I found Howieco on this site and after getting a few quotes decided to go with them. Very glad I did! Ken is great at his job - he was honest in telling me what to expect and lived up to his word in every way. His team was great and really knew their stuff. I must admit I'm a bit jaded when it comes to hiring contractors around the house as I've had troubles in the past, but Ken and his team were really outstanding in making things go as smoothly as possible - on time and on budget. Very happy customer!

Ken and his team visited us twice before starting work and explained all the work and all the costs associated. It was very helpful to know what had to be done vs. what could wait and how that would affect the overall cost. Donald finished the work quickly and professionally, cleaned up everything and communicated with us each day to update on their progress.

This is a review that's 6 months overdue. Ken and his team came and removed all knob and tube, upgraded the breaker box and re-ran the feed to the HWT (changed it from the flat rate line to the main line) from my small leslieville home. The quote was quite reasonable, kept the holes to a minimum and his team finished it quickly. He even fixed items not on the original quote and didn't charge for it. I would definitely recommend Howieco to anyone needing electrical work.

When we bought our (first) house, our inspector mentioned right away that hiring an electrician to remove existing knob and tube wiring as well as address some possible safety concerns which was a product of the former owners completing some questionable electrical work. We found Ken and HowieCo through this site and wanted to hire someone that was local. While Ken was not the lowest quote, we felt comfortable with him right away as he always returned phone calls, called to confirm appointments and promptly provided us with our estimate and responded to our emails. His crew started the job on time as promised and on their last day left no mess. He has even promised to come over when our chandelier is received off back order to install it free of charge. We will definetly be looking to Ken when we remodel our kitchen and basement.

When I bought an older home, I expected some challenges and it was no surprise when the inspector mentioned the knob and tube wiring. Past owners over the years had installed new(er) wiring and even a new 100 amp board, but knob and tube was still running to many outlets.

5 different contractors came in with 5 very different quotes but from the outset I trusted and had a good feeling about Ken Howard. He provided a detailed outline of what needed to be done, how long it would take and how much it would cost.

His crew came in and did everything that needed doing with minimal cuts in walls and ceilings and no contractor drama. They were polite and good natured and I was very comfortable having them in my home.

It was easier for them to work as I hadn't moved in yet and some of the internal walls had be stripped to the studs but with an older home there are always surprises (odd and downright dangerous wiring, strange wall configurations, etc). Despite the challenges and working around other contractors, they finished on time and on budget. They even came back to relocate my electrical box and put the last ceiling light up after I had paid the bill!

HowieCo is now my electrician of choice and I happily refer them.

While we started planning a finished basement in Toronoto our client asked if we could use Ken (Howieco). While I normally use another electrician for finishing basements in Toronto, I was open to the idea. There were many changes from our original plan. We ended up lowering the floor, water proofing, adding a backflow preventer and a sump pump. Needless to say this delayed Ken and his crew a great deal. I never heard a peep about that obvious delay. Donald who was the supervisor is very easy to deal with. Donald had some nice suggestions that improved my finished product. This finished basement was not to complicated, however I am confident they would be up for the challenge.

I had Howieco come in and run a line for our new dryer in our basement. Ken came in and had a look at our panel and the basement. the part where the line was being run is completely unfinished, so the job was a breeze. He also noticed that the existing outlet near our laundry tub was not a GFCI outlet and suggested we change it. I agreed.

A few days later his crew showed up, right on time, and got right to work. They answered all my questions, and were done in about an hour without any problems.

We're planning to get more electrical done over the winter, and plan to use them again.

I came across Howieco on this very site a few months ago and decided to trust all the reviews. I have a very old house that needed an electrical service upgrade to 100 Amp as well as a complete rewire (in addition to other renovation work). Ken responded to my initial call right away and provided a clear estimate within a few days. He also took the time to explain the work that i needed and was willing to work with me to save some money where i could. I had a general contractor, Kawagrup supervising the other repairs and he turned out to be a nightmare. The job was severely delayed and i was unable to proceed with the electrical until a couple of months from his first visit. Turned out i needed him to come in and work at the last minute and he was able to get crew in to start work within 2 days!. His team including Donny did an excellent job and Ken even made a few trips down after the rough in to discuss any minor issues such as light fixture placement etc., with no problem. The job ended up being delayed until late December due to problems with my GC, and Ken was able to get someone on on Christmas eve to finish the rest of the work including installing the microwave so we could have a good Christmas after the nightmare i had with my GC. His work is very clean and great quality - i have had a subsequent contractor in to finish the rest of my reno work and he commented on the really good electrical job. I have already recommended Howeico to a few people.

I will be using Howieco again to rewire my other home next year, he was such a joy to work with and i hope whoever reads this does not hesitate to hire them!

Ken Howard, Donald and the team were EXCELLENT. They upgraded all of the electrical, including the service from the street, the panel and wiring throughout our 1914 house and were clean, efficient, friendly, answered our calls and completed the work in about three days. Even with mishaps like the plaster ceiling falling down in the front hall when they were drilling potlight holes (not their fault) they worked with us to figure out how best to get it fixed and stay on schedule. I would highly recommend their work to anyone. The $8000 included potlights in our living room, front hall and upper hallway, plus installation of all of the new light fixtures and dimmers we purchased for them.

The Howieco team exceeded expectations in all respects and were a pleasure to deal with. What struck us the most: 1) The team was experienced, exceptionally respectful AND POLITE in all of their dealings - the whole team was wonderful, 2) this was a big job (they rewired a 3500 sq ft house) and once they started they worked very efficiently to complete the job within the timelines they initially estimated - working a full Saturday to complete it, 3) they did a great job of protecting our floors and keeping mess to a minimum, 4) they pointed out helpful things that needed work while they were doing the job, 5) they demonstrated a "can do" attitude for every challenge the job presented, 5) they demonstrated pride in everything they did, 6) Ken was always there when we needed him (and only a phone call away when he was not on site) and provided practical solutions to challenges the job presented, 7) things we added to the project after it started such as pre-wiring for a hot tub and some motion sensing lights were reasonably priced, 8) there were no surprises at the end of the job. We highly recommend Howieco. Ken and his whole team were a pleasure to work with.
