Higher Place Tree Care

I have a couple of trees in my backyard that need regular pruning to keep them in good shape and not to get in the way. I used to try to prune them myself but decided, at a certain age, that I should not be climbing on the garage roof, or at the top of an 8' ladder. Luckily, Higher Place was recommended to me and I decided to give them a try. Chris and his team did a great job and I have continued to hire them every year for the past few years. They are prompt and courteous, they do a great job and clean up everything and remove the cut branches when they are done. Highly recommended

We found Chris to be an excellent arborist, well informed about trees, city regulations, and masterful at the task of complex tree removal. He was able to explain clearly to us what the issues and options were. He kept us informed throughout the process and was easy to work with. A very large oak, situated on our small front lawn, had severe structural decay that compromised its integrity, and the safety of traffic, passerbys and nearby buildings. We had some idea that there were issues, but Chris took the time and care to fully assess the situation, crafted and submitted reports to the city and was able to obtain the necessary permits. We were pleased that he was able to complete the job so quickly and left the site free of debris. We are very happy with Chris' work and highly recommend his company.

Our linden was planted with love by my son almost twenty years ago. It supported many squirrel and birds nests, gave us shade while giving them shelter, and made our home a special family place. Its death to disease was devastating. Chris was empathetic, cut overs for my son to carve, and ground the stump so we can plant another tree.

Shortly after I prepared the request for a quote we received a call from the owner of Higher Place, Chris, asking if we were available for a visit from him to see the tree. Chris is an Arborist and he took a close look at our backyard sugar maple in its poor condition. He advised us that he would prepare the City of Toronto Permit filing Arborist report, remove the tree and grind the stump if that was our decision for removal. He took pictures and advised us he would email the quote. We discussed replacement trees. The next day we received and approved the quote. It was better than we had anticipated. His Arborist report was ready 7 days later. The City approved the permit a month later and Chris scheduled the removal for the following Tuesday. Chris, Sebastien and Lloyd worked all day in the pouring rain with their machines, ropes and chainsaws. When they ground the stump it took a couple of hours. A neighbour asked for some of the wood. Everything is gone and cleaned up. It was hard not to peek out the window to see the amazing machines they were operating. Thanks to Higher Place, when the fierce wind blows I can relax because before I was very worried a limb would come down and damage something or someone.

I had a large Douglas fir removed that was in poor shape & leaning towards my neighbours house. Chris handled the necessary paperwork & contact with officials to obtain the necessary permit. The tree was removed without a hitch with no damage to property. He also pruned a huge old oak tree, getting rid of substantial deadwood & making it safer for people below.
