Marcson Homes

Between the 2 of us, my husband and I have built 4 homes, including the one with Marcson Homes. Overall, we do like our home, but the workmanship was extremely poor: some of our light fixtures in a couple bathrooms were installed upside-down, while others were correct; some of the light switches were installed upside-down and when I asked about getting them corrected, I was told they couldn't do it. That was just the way they are now. So my husband switched them to the way they are supposed to be. Our ceramic tile in 2 of our bathrooms and in our front entrance is very uneven. There are a few "dead spots" under carpeted areas. They were able to fix the one in our bonus room... as it turned out, the entire board of plywood was not even screwed down. For the other areas where the plywood needs to be screwed, they said they would have to cut up the carpet to do it so we would have seams everywhere. There are huge cracks in the concrete all the way across the length and width of our garage. When I asked about this, he said that it was done that way on purpose. But no other house that we have ever built has been like that?? They installed a window well that was so big (way bigger than what the window needed, as if they had the wrong size, but installed it anyway), we had to cut it back as there was maybe a foot of space between the window well and where the fence needed to go on the property line. My husband had to fix this as well. There is a ground spike in our basement that should have been built into the wall, but instead it is sticking up out of the ground about 6 inches away from the wall. When we develop the basement, we will have to pull that wall out further to hide the spike. You can see many of the drywall seams on our great room ceiling. In a couple places, there is white in the corners where painting was poorly done and it makes me wonder if there are areas where there is only one coat of paint. Our great room floor is very squeeky and "cannot be fixed". They forgot our deck nailer. All of this to say, if there had been more care in building our home, it would have been fantastic. But it seems like they were very careless and sloppy. Now to make these little fixes, it would be a huge headache. Based on the trouble we have had, we are concerned that we would just make things worse if we were to get some of these fixed (ie. dead spots in floors, drywall seams, tile, etc). The majority of communication with Marcson has been terrible as well. It would take repeated phone calls and emails, and weeks for them to get back to us and figure things out. Thankfully they do have a different site supervisor now and a different person in the office taking the calls. Hopefully these will alleviate future problems for future customers.

We have been living in our new house for a little over a year now. As first time home buyers, we were very nervous about the whole process, but the Marcson sales team really did a great job of putting us at ease. Marcson really seemed to value us as customers which really helped with our confidence in purchasing a new home. I've been impressed with all interactions with Marcson staff, from the site supervisor and the people involved with the small repairs to the warranty service and customer support. Any issues we had were dealt with very quickly and efficiently. As for our new house, we're really happy with it so far! The layout is great and the care put into the little details is very impressive. We found few issues within the one year warranty period, and any we did find were quite minor and were quickly remedied. Overall, we are very satisfied with Marcson homes and would certainly recommend them to friends!

We have been in our house for about a year now!! We love every bit of it! We have had minimal issues (other than the typical minor issues that come with a new build)! We have nothing bad to say - want to make sure Marcson knows how great their sales team is - we had the pleasure of working with Kim, Lisa and Brianne! They went above and beyond for us!! Thank you for building us our dream home!!

My family and I moved into our beautiful house 6 years ago. Still love it. Marcson Homes was a very good company to deal with. All deficiencies were addressed in good time frame. We didn't have any major issues like I heard from people who used different builders. I found a couple minor things while renovating my basement . Even though warranty was expired, Marcson Homes fixed them for me with no charge. I am very satisfied with Marcson Homes.

We just moved in to our new home in Sherwood Park and we love it! We hadn't heard of Marcson previously but we were impressed by the showhome and the great location. The sales staff has been great to deal with, and we did a thorough walk-through with the service staff. By the sounds of it, the few deficiencies (all fairly minor) should be cleared up promptly. The home is looking great and we couldn't be happier.

The only negative I can think of in the whole process is the concrete pad, which was poured smaller than agreed to. Not a big deal, but when we questioned it we were asked if the bosses signed off on the larger pad, which is probably a question for the sales staff who we agreed to the amendment with (we have no idea, we haven't met the bosses!). But this wasn't enough to knock the rating down from 10/10, because the service staff is looking into it and we're confident she will fix it for us.

Overall, everything seems to be top quality and Marcson seems to truly care about their customers, which is the most important thing. We are really happy with how smooth the process was and how everything turned out. We would absolutely recommend them as a builder!

All of my interactions with the Sales Consultant have been very positive and upbeat. She worked diligently to get me the best offers with Marcson Homes that were available to the customer at the time I made a deal with them. When I requested further upgrades, Marcson Homes were reasonable and accommodating. I can hardly wait to move into my brand new home backing onto a pond and walking trails in a few months. Marcson Homes all things considered did a great job building our families new home. We had an early disappointment as the lot we originally wanted ended up getting reserved for someone else, but we eventually settled on a different lot.

The actual construction part of our home we felt was handled well. They seem to have good crews and care about the home they build. We did a walk through of our house after it was all framed and we requested a wall to be boxed out of the house like our fireplace on the other side to accommodate a larger dining table we had purchased. They wouldn't move the wall and said we could have if it was requested at the start. Somehow it affected things at this point in construction with the city.

Other than that and just little things which were easily rectified we had a great experience! We are thinking of maybe doing this again as we have been eyeing up the beautiful lots with the view in Gradon Hill. If we build again it will definitely be Marcson.

This was not our first home, but it was our first build, and we were not sure what to expect. All in all, our experience went very well. We did have a small delay apparently with the City to give the builder the green light to start our home, but they made up that time, and we ended up being just over eleven months for our total time from signing to move in, which was around what we had expected.

The reason I didn't give a 10/10 score, was because of a disappointment we had with our hardwood selection. We had wanted the same hardwood as in the showhome, but it later became discontinued, and we had to make a different selection. We now really love the one we ended up with, and while we realize that things like this are sometimes out of their control, it was still something that we had to work around.

Our friends and family love our home, and after all is said and done, we are happy that we made the right choice!
