the service and the products. The Air Krete product we were especially excited about as it made for a relatively simple way for us to insulate our older home and also has some great additional benefits.

Thank you for taking the time to respond on this site and for choosing Foam Comfort for your insulation needs. We are confident that AirKrete will offer you great savings on your energy bill and the sealing of the headers will stop significant air leakage as well.

spray foam and cellulouse

used foam comfort to spray a continuation wall and do an atticc top up. The people that came were very friendly and helpful. Although I am happy with the jiob, I would look a bbit harder to find a differnt company for the cellulose again. They end up outsorucing so I likely could have found a better prie if I went directly with another company. Nothing against them, they did a great job, but felt I could probably found a betterr bang for my buck when I realized they outsource that side of the business.

Company Response

Thanks for your review on Homestars. It is unfortunate that we only received a 7 on this job, seeing that everything was done properly and priced very competitively and also that you said you were happy with the job.

The company that does the cellulose is actually a family member. The reason that we outsource to him is that we don’t do the volume required to keep a full time cellulose crew on board as we specialize in sprayed polyurethane foam insulation. I am also aware that the companies that “do it all” often do neither service justice. I know the quality offered by the cellulose crew to be far beyond the industry standard, same for my fully-licensed spray foam crews. We feel that this is the best way to service our clients.

As you may remember, we quote both the loose fill and spray foam on separate estimates so that our customers are free to choose only one estimate without being obligated on the other.

Hope that clarifies the issue.

Spray foam and airkrete insulation

I had Foam Comfort install spray foam insulation in my attic and airkrete insulation in the exterior walls of my second floor. The workers arrived on time and finished the jobs efficiently, staying longer if need be to make sure they were finished within a day. I was charged exactly what was quoted, even when the jobs required more insulation than they originally thought. The spray foam in the attic allowed us to maintain our attic storage space despite a low ceiling. We noticed a significant difference in the temperature of the house immediately. I knew there would be a lot of holes in the walls with the AirKrete, but the patches weren't quite as good as I thought, so it took longer than I expected to get everything repainted and back to normal. That being said, the Airkrete also made a huge difference in the temperature of the house, and we noticed the furnace does not turn on nearly as much as it used to. I definitely think that the AirKrete was worth the work. Most importantly our house is much more comfortable.

Attic insulation

The cellulose insulation increased the R rating from 8 to 50 plus. The work crew arrived on time, lay down protective floor and stair matting, and then pumped the cellulose insulation into the attic. This was Followed by post installation clean up. While the square footage seemed about 50 square feet above other estimates I had received(800 vs 850 sq ft), this did not effect the cost as 800 falls within the same cost band as 850 sq feet. The subsequent energy audit confirmed the R rating had increased above 50. I am pleased with the work carried out via this company and the use of a natural insulation product. I recommend Foam Comfort Inc.
