Craftwood Flooring

Called Scott from Craftwood. Mark came to my house and was very professional. He sanded the floors in a matter of two days. There was a repair job that also needed to be done. I was also having some painting done as well and Mark was able to work around the painters schedule to accomodate the job. In the end, the floors looked absolutely amazing. The original quote ended up being a little higher than what I actually had to pay. I would seriously recommend this company to anyone looking to get their floors done.

I asked Scott to come in and give a quote on refinishing my floors. He came on a Sunday, started work the next day on Monday and was done by Wednesday. We needed to have it ready so that we could move in by the Friday. He got the job done well and when we wanted it done by. The job wasn't perfect but everything looked really good and was exactly what we wanted.
I would recommend him anytime to anyone.

We decided to refinish the floors in our newly bought TH. We read the reviews on this website and decided to call Scott to take a look at our floors and give us some suggestions and a quote. He recommended us to not stain the floor and we initially agreed with him. A day later, when half of the floors were sanded, we changed our mind and asked if we could have the floor stained. He said it is still possible and asked the crew (Mathew & Mathew - great guys) to show us how the 2 colors we were considering would look on our floor. The decision was then simple and we are now happy with the choice. I have one complaint though and that's why a score of 8-9 instead of 10. After they stained the floor I saw some dust on the floor close to the vent. I hoped that they would remove it before applying the final coat but I guess they didn't because that small area is not as smooth as the rest of the floor. We did not turn on the furnace. So I guess some attention to details is necessary.

We bought an old fixer-upper in Chaplin Estates that needed a lot of work, including refinishing all of the old wood upstairs and on the stairs, as well as putting in new wood throughout the main floor. Craftwood Flooring came recommended from our mortgage broker who had done a number of house flips. Scott's team was great and the results are fantastic. Anytime we had any questions or concerns they were answered and handled quickly and painlessly.

We have an old home (late 19th century) in the Annex, and had been told that the downstairs floors could not be refinished because they had been worked on in the past. On the recommendation of a very discriminating neighbour for whom he had done a lot of work, we asked Scott for his opinion about the floor (and we wanted our pine staircase stripped down and refinished as well). He said that the floor could indeed be refinished, though some nails might show. We were very impressed by Scott's knowledge, and we hired him on the spot. We are very happy that we did.

The ancient floor turned out beautifully, with many gouges and scratch-marks disappearing completely. Yes, some nail heads do show a bit, but Scott had prepared us for this, and the overall effect is great.

The pine staircase was a more complicated job, as we wanted the risers to be stripped and refinished as well as the treads. This turned out to be a difficult job, as it had to be done by hand, and there were several coats of varnish and some paint. I suspect that the stairs took more time than Scott expected, but he stood by his original estimate, which he says he always does.
(There was one potential glitch when the installer Bibi indicated that scrapping down the risers was going to be too much work, but Scott adeptly stepped in and worked things out.) The stairs look fantastic, as does the new landing Bibi installed on the second floor.

We were pleased with every aspect of the project, which is saying a lot because moving around all of our downstairs furniture was a big pain and we were under a lot of stress for other reasons. I can't say enough about how competent and pleasant Scott was. He made lots of useful suggestions all the way through, and he was available on his cell phone throughout the process, and dropped by a time or two to see how things were going. Everything was done according to schedule, and it was all good.

From my experience, I would say that Scott Yearwood is a stand-up guy, and I would not hesitate for a moment to use him again and recommend him to friends (which I've already done).

We had many quotes before and it came down to persons being professional and we chose Scott.
He said the job would take 3 days and it did with one workman for approximately 630 square feet to do.
The gentleman he sent was Bibi, he was a great person, very knowledgible with 16 yrs experience. He was friendly and professional at the same time.
He was on time every day and cleaned up after himself.

We are very pleased with our floors and thank Bibi very much for the great job he did.

Scott and Craftwood Flooring did an amazing job on our hardwood floors in a relatively short period of time, with short notice. We are looking to sell our home and our hardwood floors were not in great shape. Some of the areas were worn, scratched, warped and they are now beautiful and uniform. They not only worked hard and did an amazing job, but they are also very trustworthy and honest. I had to find someone asap to do the floors at my new place. Scott phoned me back the same day and arranged for his guys to come over and install the new floors the next day (Amazing, because usually one has to book in advance!). They came on time, removed the carpet and replaced it with new beautiful laminate floor. They didn't leave any mess behind. The place looks great. They did it in less than a day. Scott and his crew did an excellent job replacing the old hardwood floors on our second floor and two staircases. The work took a total of 5 days and the crew arrived on time and cleaned up before they left each day. The crew was pleasant and professional and Scott was responsive to our concerns and requirements. We believe we got good value for our money and would recommend Craftwood Flooring to anyone.

After reading two glowing reviews on this site, we engaged the services of Craftwood Flooring to refinish the original pine floors in our 1840s Victorian home. Scott's crew left behind a trail of damaged skirting boards, chipped paint, plaster and woodwork, handprints from the stain on our walls and door jams, and cigarette butts in the front garden where they took breaks.

Scott apologized for the damage and adjusted the price by $100 as a good will gesture. Still, after spending two weeks prior to his crew arriving painting, filling plaster and wood cracks, it was most annoying to have to do such extensive repair work.

Professional trades people, these men were not. The finish on the floors now? Fine. The massive clean up & repair that followed? Not worth it.
