We have been having nothing but problems with our Kitchenaid fridge we bought from Tasco and was delivered in November 2022.
The fridge was part of a much larger order that included a hood, a wall oven, a microwave, and a Wolf range.
Less than a year after we got the fridge, we started having problems. The fridge was getting too cold and would run continually and freeze all our food. It was still under warranty, so they came and "repaired" the water line to the ice maker last summer. They said it was running all the time trying to make ice - which cooled down the fridge too much and froze our food.
That did not stop the fridge from freezing all of our food, so they came out again and replaced the motherboard in the fridge just before the warranty ran out.
During this series of unsuccessful repairs of the fridge, we kept losing full fridge loads -- probably 5 or 6 in total -- of food because the fridge would keep freezing everything.
Initially, Kitchenaid thought the problem was the water line that was broken - and they repaired it. (It wasn't the water line.) Then, Kitchenaid thought the problem was the motherboard - and they replaced it. (It wasn't the water line.)
Earlier this spring, we started getting ice build up in the back of the fridge which we noticed because the drawers started to scrape against the ice.
Kitchenaid sent a repair person out to replace the compressor/fan problem -- which was actually covered under the warranty, even though the fridge was more than a year old.
The technician suggested that after the repair was made, we defrost the fridge completely and the fridge would be back to normal.
Less than a month later, we are getting ice build up in the back of our fridge again.
Now, Kitchenaid wants to charge us for the technician and any future repairs. They said that we could buy an extended warranty on the fridge, but we are not spending $100/month on the fridge that nobody can seem to repair. Good money after bad doesn't make a ton of sense.
This fridge has not been working properly since well before the warranty ran out.
The repairs Kitchenaid made when it was under warranty never fixed the problems. It seems that they were making repairs that either they knew wouldn't fix the fridge or should have known.
Now, we are stuck with a fridge that is less than 2 years old, is constantly in need of repairs, and when the repairs are made, they don't actually fix the fridge. Which means that we lose everything in our fridge over and over again.
We feel stuck with a $5,000 fridge that Tasco sold us and Kitchenaid can't repair and won't replace
It seems we bought a lemon from Tasco and neither Kitchenaid nor Tasco is standing behind the appliance.
It's disappointing because on every other purchase from Tasco, we are happy with what we got, but now have to possibly buy a new fridge to replace a new fridge.
