Barclay Developments Inc. - No Longer in Business

Said that he could draft plans quickly and efficiently by modifying plans that had been done for another job. I paid the deposit of $1000 in good faith. Ray did not want to do work. When he did provide draft plans, they were missing detail, he had left off a room on the second floor, the third floor did not reflect actual dimensions, the frontal view was wrong, missing windows. He will not, now respond to queries and his website has disappeared.

Will initially impress. As soon as the work starts however, he will drop the ball. What follows is an incomplete list of our nightmare experience with Barclay Developments. He ...
- failed to pay trades
- misrepresented us to the trades
- provided inadequate site supervision
- presented irregular invoices
- wonky scheduling (he closed and finished the walls before finishing the electrical for instance)
The list is endless ... he didn't pressure test the heating system so we had leaks behind the walls when the system was turned on, he didn't level the floors, he told us it was allowable to vent the dryer into a void above the laundry closet, vapour barriers were incomplete, wiring was incomplete ...

The site was a consistent garbage dump and he refused to clean up saying all construction sites are the same. He lost two foremen during our job, one of whom was asked to do things he wasn't comfortable doing, Ray exagerated his abilities continually (up until very recently his website was, and may still be, cribbed from other legitimate construction firms he claimed to have a payroll of 10K/week ... the truth is he works alone and uses casual labour.)
I can't stress it strongly enough ... do NOT be taken in by his silver-tongue.
