We started to renovate our basement and hired Sammy for 2 window enlargement and installation and to create the 3rd window as we wanted more natural light in our basement. We’ve got more quotes from several contractors and we chose Sammy based on these reviews, availability and price. He did a great job and we are happy with our new large windows. Sammy worked like for his own house, did some extra-work and gave us very good advises on our ongoing basement reno project. We had SmartHome Handyman complete a main floor remodelling on our 1930's-era semi-detached home last spring. The job involved removing the partition wall between the living room and dining room, relocating electrical outlets, installing a pocket door, removing the original wood strip flooring, installing a new pre-finished hardwood floor and installing pot lights, while preserving the original baseboards, plate rail and crown moulding. Sammy gave us thoughtful input on the scope of the job, and provided a detailed quotation. His pricing was fair, considering the work involved, and he kept us up-to-date on his progress throughout the remodelling. The job took a little longer than originally planned, but this was due to condition of the subfloor, which needed to be replaced - and, in fairness, he advised us early on that it would be difficult to anticipate everything that might crop up when working on an older home. Sammy and his crew worked weekends to get the job finished on time, and we're delighted with the results! We'd definitely recommend SmartHome Handyman to friends and family.

Our nightmare began when we decided to replace our roof. After the work was completed we noticed that all our bathroom exhaust fans were not working. We mentioned this to our roofers, and discovered that they had mistakenly removed our bathroom exhaust fans (which were roof mounted) and replaced them with regular vents! By the time we mentioned this to the roofers (which was that
same day), it was too late, they had already thrown away all of our fans. To make matters worse, they did not want to take full responsibility for their mistakes. Understandably, this made the whole situation very very stressful.

After hours of research, we finally decided to install in-line fans for our bathrooms. We had interviewed many different trades people from HomeStars for the job, and decided to go with Sammy.
It was evident from the beginning that we had made the right choice. He was very patient, extremely
accommodating, and genuinely cared about what we were going through. He followed up with us
throughout the process, and took the time to answer all our questions, which were many. Now, thanks to Sammy we have 5 functioning bathroom fans. His quality of work is fantastic, but more importantly, he has very strong work ethics. We would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who wishes to hire a true professional.

Sammy gave me good pricing and basically worked until the job was complete, this was huge as my past experience was with contractors who just showed up whenever they wanted and things dragged on and on and on. I of course added scope as we went along and although he had other jobs, he managed to still get mine done working throughout the weekend if he had to. Offered very helpful suggestions that basically saved me a lot of money by not spending it on needless items or changes. I will be using him again and have already recommended him to other friends.

Sammy was very reliable and responsive from our first communication and he was great to work with. We had just purchased a home and had a two-week period before we moved in and wanted to accomplish a great deal in terms of improvements. Sammy was very dedicated and came up with some great suggestions and recommendations. As we went along the scope of work evolved and we ended up with a long list of improvements, including: kitchen cabinet installation, painting walls and ceiling throughout, new garage man door, new baseboards and moldings, new light fixture in bathroom, installation of a garbage disposal, new fireplace facade, widening of doorway in family room, etc. Overall we were happy with the work that was done and we are looking forward to having Sammy back to finish a couple of jobs that we were not able to have completed while he was on site.

Like what the other reviews say, Samy and his SmartHome Handyman Renovation Services prove to be a good choice. My husband and I had a small paint project. Samy's price is very reasonable and the work done is satifying. We would recommend him and his company to those of you who're looking for good quality work and reasonable pricing.

After Plumbing Mart took 100% of our money but only poorly finished 50% of the work over a 6 month period, we were in a bad situation as we had to have our home ready for sale within a few weeks. Sam from SmartHome Handyman came to our rescue. He had excellent suggestions to help us save time and money. Fixing other contractors mistakes is something not a lot of people want to tackle but Sam arrived everyday with a smile and positive attitude. Sam takes pride in his work and the bathroom renovation he completed, painting and drywall repairs which he performed in other areas of our home were all great. Thanks Sam.

Sammy, with the help of our colour consultant, completely transformed our home. The best part was he fixed many of the mistakes of our previous handyman- patching holes, plumbing work, and fixing the front door lock.

Sammy’s communication was straight forward, honest, and he was a pleasure to have around. Sammy handled additional challenges that arose, once the work was underway and any minor changes requested from us as the client, with professionalism, ease and grace.

After a few quotes I went with Sammy from Smarthome Renos mainly from the good reviews from this site. He began the project August 2008 and finished February 2009 turning a totally gutted basement into a basement apartment which included a kitchen and bathroom. Overall he did a great job and I was satisfied with his work. The work took a bit longer than I would've like because of a few things out of Sam's control (other contractors coming and going like the waterproofing guys and the tankless water heater installers, some helpers he hired that didn't work out, etc.) but it was understandable given the circumstances.

Sam's a very accomodating and friendly guy. He's professional and works in a cooperative manner, letting me know what's going on each step of the way. His rates are very competitive and oftens over-delivers on his promises -- no kidding. Sam's a good contractor and I'd definitely recommend him to for anyone doing a home reno project.
