Home Inspection

I placed an order for home energy inspection on 4 Oct 2022. Tech came around on 5th OCT (I was impressed)
Technician did a great job of inspecting everything including air leaks in the house and informed me that I would receive the report of their recommendations in 7 to 10 business days, via email

I have left them numerous text messages, emails and phone messages to get the feed back report of their recommendations. There is absolute silence.

I am now thinking the company does NOT care and my $400 was a waste (without the report, I cannot make meaningful changes to the energy leaks)

Yours Frustrated,
Saif

Walls are destroyed

I was told that I needed wall insulation. When I asked what that comprised, I was told that small holes would be drilled at the top of the walls spaced apart. They would be patched and all I needed to do was paint. The small holes were drilled but holes the size of grapefruits were drilled half way down the wall. I was told that I would need to sand down and re-mud these holes several time to try to get them to a paintable state. They were several hours just in one room. When I saw the destruction, I asked them to not touch my kitchen as it would be unusable for weeks. The house is a disaster, even have wall debris in my shower. This has caused me an unacceptable amount of stress. I am now going to have to hire a professional to fix my walls. I 100% regret having this work done.

Inept

Government funded. Attic, got the insulation for free. Weather proofing, what a joke. They did one door but I had to ask for the bottom sweep to be replaced. Company was surprised they did that. Weather proofing is for all sides of the door, not just 3/4. Why not leave the window 1/3 open in the winter. I had to request for clean up, the area near the door was a mess. I learned 25 windows would be weather proofed. I only knew about the top 2 floors. No on told me the bottom floor was included, they didn't even look at them. My other door was not weather proofed since it was "steel" and they did not have the proper screws that would rust. They told me they only have tap con screws meant for wooden doors. REALLY! Tap con is for cement. I asked why they could not put the outside stripping like they did upstairs, humm and no go. The patio door was not touched, since the "inspector did not include it in his report." I do not write the report for the inspector. Rip off, inept. Retro fit means they should be able to problem solve. My opinion, in and out as quickly as they can and not solve any issues. Company told me to call my MPP. Greensaver sublets to inferior contractors. If I had to pay for this, there would have been a small claims action.

Greensaver HAP program is a joke

I've applied for this program in February, due to Covid I just got my inspection on July. The person (Home Energy Expert -HEE) who inspected my house said they will replace some appliances in my house and was very clear that my house didn't need any insulation job.
Last week, on July 24th I've received an email from greensaver's "HAP administration" in which they said the HEE determined my appliances are not eligible for replacement. However, they said that the insulation program was still in review. I wonder what do they have to review if the HEE mentioned there is no need for insolation in the house. On the other hand, he did mention some appliances were going to be replaced.
Sadly, I've signed a lot of papers and shared very important information with people I have no idea where they come from and even worst just follow a bunch inconsistencies.
Please, be aware of this people, they will promise everything and then just grab your information.
After reading some reviews in this website and other apparently I'm not the only one who has been in this "process" and had the exactly same history. be aware and don't waste your time or risk you safety by sharing such amount of information with these people.

Edited July 29th 2020

I've contacted support service and the only person in the company named Ben just make fun of me playing dumb. He never answered my questions and just hangup the call. Please AVOID this company, don't make any contact or business with them. I've learned the hard way that anything is free in this country. They will treat you really god when contacting them and them it will be a nightmare. Avoid them. There is only one person who apparently works there and is the worst person in the world, make fun of my accent and make fun of me by repeating the same question and never tried to solve the issues and concerns I had.

Enbridge Winterproofing

Update: September 3, 2020 (after 7 more months ! ) - I have increased the rating from one star to 8/10 ! Well today we got much closer to a Completion - almost 14 months later. Greensaver sent 2 guys, Shakheel and Ahmed, to do the touchups and areas missed for air sealing and insulating some floor joists. They showed up 3 hours early so I had to tell them to come back at the appointment time. But it was still good they came early as they first quickly reviewed the job and my expectations. Sure enough they were missing some fiberglass insulation. I repeat i do feel it is important to monitor the work they do so they understand what you are expecting. Don't just expect these people to 'know what to do ' having never been in your old house. Ahmed was prone to cutting corners , claiming he could not reach certain areas. I had to push him to get a ladder from his truck. But Shakheel was very gracious (and taller) and would cover the areas, with insulation and air sealing, that Ahmed had missed. While there were one or two very hard to reach areas, I feel as professionals they should use their skills and ingenuity to ALSO reach hard to reach corners which sometimes have huge cracks and air leaks. Professionals are not supposed to be 'dainty flowers' and make excuses right ? ! At one point , Ahmed had put up almost all the insulation while i was not looking without crack sealing with silicon or foam at all despite my spending a half hour and showing many examples of how i did it and how Gary (the expert) told me it needs to be done. Luckily Shakheel came to the rescue and redid Ahmed's work or I would not have been satisfied enough to raise the rating from a one to a four out of five.
I still had some confusion about what they are willing to do with the knee attic. Again , they don't look for difficult and complicated jobs . You really have to dig around. I am still negotiating with them as to whether they would foam seal some areas in the knee attic to upgrade it either from close to zero or R10 to R20 or better . Again they are saying some areas are 'hard to reach ' . But is not that what professionals do ? I did one area myself last October because of the confusion . As the old insulation was totally gone and the vapour barrier removed in the old house. On the whole , I learned so much from them, slowly but surely, in the overall feedback and interactive process that i am still going to give them a good rating even despite one or two minor shortcomings in the work today. I understand things now i never knew anything about when it comes to insulating a home, thanks to the WHOLE team i.e Rod, Gary , Portia , Shakheel etc.

ORIGINAL REVEW (January 2020) - The work and experience started off OK but then when you require followup or have simple questions about the work it is a total nightmare. Your emails and phone calls are ignored and I find myself 'left hanging' on projects that started 8 months ago. At Greensaver nobody is in charge and nobody really cares. In my case, I signed up for attic insulation and air sealing. They did one part of the attic but not the other. I repeatedly asked them why as both areas are connected ? After 7 months, I never got an answer. I had to do it myself ($200 out of pocket expense), because winter was approaching, at considerable time and expense even though they bill Enbridge Gas and the Province of Ontario , and the federal government $2000 - $3000. The same goes for the air sealing. They did about 40% or 50% of the job and then disappeared.

Green Saver rubbish act.

Have Green Saver come out for a 4 hour apt. to check over my air conditioners, frig and also take a look at my insulation requirement in my attic.

I was told that 2 of my air conditioners were old and should perhaps be replaced, and my frig also was old and needing to be replaced also. This program allows for replacement supposedly.

He went into my attic, and told me that I had asbestos insulation and this wasn't good. He then told me that I had just enough and they wouldn't look at putting any insulation into my attic even though I had a huge ice damn front and back of my house. Later I found out he was incorrect. My attic has old rock wool insulation, not unsafe, but not good for insulation.

Total waste of my a.m. I get a letter saying no to replacing the appliances, and a different story. I was upset and they said the man didn't know what he was saying when he came out. Totally unprofessional and gave me a scare regarding my insulation.

These guys are out for a pay cheque and not legit at all. Total waste of my time. I have an old frig, and 2 old airconditioner's and no help from this agency. I am not impressed. They also had me sign a bunch of forms and never told me why? Very scary.
