I found A1 while doing a search online of local HVAC companies. My furnace was about 17 years old, mid-efficiency and was giving a few errors when heating up last winter. This summer my AC, which was also a little old, had trouble cooling down the house. This summer was so hot that it would run from morning until night non-stop and could barely hold the temperature. If it was extra humid or we had company, forget about it. And finally my humidifier didn't work at all, most likely because the previous owner of my house did not maintain it properly. I spent the winter using a standalone humidifier to keep the house comfortable.
In the past I just dealt with these issues since replacing these are a large expense, and I didn't feel like repairing everything when it was already really old. This year I have a newborn in the house and figured that it was time to get something that was reliable since I didn't want us to be left without cooling this summer or heating this winter.
I called A1 to provide a quote for me and Richard was there in a couple days and worked around my schedule. After a few days of thinking about the products they offered and asking a couple dozen questions I felt comfortable that A1 was the right company. I contacted Richard again to set up an appointment to finalize things, and he rearranged his schedule to meet me at a time that was convenient for me. We went over all of the details, a few more questions and signed the deal. This was a Thursday night.
Friday morning I was contacted by Ralph at A1 to set up an install appointment. Before I installed my equipment I needed an energy audit and requested duct cleaning. A1 contacted both of these companies and had them call me to set up appointments. By early afternoon, I had my audit and duct cleaning booked first thing on the following Monday and then scheduled my equipment install for Tuesday.
Tuesday morning Mike P. and Dallas showed up first thing to get an early start on the day (around 7:30am). They worked non-stop the whole morning, stopping here and there to ask me questions or explain parts of the installation to me. I forced them to take a quick lunch break since they hadn't stopped. After a short break they went right back to work and finished the install around 4pm. Mike then took the time to walk me through the whole install and showed me each piece of the equipment, where everything was, how to maintain, clean or change the parts and how to work every menu and setting on the new thermostat.
By about 4:30pm they were on their way and I was sitting in a nice cool home for the first time in ages! My new Diakin AC had no problem cooling the place down (even cooled it down while I still had the windows open!). The temperature around the house is more consistent (while before there was a noticeable temperature difference between floors). Also, since we've installed the new AC (just over a week ago) our 5 month old baby has been sleeping much better. It may be a coincidence, or it may be because her room is a much more comfortable temperature at night. I know I'm sleeping more comfortably.
Looking forward to fully testing out the setup this winter to see how our new Daikin furnace and humidifier handles our Canadian winters! I'm sure the difference will be just a great as our AC was for this summer.
