Carl and his team have been amazing to work with. When we needed a window resized for a main floor renovation along with much needed tuck pointing and chimney repair we reached out to Carl. I found him via his excellent reviews. It is such a pleasure to work with a true artisan. From our first meeting Carl walked us through the entire process, gave great suggestions and pointed out issues with our 100+ year old brick that needed tending to. The results are fantastic - better than we could imagine.

I have seen other houses where a lot of brick work doesn't match, the mortar doesn't match and it just looks terrible. Carl's work was fantastic!! Masonry is an artwork and Carl is a master. He and his team (shout out to Jim) matched the brick and mortar perfectly. They resized the window, tuckpointed the back of our house, installed brand new sills and rebuilt our chimney all to perfection. His team helped us with other aspects of our renovation beyond the scope of the job. He has been a great source of information and advice through the entire process. We couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Carl and his team did a thorough job of re-setting lintels and repointing and replacing exterior bricks in our hundred year-old house. The work was done about a year ago and has weathered well. I was impressed by the skill and professionalism of the team.

Our experience with Carl & Mace Masonry over a two week period of repair & rebuild work was overwhelmingly positive.

We have a 120 year old brick house that had multiple scopes of work including parapet wall replacement, two chimney rebuilds, tuckpointing and the repair of an internal structural brick pillar. Initially we were going to install 5 stone sills to address water damage, the final install looked so beautiful we expanded the scope to every window on our house. Now our house is in great shape both structurally and aesthetically.

What most impressed us about Carl & the Mace team was their demonstrated knowledge, skill & professionalism. Carl skillfully identified the root causes of the issues and helped us clearly understand the recommended solutions. Where other masons that quoted the work (5+) saw execution challenges due to height & narrow access, Carl was solution oriented to safely execute the work.

What impressed us the most was how clean our & our neighbouring properties were left after each day’s work. They even scheduled one final day to leave everything cleaner than when they arrived on the first day. Our neighbours raved and were very happy which is a highly positive outcome after a two week job.

Carl and Mace Masonry’s work is stellar! I first came across their work when I noticed an absolutely beautiful porch, steps, and retaining wall at a house a block over from where we live.

When we needed some brick and concrete work done on our century home shortly thereafter, we hesitated to contact Mace Masonry at first as our job was quite small. But Carl and team responded quickly and eagerly took it on, helping us to replace several bricks in our enclosed porch interior wall that the previous owner had just filled with styrofoam. They also did some tuck pointing and replaced the concrete threshold under the back door, all within a day. The team worked hard, carefully, and efficiently, and the end result was flawless.

And when we recently ran into an emergency situation with a hole going through both layers of our brick side wall, Carl again immediately came to the rescue and skillfully fixed the situation, all with a cheerful attitude to boot.

We won’t trust our brickwork to anyone else.

We live in a very old house with a old foundation. Once the old parge was removed, we realized the job was more complicated than we thought, but in the end it didn’t have that much of an impact on price. Overall we’re very happy with them and would definitely rely on them again for future brickwork or repair.

Bricks cracking and pointing required all around the house. Carl pointed out that they could fix the brick work but it will break again. This is because the sills were not to code and cause the issues in the first place. We hired Mace to replace the sills and fix the brickwork and closing our milk box.

Great work. Personable crew. They take responsibility for their work. All in all great people.

We contracted Carl and Mace Masonry to cut a new window, enlarge an existing window and fill in an existing window opening in our double brick home. Work included new sills and lintels.

I would not trust anyone to work on structural brick and Carl and the team from Mace did an exceptional job. The workmanship is excellent, it was very well done structurally and the brick matching is almost perfect.
