He is a freindly, honest, reliable, creative, knows his job and what he is doing, clean after his work, hard working man, insist to give you the best job, has lots has patience on his job and a handyman you can depend on because he knows his work and knows what he is doing. I hire t Sam to expand and renovate my Bathroom on the second floor. I have very specific requirements due to disability to be able to use bathroom facilities with ease.

Sam created access from bedroom as well as configured stack-able washer and dryer in the bathroom. Created my dream bathtub (build in. He added pot lights in the ceiling. His price was quite competitive and he did great job and on schedule.

I would recommend his services and I would hire him again.

Samy is fantastic.
Honest, reliable, professional, creative, skilled, always positive and extremely generous. He could find a solution in any difficult job, finish this job in a proper way and never cut corners. All those days of renovation I had a feeling it is a closest friend working in my house. He converted my old and ugly powder room in a modern one, and installed tiles and spotlights in the kitchen. He has done a lot of jobs,
that were not shown in the contract, like fixing the door, replacing the
lights and sink, installing a grab bar for my husband, etc.
Renovation is a very stressful process but with Samy it was much easier to survive through those days. He even taught me how to fulfill some simple jobs around the house and gave me a box of tools as a Christmas gift.
I am looking forward to renovate our second washroom with Samy.

Sam started off very strong but his work quickly descended into indifference. Two examples are: He left one ceiling light not operational and left painting unfinished. Finally the work remained uncompleted.. Avoid this person and ignore his low estimate. You'll get much less than you paid for and end up having to finish the job yourself or hiring someone else. In summary:
painting incomplete
stairs not varnished (wasn't in the contract-who knew?
working ceiling light not working and left like that
paint over enamel peeling because surface not primed as he was asked
light switch improperly installed and left like that
his portion of oak stairs not as promised
cupboard on landing amateurish
took 6 weeks instead of promised 3 weeks- kept disappearing for days on end
Poor communication skills. Demeaned and abused his helper till he quit, which was too bad since he seemed to know what he was doing.
Conveyed insufficient info to subcontractor who did the stairs and got in argument.-I had to talk to them only to find out that he had ordered only bottom half of stairs. They were kind enough anyway to send for free solid oak planks and other components.
Stairs not done as asked when he did the upper stairs.
I'll stop here but the list goes on.
On the plus side he was cheap

Samy, owner of SmartHome Handyman was contracted to renovate a rough basement into an appealing 1-bedroom apartment in our recently purchased home in Bloor West Village. We had a very specific vision of what we wanted, and Samy came up with ingenious solutions for problems all the way from replacing the antiquated plumbing to installing unique diagonal hardwood. He undertook a wide variety of tasks -- cement work, electrical wiring, appliance installation, cupboards, sliding antique doors, central vacuum system, lighting fixtures, washer/dryer installation, and ceramic tiles.

We get fulsome praise whenever people see the apartment, and when we put out a listing, we had a lineup of potential renters and we rented the apartment within a day of listing.

Samy was very professional, punctual, respectful, pleasant. The work was of high quality, the price was right and as agreed. he was knowledgeable and attentive to details. His assistant was also very good. We are pleased with the services and will for sure have him doing other jobs around our house.

We were working with a handyman on one of our properties for over 5 months. I was lucky to find Sammy on Homestars to replace my existing handyman. Not only was he dedicated & professional, able to completed everything as promised in ONE WEEK! But he also went above and beyond to do 2 additional projects for us Tiles and Flooring. Samy was excellent! He came on prett short notice and got the job done in time for our move in date. He stayed later and even working on the weekends to get the job done on time. We got removed the mirrors and vanities from the 2 bathrooms and replaced them with new ones. We changed the backsplash in the kitchen, added handles to all the cabinets, installed a new shower set in the master bathroom. We changed abot 6 light fixutures (including chandilear lighting). We also had him help us custom make the guest and master closets. We added a few extra jobs here and there (like adding light dimmers, etc) and he was accomadating for them. His price was good and he service was excellent. he was a pleasure to work with. Will be recommending him to any friends that do projects in the future. He also told us he guarentees his work for 1 year, which made us feel at ease about any possible problems. Will be using him again in the future. We have received nothing but compliments about his work!

We were looking for estimates for the whole summer of 2010. Many contractors came; some of them gave us completely bogus estimates and worst, some of them never called back (e.g. Sonoma Contracting). Sammy kept his word and came at the time of the appointment and in few days e-mailed us a detailed estimate, based on our requirements. The project was finished in time, on budget and followed all our specs. Sammy was always listening to our suggestions and came with solutions for everything.
The project included: framing, electrical, insulation, dry-walling, tapping, painting, flooring (engineered floor and tiles), doors installation.
Sammy is a good contractor and a friendly person and I would recommend him for any basement renovation project.
