Olsen OMGB Boiler Install

Had an Olsen OMGB Boiler Installed less than 2 months ago. Met Mike at the Exhibition and Eythan shortly after... install went well Eythan even brought us Tim Hortons. Everyone from Mike to the installers were respectful and punctual. Good local guys. Everything went well - what more can I say? I would recommend, and have, to my friends and family.

Ductless LG

We had the unit installed and while it worked for the first year, trouble started in the 2nd. The minute we needed repairs, it started costing us money. That is, if we could get mike or anyone from the company on the phone.
At this point he promised to cone today at 2pm but no show. No call to say he had to reschedule, same as other reviews on this site. His cel voicemail is now full.
Apparently mike is now the repair guy too, he climbed a ladder and did something to our unit this spring.
It's hot out, I'm pregnant, and our house is boiling. Mike and his company are nowhere to be found. When u read good reviews of this company don't believe them.
Dishonest!!!!
DO NOT USE!!!!! AVOID THEM!!!! My next call is to the BBB and LG to complain so maybe they'll stop them from selling their products.

Air conditioner installation and warranty

Purchased both Trane furnace and AC from this company. Had a big problem because they would not honour the warranty. In fact, we found out that are no longer authorized Trane dealers (they were fired). Owner was very rude and condescending.

Their warranty is worthless and if you do use them or any company, make sure you get an extended warranty from the manufacturer. Otherwise, you will be out of luck. Beware of their maintenance program which charges $150 per year per unit and is not required from the manufacturer. Proper maintenance is important but mostly you just need to make sure that nothing is impeding the function of the unit (eg grass, trees, etc).

Company Response

I am sorry that your experience with us was negative....
our contract is clear proper care and maintenance if you read your owners
manuals it will be clear.
unfortunately your issue occurred before my time and we are now under new
management.we now sell the American Standard which is actually the parent brand of Trane....that deal was in motion before I came along.
please feel free to contact the office...it would go a long way to rectifying the situation.

ductless air-conditioner

Michael [last name removed--Ed] the main salesperson at United and he is dishonest. A so-called "guarantee" is useless with United Energy. If you have a problem with your unit, he won't return phone calls and will do everything to avoid you.
If you get their "warranty" you have to pay them $150 every year to clean your unit. It literally took a teenager 15 minutes and all he did was spray it with a hose - I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. He bragged about cleaning 20 units a day. $3,000 - not a bad day's work.
Look at all the reviews above. They are dishonest.
STAY AWAY.

Air Conditioning install

Their installer was professional and did good work. We have a water heater with a boiler, so needed an interior wall mounted unit that has connections through the wall to the exterior unit. This was a tough job but all done very cleanly.

New Boiler-Bad Customer Service

United Energy is the worst company out there!

They have a great sales pitch, and are very attentive up until the point where you have paid them. Once payment has been received, and issues are not fully resolved, you will never hear from them again.

We got a new boiler and a/c installed in nov/08, in jan/09 the motor on our boiler broke. We called United Energy, that insisted that it would be quicker for us to call Direct Energy and get them to diagnose the problem-which cost us $100 plus tax. We found out the motor needed to be replaced and once again were told by United Energy that we should use Direct Energy and they would reimburse us for both charges.

Really what choice did we have when it was -20 outside! So we got Direct Energy to come in and fix everything. The next day we tried calling to let them know that we had faxed in our paperwork for the reimbursement. It has now been more than 3 weeks, and after almost daily phone calls to numerous different numbers, we have not heard from them.

After reading about them on the BBB this morning, I am now realizing that this is not the first time this terrible company has done this.

If you are looking for a heating/cooling company, I would recommend using a different company-b/c if something goes wrong you are never going to hear from them again.

furnace replacement

I have to admit the original job was good and quick but I am annoyed with the lack of info that was given has to how much of the project was part of the quote. The furnace was replaced but as an after thought, I was told the base of the duct work that attaches to the furnace is another part. They then came back to replace the rusted portion but again failed to mention that the filter area was yet Another! part. That's when the problem started. The short of it is that I have been told on three different occasions, the last of which was to happen today, that someone would come back out to complete the job.It took 14 phone calls before someone bothered to call me back the last time. Each time, they failed to show up or call to make other arrangements, or simply apologize. I can't believe a simple $25.00 part and a half hr. job has lead me to this. If the sales rep. gave a bit more detailed info., this could have been avoided.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Educate potential customers as to what is/isn't involved. RETURN PHONE CALLS, Show up when they say they will, show basic customer service.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Ask detailed questions as to what they will replace.

Company Response

I found you in the files and I am going to respond to you based on the notes, we are under new management but I can see what we are dealing with
the customer has left out important details....
the items in dispute were never contracted for, we dont work for free.
the 14 phonecalls were directed at an employees cell phone and occurred in a 12 hour period....and the customer had contact numerous times.
the customer persisted to harass for several days and on one occasion belched into the phone for one message.
We feel a website like this can improve our business model,
but for some it is simple extortion "give me ,for free" or I will
call your good name into question.
this is an example of how a website such as this can be abused.

service call / install

I had United install a boiler last month the install went superbly
and our salesman eythan was incredible took great care walking us through the process and helping us get all the rebate and grant money we were entitled to. We were surprised when there was a service call required on the unit 1 week later, but the company responded quickly and without hesitation and when we called Eythan he was apologetic and helpful.
We feel very good about our purchase

Maintenance on furnace purchased from United in 2005

I purchased a new furnace and air conditioning system from United Energy in 2005. The install went well and I was satisified. The first season I used the furnace the heat kept going out and I was without heat at least 5 times that winter. I would call for service and it would take mutliple phone calls to get help. I complained and the company replaced the thermostat free of charge. I was satisified. This year the humidifer was leaking so I had to turn it off. I started calling service at the start of November - I received one phone call and Ethan, he advised me, Steve would call me but they were busy with people without heat. After a week or so with no calls I started calling them every day - they have an answering service only - you never reach anyone in the company. I did however, manage to get Ethan's cell number and started calling there as well. It is now THREE months since I started my calls and to date they have not called me back! ( I was even suffering from nosebleeds during this time due to the dryness) Other than getting in the car and sitting in front of their office I was at a loss as to what to do. I have since called [another company] and they came out immediately to fix the problem. I will never deal with United Energy again and regret having chosen them to install the furnance - I would rather deal with a company that follows through!
