Higher Place Tree Care

We found Chris to be an excellent arborist, well informed about trees, city regulations, and masterful at the task of complex tree removal. He was able to explain clearly to us what the issues and options were. He kept us informed throughout the process and was easy to work with. A very large oak, situated on our small front lawn, had severe structural decay that compromised its integrity, and the safety of traffic, passerbys and nearby buildings. We had some idea that there were issues, but Chris took the time and care to fully assess the situation, crafted and submitted reports to the city and was able to obtain the necessary permits. We were pleased that he was able to complete the job so quickly and left the site free of debris. We are very happy with Chris' work and highly recommend his company.

Our linden was planted with love by my son almost twenty years ago. It supported many squirrel and birds nests, gave us shade while giving them shelter, and made our home a special family place. Its death to disease was devastating. Chris was empathetic, cut overs for my son to carve, and ground the stump so we can plant another tree.

Shortly after I prepared the request for a quote we received a call from the owner of Higher Place, Chris, asking if we were available for a visit from him to see the tree. Chris is an Arborist and he took a close look at our backyard sugar maple in its poor condition. He advised us that he would prepare the City of Toronto Permit filing Arborist report, remove the tree and grind the stump if that was our decision for removal. He took pictures and advised us he would email the quote. We discussed replacement trees. The next day we received and approved the quote. It was better than we had anticipated. His Arborist report was ready 7 days later. The City approved the permit a month later and Chris scheduled the removal for the following Tuesday. Chris, Sebastien and Lloyd worked all day in the pouring rain with their machines, ropes and chainsaws. When they ground the stump it took a couple of hours. A neighbour asked for some of the wood. Everything is gone and cleaned up. It was hard not to peek out the window to see the amazing machines they were operating. Thanks to Higher Place, when the fierce wind blows I can relax because before I was very worried a limb would come down and damage something or someone.

I had a large Douglas fir removed that was in poor shape & leaning towards my neighbours house. Chris handled the necessary paperwork & contact with officials to obtain the necessary permit. The tree was removed without a hitch with no damage to property. He also pruned a huge old oak tree, getting rid of substantial deadwood & making it safer for people below. Chris and his crew had a challenge with our massive willow tree in our small, narrow row house lot. They did a quick, clean, thorough, and exceptional job on this tree and our smaller linden tree. Our neighbours were impressed and so were we :). We will definitely return for any future tree needs.

We have used Higher Place Tree Care before and recently had Chris and his crew back to do more work in our backyard. Chris came out to discuss the work required, made recommendations and provided a detailed quote. The estimating and scheduling was done efficiently.

We had a small mulberry tree removed, our large cedar hedge pruned and a lot of deadwood taken out as well as some other pruning of trees and shrubs. They were very careful not to damage other plants and left the property very clean and tidy.

Chris and crew did an excellent job pruning and removing deadwood out of spruce trees, tying up very tall cedars that were drooping from heavy winter snow damage and various pruning of tall hedges and trees around my property. He was punctual for both quote and job, provided a prompt and detailed quote, and his team were pleasant to deal with and left property neat and tidy. It looks so much better! Chris was extremely easy to deal with, was prompt at giving me a quote and was able to get the work done within a few weeks. I am very happy with the work that was done on a very tall and large cedar hedge. Chris and his crew did a great job, property was cleaned up and the hedge looks great!! I would highly recommend Chris and his team and I will definitely be calling them back for some tree work in the near future.
