Nice Guys Pools and Landscaping

My initial experience with the President/Owner of Nice Guys Pools was extremely positive. At the beginning of 2020, I enquired about the installation of a pool via his website. He was prompt and extremely informative with his response. In the end, this type of positive communication and information tipped the scale in me choosing this business over other big box companies.

Our pool was built with little concerns, in fact, my husband and I bought lunch for the workers and provided a continuous supply of water given the temperature that day. We even assisted in the wheelbarrowing of rocks and allowed use of our garage for overnight storage.

Upon completion of the pool, we were provided with an invoice which we paid immediately.
We had four items outstanding, two of which were paid in full (winter cover and chemical start up kit) and the other two were not charged (heater and solar cover) as they were backordered.

We were given a "loaner" ladder as the one we ordered was also backordered. Once he received the ladder, we transported his loaner ladder to another site to exchange for ours (about 30-40kms away).

We never did receive the chemical start up kit, but at the time Evyn was responding, albeit slowly, and did give us a refund upon request.

We ended up sourcing our own solar cover and heater as the owner claimed he was not able to secure either. It is noteworthy we had to pay a premium on these self-sourced products as the deal with agreed to with the owner was an "early bird pricing" on select items that we obviously missed out on.

When I tried to follow up on the winter cover, which was paid in full, I last received a response over a month ago saying he had it and would be shipping it out in the "next week or two". Despite multiple emails, texts and call/vm, I have not heard back from the president/owner or Nice Guys Pools.
Today, I sent my last email to him requesting a full refund on the outstanding winter cover which I have secured somewhere else.
It is unfortunate that this young man with a seemingly successful small business is unable to maintain a bare minimum standard of customer service, which would be to acknowledge a customer's questions and follows through on commitments he makes on behalf of his company.
I would not recommend this business.

Addendum: After sending my last email with a refund request to be paid and confirmation that I would report his conduct to the BBB, I received my refund (no email reply, just the refund.
Still would not recommend this company.

Hired Nice Guys to install new liner in my above ground pool. Upon arrival they were friendly and courteous. Soon into the install they discovered they had the incorrect liner. Evyn had stated he would get another and let me know when available. After waiting a few days he did come back and installed but ran into missing parts when installing the return. I didn’t hear back from him at this point and had to keep following up for a return date. I was a little concerned at this point as there was no communication from him whatsoever. He ended up sending his dad to complete the job.
After the pool was filled I was able to get in the pool to inspect the bottom of the liner. Immediately felt a sharp object protruding under the bottom of the liner - called immediately. Did not take any ownership but said to fix the pool had to be drained and liner pulled back. Not once did he offer or commit to do this. Since then I have found another sharp object at the other end of the pool. I have messaged throughout the summer with zero response. Looks like I will have to hire someone else as well as refill them pool.
I would Not recommend this company to anyone as you do not hear from them when there is an issue. Not at al willing to stand behind their work !!

We hired this company to install an oval above ground pool spring. The owner is quite knowledgeable and informed, but their work is sloppy to say the least. Since we were building a new composite deck up against the pool, I had informed them multiple times that I wanted the pool parallel to the house, and to not exceed beyond the side of the house. That's a pretty simple request in my opinion, but, it wasn't until the deck got framed that I noticed that it was nowhere near parallel to the house. It was also out beyond the house. As such, our deck install had to work around these issues. Specific to the pool itself, on one side, the top cap will not fit on the upright, as the wall in that section is completely out of whack. I asked them about this, i.e. if it would correct itself once filled, he simply said ... no, it is what it is. Pretty sure that was fixable.

When we finally did get in the pool, the first things I noticed was the bottom was very uneven and full of bumps and valleys. There isn't a single section of the bottom that is flat, and around the cove, there are places where there are just giant lumps of sand, and which then go to a 3" dip. The owner claimed this was also 'normal', even though my online research told me otherwise. It could and should be perfectly flat. There was also a hole in the liner on the side wall that they had no intention of fixing until I pointed it out. They knew it was there as they put a piece of duct tape over it.

So in summary, they did manage to get it installed. Was it a quality install? No. Did they adhere to my basic requirements? No. Do I think it's going to last? No. Would I hire them again? No. Would I recommend them to anybody? No.
