Cottage renovations and siding

My wife and I hired Titan to do some major renovations to our cottage. We had our kitchen remodeled, new flooring installed throughout, and install new siding and stone on our cottage.

Not only was the work completed on time and on budget, but wew wer constantly kept updated with the progress. Our cottage is in the Coe Hill area, but we live in the states, so we were not present during the renovation itself. When we finally got to our cottage, we were thoroughly impressed with the quality of workmanship and the finished product.

If anyone is looking for a good and reliable contractor in the Coe Hill or surrounding area then Titan may be your first pick!

Before hiring them, we did our research, read all the reviews. My wife and I are believers that no company can have perfect reviews, and Titan was more than happy to explain the reasoning for the odd bad review. Their honesty just helped us make the decision that they are the best company to choose!

Company Response

Good afternoon,

Firstly, We are quite surprised that we had never received a call, but rather submit a negative review. The tenure of my crews are of no concern to our clients. This particular crew is full time with us, and have no issues if other work is taken on by them in between our projects.

Nowhere in our quote was strapping the house was part of the scope of work as it would go directly over the existing sheathing.

All issues/concerns that were brought to our attention and were addressed promptly.

We will gladly pop by to discuss your concerns.

Titan lives up to the name - fantastic job!

If you are looking for someone to take charge of your renovation project, then look no further than Titan Renovation Solutions! We moved into a new home in Sept 2019 in Courtice, and a month prior, we had gotten quotes from 4 different contractors for finishing our basement. Our decision to go with Mike from Titan Renos was such a simple one. Mike was professional, knowledgeable, never pushy and made great suggestions for the space. When we met, he drew up a mock blueprint on the spot and within a few hours presented us with a picture of what he envisioned the space to look like, based on our meeting. Mike always made time for us and always took control of the project, ensuring that our needs were met along the way. He communicated regularly so we knew who was coming into our home and when. His use of a subcontractor (Dave) was a master stroke as his work ethic was impeccable, plus.... Dave was just a super nice guy. Fast forward 5 weeks later and that picture became a reality and there was Mike putting on the final touches, including a final mop of the floor. Mike completely delivered on what he promised us - on time and on budget. We are over the moon with our sparkling new basement!! Thank you Titan Renos and we look forward to working with you again:)

Awesome bathroom reno

My husband and I hired Titan Renovations to renovate our bathroom. Not only did they take the time to provide drawings and renderings of what our new bathroom would look like, but they were very professional, clean and did the renovations is quick order. Our bathroom was completed in three weeks and we absolutely love it. Michael and his wife Janet own the company and we would recommend them to anyone!

Window and Front door replacement

We Hired Michael M and Titan Renovations to replace all of our windows and our front door system. Our home is about 60 years old and was in desperate need of new windows and a door.

My wife Edna and I are in our seventies, and Titan was referred to us by a friend. This may sound silly but I am one of those old guys that still knows how to use a computer. We did our research on Titan and Michael and even though we discovered some not-so-nice reviews, for the most part they sounded like a solid company. Edna was really excited that they were Baeumler Approved because she watches HGTV all the time.

When we met with Michael, he was very professional, courteous and understanding of our needs. He went through all the options for our windows and door before placing the order. At no point in time did he try to persuade us into a window style that was more expensive or would not be a good fit in for our needs, after all we are getting on in age. As he put it at the time "I wouldn't suggest anything that I wouldn't put into my own home". When it came to our front door, he actually guided us to a door that was less expensive that what we saw from other companies. By the time he left our home, we felt like he was part of the family! Edna and I understand that he is a busy person, yet he took his time and spent nearly two hours at our home.

His wife Janet, I believe her name was, was terrific at keeping us abreast of when Michael would be at our home and when everything was to arrive at their warehouse. She helped schedule the installation based on our schedule (we may be old bitty's but we have a social calendar). Once everything was finished, Janet took the time to call us to make sure that everything is in order and that we are happy with everything.

Once everything arrived and the replacement appointment was scheduled, his crew arrived on time, were very professional, and after they were finished, it was as if they were never here except for the new windows and door. Titan's guys were very good at cleaning up after themselves after each window was replaced.

It is so nice to see that in this world there are great people like Janet and Michael. Sadly, we have been taken for a nasty ride by someone in our recent past with a small job we wanted done in our home.

We would recommend Titan to any one of our friends, family, and anybody that wants good old fashioned customer service by great people.

Bathroom Renovation

Titan Renovations and Michael were contracted again for a new project. we wanted to completely gut and renovate my our en-suite bathroom and master bedroom in our home. with amazing results!

From the outset, they were punctual and professional, providing excellent service and constantly updating us on the progress. We had decided to move in with family while the project was ongoing in order to give the crew undisputed access and work space as our home is a bungalow.

Our home was built in 1964, and a face lift was in dire need. Titan replaced the hardwood flooring throughout our bedroom, installed 12" x 24" porcelain tiles, new tub, rain shower system, new fixtures vanity and everything else.

When we returned home for the big reveal, we could not believe the amazing transformation! With impeccable attention to detail and precision, their work was amazing!

We selected Titan and Michael based on referrals, positive reviews and the fact that they are Baeumler Approved.

AWESOME WORK GUYS! We will gladly recommend them to anyone looking to get renovations done on their home.

Don't let them in your home!

Review of Titan Renovations – Whitby
Michael (owner)

DON’T LET HIM INTO YOUR HOME (He doesn’t take responsibility for anything)
To this date, 1 year later the job isn’t complete and MOST importantly, he owes us money.

Scope of project: kitchen, main floor hallway and powder room, an easy 6 - 8 week job according to Michael.

He didn’t supervise the job at all; he only came to the house a handful of times as we later found out.
There were so many occasions that his crew left the entire house unlocked at the end of the day, despite notes at each door and speaking to Michael.

There wasn’t any sort of cleanup done at the end of each day and our garage became a disgusting dumping ground, as well as the basement. Michael wouldn’t deal with it so his associate brought in 1 800 Got Junk to deal with the garage and the basement disaster they left.

In the first day of demo the amount of damage to areas NOT related to the reno due to carelessness was unacceptable. Michael came the next morning to see the damage and said, “don’t worry we’ll make it right”, I treat every client’s home as if it were my home”. This go to phrase became the theme of the entire project as not a week went by without a significant disaster. In fact, his team was so inept that the scope of the project grew, at his cost, because of the endless issues, which he blamed on us.
The work ethic and skill set of his tradesman, Frank, who was supposed a master tile setter among other skills was substandard:
Frank was A MASTER OF NOTHING AND DESTROYER OF EVERYTHING as he also did the drywall and painting. ALL the work he did, except the flooring, which still hasn’t been dealt with, was redone by outside trades because we refused to allow him back in the house.
• Poor tile cuts, therefor chipped tile that was then laid
• Variations in tile spacing and elevation
• Grout cracking within a couple of months due to incorrect mix of grout
• Extremely poor transitions at thresholds
• ½” wide grout where he didn’t cut small pieces to butt up to all door frames
• Crooked cut tiles and poorly installed aluminum strip at step up from vestibule to hall floor
• No planning of tile pattern resulting in many of the same tile laid side by side making for a strange looking floor
• Some of the wood strips don’t even reach the baseboard…cut too short.
• Poor drywall and painting skills, painting areas that weren’t in the scope of the project.
When we tried to discuss with Michael these issues the answer was always the same…you chose cheap product, so it is your fault. Not the case as verified by other independent professionals.
Frank cracked every kitchen ceiling drywall seam after painting, Mike wouldn’t address this for 5 days. We were upset and he told us we shouldn’t have lived in the house for the reno, I told him he would have hidden the ceiling issue. He didn’t answer that.
Tried to blame incorrect placement of pot light holes cut on us when we specifically indicated our needs at the outset. SOMEONE NICKED ALL THE POT LIGHT WIRES, HE WAS TOLD ABOUT IT AND NOTHING WAS DONE UNTIL
THE ELECTRICIAN REFUSED TO INSTALL THE LIGHTS BECAUSE OF THIS. If the electrician had done the installation despite the nicks, we never would have known and could have had a house fire. FRIGHTENING.
We had to delay the installation of the cabinetry several times.
This saga is several pages long, however, this is the gist of it. A disaster from beginning to end. Info has been forwarded to Brian Bauemler, as he has been Brian Bauemler approved. It turns out they have suspended him and are investigating.
