I did not have a good experience with On Side Restoration

On Side Restoration fixed our condo after a flood. But in my opinion, they did a poor quality job. I'm disappointed especially with the tile floors, kitchen back-splash, and tub surround. The tile contractor did not use tile-spacers, so grout lines are uneven, some tiles even touch each other directly with no grout between them. They also left residue on our new tile floors which I have been unable to get clean (grout cement on one tile, caulking on another). There are other elements I consider quality problems, but I'm not going to go through them all here.

In my opinion, the company did a poor job communicating with us. They never called me with updates, I had to be the one to call to inquire about status. They didn't do a quality check of their own, I'm the one who had to compile a list of deficiencies. When I delivered my deficiencies list, most were excused away. Being so tired of the whole experience, I have just given up, there are still deficiencies that were never fixed.

Three stars total. Two stars because they fixed our condo from its previous sewage condition to one that is livable. But the final product is of lower quality than what we had before the flood. How likely would I recommend this company: one star, just because there might be a zombie-apocalypse and there is no one else available (but I don't know, I think I would probably just do the work myself instead, and just bill the insurer for my time and materials).

Next time I will probably research and pick my own restoration company, instead of allowing my strata to pick one on my behalf.

Don't let strata pick On Side Rest. on your behalf, terrible company!

If I sound angry, it's because this experience has been one of nothing but frustration, disappointment, and a complete drain on our energy.

Stay far away. If your strata suggests using them for restoration, give them a firm "NO!", research online, and pick your own company.

I had the misfortune of dealing with them for condo restoration. They hired amateurs that did a poor job, probably charged the insurer top-dollar for the work anyway. They do not care about your timeline, quality of work, the value of your home, or the effects it will have on your well-being.

For example, the tile sub-contractor didn't think it was necessary to use tile spacers when doing the kitchen backslash or tub surrounds. The end result is that the grouting is uneven, some lines too thick others too thin, even some cases where tiles touch each other directly because there is no grouting between them at all! This is a basic step of laying tiles that you learn on Day-1, but somehow this untrained amateur got into our home to do the work.

That and a host of other rushed jobs and poorly executed work where clearly quality was not as important as the perception of being "done" so they could get the insurance payout. This company only has one motivation -- getting paid as much as possible, for doing as little work as possible.

I had to constantly call to get an update on status, push for deficiencies to be fixed, etc. Never once did they call me. In fact, we're right now at a point where they just stopped showing up, and the work was never finished, it has been weeks since the last time I saw them. How does it happen? Because once they get paid by insurer, they don't care.

On the topic of deficiencies, I made a list of all the issues with their shoddy work, and that resulted with the project manager coming to excuse away almost every single problem. He made up b.s. excuses for everything. At least the project managers are good at something, talking-down the poor quality work!

And the work took forever. It could have been done months earlier. But because of how poorly they schedule, communicate, or inspect the work, it will take much longer than any competent company.

When your most important investment is at risk, don't trust it to this company. Look for someone who will treat you with respect, won't waste your time, knows how to make a plan, and will keep you informed at every step of the way. You don't want to be away from your home for months, only to have to chase down your restoration company, and come back to find low-quality work and problems everywhere.
