Diagnosed the problem; outstanding follow up

Greensavers diagnosed moisture problems in the attic and planned out a method to remediate things. A year later, I thought there were still problems and contacted them. They came on site and were extremely helpful (and turns out it wasn’t a problem with their installation). Top marks for responsiveness and follow up. Many thanks!

delivery issue

Green Saver is good but their partner for delivery is terrible. Confirmed the delivery time frame for Saturday 8 AM -11 AM, didn't shown up, didn't call or email. I called the delivery team, they told that they don't have item. WHAT? You scheduled a delivery without having the items?? Such a terrible delivery partner company.

Winterization Energy Program

Although the process takes a while & requires some effort from the homeowner, it was a rewarding and helpful experience. Phil Harris, the energy advisor, was very professional & knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the whole process & answered all my questions. The technical team did a great job putting in the insulation and doing the air sealing. The office staff was friendly and efficient. I would recommend this program.

Enbridge Home energy Conservation

Greensaver people were pleasant to talk to. The energy auditor was scheduled quickly (both pre- and post upgrades) and made intelligent suggestions at the first audit. The finalized audit was provided promptly.
But I would never have replaced my functioning furnace without the program incentive. That incentive took 9 (!) months to get.
Energy upgrades complete Nov, 28/17.
Post-audit complete Dec 12/17. Report supplied about a week after that.
Mar. 20/18 - email inquiry as to where my rebate is. Advised it could be 4 months.
June 11/18 - 2nd inquiry, advised "Enbridge trying to expedite".
July 11/18 - 3rd inquiry, advised I should get rebate 2nd week of August.
Aug 18/18 - 4th inquiry, advised in a couple of days that they were submitting inquiry to Enbridge.
So I phoned Enbridge, was advised within 15 minutes that they had gotten my file June 18 and a cheque was produced August 20.
4 days later Greensaver told me the same thing. The cheque arrived the next week by mail.
SO IT TOOK GREENSAVER OVER 5 MONTHS TO GET MY FILE TO ENBRIDGE AND DURING THAT TIME THEY BLAMED ENBRIDGE AND MISREPRESENTED THE SITUATION AT ALL TIMES.
Need I say more.

Home Energy Conservation Program

Quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had as a home owner and customer in utilizing this company to do our pre and post renovation assessments for the Home Energy Conservation program.

Audits were done in September (pre-renos) and December (post-renos) last Fall by Greensaver. Was assured by the company that they were sending all the audits to Enbridge in late December. I realized once I spoke with Enbridge in March after awaiting the rebate that didn't come for a few months that no documents were sent, not even the initial audit that was done the previous September. After I spoke with Greensaver, they then finally sent my initial audit on March 22. More than three months after I was told they had done so. If I had not called Enbridge to check the status of our rebate, the initial audit may not ever have been sent at all.

I have called and emailed the company several times over past few months to figure out my rebate, and by now in mid-May, Enbridge still had not received the final audit that was completed in December. It's almost been half a year and I paid over $400 for these audits to be done up-front. The company is clearly disorganized and has not performed the service that I have paid them to do. I have had to call and follow up and email the company several times to get them to do their job. And even then, they are slow to respond and follow up.

I still do not know what the issue was with our file.

Enbridge has not received the final audit that we paid hundreds of dollars to be done six months ago.

The experience I have had in contacting their "Manager in Audits and Quality Assurance" has been sub-par. She is slow to answer calls, respond to emails, and has not kept her word on several occasions as to response times in following up with our inquiries.

I DO NOT recommend this company for the Home Energy Conservation program.

House pour foam insulation, fridge replacement, attic insulation

The services provided by Greensavers were house pour foam insulation (applied inside interior walls), fridge replacement, attic insulation (blown in), and caulking to stop drafts. There was no cost to us, all services were paid for by grants. The house was a mess afterwords as you would expect. We had to move or stow contents to allow access to walls, and we had to vacate for several hours per day when they were spraying the foam (to avoid fumes). Pets were kept secluded in the basement where they were not spraying. For 2 days there was a crew of 3 to 6 workers doing their thing, with protective plastic sheeting all over the place. Afterwards there was much plaster dust from drilling. It is months later, and we are still redecorating and paInting walls, which were left with rows of white plaster patches where the foam was applied beneath the drywall. We are grateful to Enbridge, Ontario Hydro, and the Ontario government for their support that made this grant possible.
The fridge was a basic model Fridgidaire. It was provided by a company with a warehouse in Oakville. The fridge came with a warrantee, which we took advantage of. The first 3 fridges had flaws in the form of obvious dents, or loose parts, or a poor seal when fridge doors were closed, which caused ice to form in the frost-free / ice-free freezer. Each time we called to send back a fridge, the same 2 movers came to happily take it back and gave us another one off the truck. The fourth fridge was the charm!

Uneasy feeling about them

I work at a shelter that joined a free energy program that approved the building for wall insulation under the Greensaver program.

The work is free and I really appreciate the help as the organisation does not have the budget for structural updates. I don't want to sound ungrateful as I myself have wished for a wonderful gift as this.

The girl Van really upset me. She emailed multiple times insisting that work be completed immediately during the Christmas holiday. She was curt and lacked sympathy for the group this shelter caters to. Her approach was borderline harassment and I was very close to reporting her. It was Christmas afterall so I asked her to stop and requested to speak with her manager Magdalena who was wonderful to work with.

Misleading

I called GreenSaver along with other service providers to specifically find one thing - the root cause of two of my "cold" bedrooms in the bungalow house. Talking to the GreenSaver "Tech Experts" they recommended to do an energy audit to find the root cause. Even though I had a feeling it's the duct running to those two rooms (main floor and basement room under) are problematic which causing less air flow to those vents. Somehow they convinced me to go for this audit to do things right way and not just fix the duct. Based on the audit's recommendation I did change the furnace and water heater tank (8k+) but still dealing with my two cold bedrooms!
Seemed to me they were interested to do the wall insulation…which was 2nd recommendation in their audit report. I don’t think even if they do that 3k job my airflow is going to improve. Unless I re-do/ modify the duck work. I wish they were upfront and accept they had no clue how to fix my issue.

Thank you for your feedback about your experience with our building diagnostics- full home energy assessment.
Our years of experience have shown us that when faced with specific comfort problems it is best to perform an assessment before deciding on the solution.
Typically when providing these solutions, the best approach is to first reduce your heat loss and then address any HVAC shortcomings. Using this method benefits a homeowner by first reducing energy consumption requirements and then allowing for more accurate design heat load calculations should any heating and/ or cooling upgrades be required.
Our technician performed a basic air flow analysis of the ductwork and found good air flow levels with a maximum variation of only 25%. Our recommendation to insulate the colder rooms was seen as the more effective solution for your home. Other insulation recommendations were intended to warm the cold basement rooms and separate the heat ducts from cold exterior surfaces.
Should you wish to provide further feedback or review your report with me personally, please do not hesitate to contact me at:

EnergySaver Audit

Greensaver was recommended to me by a colleague. However, my experience with this company was the worst I'd ever had with any company. The person doing the audit walked with a young helper and spent the entire time of the audit on her phone.
When I read her report, it was so badly written that I was aghast. Greensaver had no problem with the quality of the written report. When I arranged to have someone start to do the work, the fellow had not bothered to be aware of the nature of the job and thought he was coming to do roof insulation, ladder in tow. I complained about the level of service and all I got was more disrespect and rudeness. I ended up just about throwing him out of my house.
The other people Greensaver suggested I could deal with never returned phone calls.
The company was prepared to give me a credit for any contract but indeed I should have had an instant refund of some of my money. It was a total write-off for me and the worst experience I ever had with a company.
I'm glad to see that others have been having a better experience than mine, a few years ago. But alas, there also some other victims out there.

Disappointing ecoEnergy Audit experience

Last year, when the ecoEnergy audit program was reinstated I was skeptical of using GreenSaver but I thought I'd take a chance on a local company that had what appeared to be a professional call centre to book my appointments. My experience has been that this is a company that considers themselves truly blameless, faulting their own technicians, the government, and leaving me with little more than a government email address to pursue my refund after the program officially closed. My final assessments were not submitted to the NRC until 3 months after my audit and during this time Greensavers told me to just be patient, the government was processing my refund. Almost 4 months after my audit, and 3 1/2 months after it was an NRC requirement, Greensavers asked me to sign an attestation form. When I suggested that perhaps their role was to facilitate my claim a manager told me 'the government doesn't want to hear from us'. Hmm... wish they had been more forthcoming with this information before they took my money. As you can see from my other reviews on HomeStars I usually am quite generous when praise is due and I would urge ANYONE to be very cautious when dealing with this company.
