We've had hometurf lawn care servicing our lawn with their complete program for the past three years and I recently cancelled my service with them due to poor service. The first year we noticed a good improvement in our lawn, and we were anticipating an even greater improvement in our second year. However, the condition of our lawn stayed the same and I just chalked it up to a dry summer causing very little improvement. This past year (third year) their service was horrible to say the least. Their service was late each time, I contacted them multiple times in the spring and early summer to follow up when they would complete the aerating and grass seed. Every time I questioned the status on this part of the service, it was "going to be done soon". I finally contacted them in regards to this part of the service again in October, and the grass seed was finally completed on Oct 30. How is grass seed supposed to germinate at this time of year?
In addition, their application of weed control was non-existent. Each time the weed control service was done, I could only see spot spray control done, whereas large parts of the lawn wasn't even completed. I notified hometurf in the summer that our lawn was covered in weeds and requested an additional weed control application, and this did not help because it was applied in spot locations as well. Our lawn as of 10/31/17 is still full of all types of weeds, yet hometurf technicians who were at my property 10/30/17 did not note that in their report they left me.
I followed their recommendations this year, de-thatch the lawn - done, grass not water enough, installed in ground sprinklers - done. For each report this year it was noted by hometurf there wasn't anything wrong, grass cut height correct, watering correct, thatching correct, no insects etc. Yet why did my lawn look much worse than my neighbors who use a different company yet have the same number of visits?
When requesting an analysis and quote from another company, they indicated my lawn was malnutritioned and having bare spots, this being the same day that home turf visited my location earlier in the day. If we have a professional company servicing our lawn with their "top of the line" service for three consecutive years, our lawn should not look malnutrioned or have bare spots EVER!
As a result of their poor service I would not recommend hometurf based on my experience with them. Their price might be a little better than their competitor, but you get what you pay for. And if I'm going to pay for professionals to complete a job, I would expect to be happy with their service not waiting for the services I paid for in advance to finish ASAP.
