Tidy Out

Some parts of the cleaning were done very well but many of the floors and a flight of wood stairs were still dirty, some areas left untidier than they had been before the cleaning, and things like making the beds or cleaning the shower glass were done sloppily. One of the most annoying things was that the cleaners left their slushy, salty boots on the entryway tiles despite there being boot trays available, and then did not clean that area. The business owner would not acknowledge that the job had not been completed and insisted that I had received the cleaning that I had agreed to pay for. How can that be the case if floors are still dirty in areas that were to be cleaned? The pictures show dirt from the stairs, a small area of the bathroom and the front entryway (and despite what these pics suggest, our house is by no means filthy, we do regularly clean it - we just let the floors go for about a week before the cleaning was scheduled). I suggested that she lower the price to reflect the issues and the time I had to take to correct them, but she declined and threatened to consult a lawyer as she seemed to think I was refusing to pay, which was not the case at all. In the end I sent her an e-transfer with $25 taken off so that she can still pay her staff and not lose out too much. Not only was this a far from 'spotless' cleaning job, but is a shame that the customer dissatisfaction part of the transaction was poorly managed .
