Marijan managed the project from ideation to construction completion. He was able to project manage and stay on schedule even with all the obstacles and restrictions our commercial building came with. His dedication to details, design, quality of work, timelines, communication and budget were outstanding. We were in the loop at all times, Marijan never came to us with just a problem but numerous solutions. This whole process was painless and were thrilled with the final result!

After meeting with several builders, we agreed to work with Marijan at Archetype, he was higlhy recommended by our architects. The project met both expectations for budget and delivery. A few surprises came up due to opening up a 1930's home, but Archetype and the architects, quickly dealt with them, with no major setbacks. Archetypes work was meticulously done due to a highskill list of tradesmen, who all showed up perfectly scheduled preventing any delays. We were constantly updated about the project, our communication was open, direct and respectful. The work done included large new openings to the facade, and several removal of internal walls that included structural work, some new wiring, and new plumbing, new windows and some doors, carpentry, and built-in, painting, roofing, new kitchen, and two bathrooms, and some floors. Our home today is exactly what we were aiming for, the craftsmanship is impeccable, we are extremely happy and would recommend Marijan, and Archetype to anyone looking to endeavor in a large construction project.

Marijan and the team at Archetype Construction built a beautiful loft like home for me. They handled all of the build details from start to finish. I'm impressed with the overall quality of the work and it's clear that Marijan has an eye for design which speaks to the end result.

After an extensive basement and walk-out reno, our family engaged Archetype Design + Construction to work with us on our third floor home addition.

From start to finish, Marijan was fantastic. He took the time to sit down with me to clearly walk through the plan of attack for our project - as well as his plans to mitigate areas of risks, such as inclement weather before the roof was fully in place. He was organized and incredibly proactive in his communication in anticipation of work needing to be done in the week(s) ahead.

Our project progressed very quickly and we appreciated how hard Marijan and his team worked and the level of coordination required to get tradespeople lined up and in on time to complete our job... particularly as we had a baby on the way. And their hard work showed, as our project would have been completed ahead of schedule, were it not for a vendor delay on our stairs (no fault of Marijan's). In the end, it was completed right on time - according to Marijan's estimations.

The finished work was outstanding. As we've come to appreciate about Archetype Design + Construction, Marijan's eye for detail and commitment to quality was (as before) unparalleled. We have worked with a number of contractors in the past and none can hold a candle to Marijan's commitment to doing things right and making sure things are done well. He goes the extra mile to make sure everything is done to his satisfaction - which consistently exceeded our own.

We are very happy with our third floor addition and feel lucky we were able to work with Marijan on our project. And look forward to working with him again in the future.

Archetype Design + Construction was selected for the first phase of our home renovations, which involved digging out and installing a new walk-out from our basement as well as remodelling our basement into a home live/work studio.

As with many old homes in downtown Toronto, our basement ended up gifting us with one surprise after the next from mouldy walls, crumbling masonry, to a frightening web of electrical work patched together over the many years. Through the whole process, Marijan was forthcoming with his team's discoveries and took care to discuss options with us and painstakingly dealt with the scope changes and issues uncovered.

We were consistently impressed with his level of professionalism, commitment to our project, as well as eye for quality and detail. It gave us peace of mind and a lot of confidence in him. Now that the transformation of our basement is complete and we're moving on to the second phase of our renovation plans, we're very happy to be working with him and his team again.

Apartments two years ago. Their quality was at a very high level with very good attention to detail. Tiling and wood floor work was excellent. Marijan was very good about accommodating changes when unexpected items came up during the course of the work. Apart from that they are a great team of people and are easy to work and communicate with.

I have recently hired them again for more work, and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Archetype was selected as the preferred contractor for our coach house reconstruction project in the west end of downtown Toronto. Rebuilding the 19th century carriage house involved many complicated construction challenges which Archetype confidently took on and executed with a high level of competence. Extensive structural replacement, including new roof and floor structures within the building needed to be integrated with the 120 year old existing brick work which proved to be a delicate and intricate process. Archetype exhibited great patience and forethought during these critical initial stages that allowed for the delivery of highly complex contemporary finishing details with very little problems.
As a design focused construction company archetype was an enthusiastic partner throughout the entire construction process which was a boon for us as a exacting architectural office. Archetype’s design sense and co-operative, rather than adversarial, attitude kept the build phase productive and enjoyable for all parties involved.
Archetype's commitment and resolve continued throughout the entire project, and their meticulous attention to detail during the critical and time intensive finishing stages help to achieve a level of quality rarely seen in residential construction in this city.
Archetype has been extremely responsive in dealing with even the smallest construction deficiencies they have continued to stand by their work well after the clients have moved into their new home.

We have worked exclusively with archetype as our drywall contractor, but have recently broadened their scope to include tiling and trim carpentry. They always work hard to meet our budget and schedule, without sacrificing quality.

Marijan & Darryl their team @ Archetype completed a significant renovation of our 1880's heritage house in Cabbagetown between February and September, 2015. They did a fantastic job on the place, and delivered quality work all the way through the process. As a first time renovator, we were nervous at the start of the process & were extremely happy with our choice to work with them - when the eventual surprises were discovered along the way, they were always fair & spent time figuring out solutions that would fit our budget. I'd recommend them to anyone going through this process and am happy to share my thoughts and experience as a reference for future clients.
