Took possession of our new home in Embrun 3 months ago and we couldn't be happier. We had looked at a lot of different builders in many towns east of Ottawa and Melanie Construction seemed to have the best quality, nicest houses that we found! Julien and co. are easy to deal with and we were actually able to move into our home 2 weeks ahead of schedule! It's also good to note that they include a lot of extra features "standard" in their homes as where we found most other builders we would have had to upgrade. I highly recommend them if you're looking for a new build home at top quality, and on time delivery.

The previous reviewer sounds anal and difficult to please or just doesn’t understand how the construction industry works. Harsh words and review which honestly couldn’t be further from the truth.

My wife and I recently moved to Russell and had a great experience with julien and his entire team. Their building quality and attention to detail is second to none for the style and price point. I found that julien was very willing to accommodate special requests. His trades and repair staff are always respectful and job sites kept tidy. I was amazed at how organized the mechanical room was finished in my basement compared to previous track builders we’ve built with.

In terms of the community, we have amazing neighbors and wouldnt trade this decision for anything. Great place to live and raise a family and the neighbourhood feels like home. I’m happy the previous reviewer moves every three to four years and hopefully won’t have to cross paths. You really should choose words more carefully when leaving reviews that affect people’s livelihood. They couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Melanie Construction is a family owned company which means you are working with owners who care. They don't just build in a community they are building a community that they live in. They are very much a part of making Russell and Embrun desirable places to live and raise your family or to retire. With an emphasis on quality, a huge list of standard features 79+, the only reason to upgrade is for personal preference because a standard Melanie Home is of the highest caliber. When you decide to build a Melanie home you work directly with the owner. You are not passed about waiting for answers to questions and decisions - you walk through the entire process with the builders who then ensure that your dream home is built for you. It is a pleasurable experience and you don't have to wait forever to get into your new home. I would definitely build another home with Melanie Construction and I highly recommend anyone who is looking to build to come to Melanie Construction. You will enjoy your experience and live in a friendly community with ample amenities, schools, stores, health care, shops, and activities. Easily the worst possible service provided by any company we have ever dealt with. The son relies on the reputation his father built while being in business for 30 years, and he will tell you that story every time you see him. What he hasn't figured out is that now he's running the company, he needs to maintain the reputation. During our first year inspection they failed to complete all of the necessary defects. During the second year, they still missed items. As a family that has had to move every three or four years for work, we have dealt with numerous builders, and none as unscrupulous as this company. They have no standards as far as the cleanliness of their work sites, or respect for those who live around the job sites. It is to be understood that a subdivision under construction will be noisy and dirty, however a little clean up of the work area goes a long way. Their after purchase service is terrible, and the current son who operates the company is beyond words for a public website. If you buy one of their homes, do not buy direct, and do not expect anything that resembles service.
