It is with great regret that I write this review. My husband has been using Amour Mechanical for years and there service has been great.
We moved to our new home the end of June and we wanted to install another washer and dryer. Naturally we wanted to continue to use the company we had trusted for years. Owen came to install our new washer and Dryer. A few days later, I was downstairs and noticed the wall, floor and ceiling were wet. There was obviously a leak it was coming from the room where the washer and dryer were installed. We called Will and he sent Owen back out to have a look. Owen came and investigated, he determined that he had not secured a (crimp and not tested it with hot water) He said we needed to talk to Will.
My Husband called Will, to call him and Will promptly did. It was decided that we needed a water remediation company. Will sent someone out and they came almost immediately. I assumed he was from his insurance company. The man who came was rude and off putting... defensive. He looked and to water damage and completed readings. He did bring in dryers and dehumidifiers. However, the dehumidifiers leaked all over the floor both of them, up and down. Not a good start. (We have pictures). Then the gentleman who came starting talking about how they would dry the floor and cut the walls about two feet. He said there was no water in the baulk head (there was, again we have pictures). I was concerned about them just drying the floor it was soaked and the floor is glued vinyl plank. He was not interesting in removing it. I told him I was not comfortable with that. He looked and me and said " what do you want"? I told him I was concerned about mold growing under the floor if not removed and dried. He told me mold will not grow on cement. I knew this was not true. I was concerned about his ability to remediate the damage of our home correctly. I understand he was there on Will's behalf and has his interests at heart.
I called my insurance company and was told it was in my best interest to have my insurance company subjugate the claim so it was done right and I had our best interest looked after. My insurance company came out and completed the water readings and see what remediation needed to be done. He did find water in the baulk head and he did say the floor had to be taken up to dry it.
I contacted Will to share with him what our insurance company had said and we wanted to go with our insurance. Will got defensive and sent a text saying who he was going with and do not have our insurance company contact him. Will had shared with me during a call that this is the second incident they had within a short period of time. I understand Wills frustration. Will was in our opinion concerned about the cost of going through his insurance. At this point given the tone and initial conversations. I though it best to go with our insurance.
It is important to make clear we were not angry we just wanted our new home restored and restored correctly. Water is not something you mess with. Mistakes happen and yes it sucks. This is why business have insurance.
The end of the day I was informed by my insurance company that Amour Mechanicals insurance is not and will not pay the cost full cost to repair my home as it was. They are only paying part of the claim. These means that I get penalized by losing my claims forgiveness I had. This was not our fault in any way. We hired a licensed and insured company to install our washer and dryer. This did us no good as the companies insurance is not paying to make us whole. The companies insurance will only pay for a patch work repair.
We are sad that this long standing relationship as been damaged. All we wanted is our home to be restored to the exact condition it was and not be penalized for an error that was not ours.
From what I understand when a company subjugates a claim for you the other parties insurance in most instances does not pay the full claim. I have learned much through this experience. I wish we were not penalized for a mistake that was not our fault. I want to be clear that we are being compensated by our insurance company but at a cost and loss to us. It would have been nice if Amours insurance would have paid the full cost to our insurance but this appears not to be the case. Please beware. We understand mistakes happen but if they do the company or their insurance should pay to repair it.
