Kitchen Renovation

Where to begin... First off this "Company" consists of ONE man who then hires helpers off of Kijiji on days that he needs the help. He is an absolute con artist. Very personable and comes across as a dedicated hard worker in the beginning. We signed on with Canruss March 11,2014 and were told our project would be completed in 45 days. Ha! The next day demo started and went great! He had a very motivated helper with him and they demolished the whole existing kitchen to the studs. After that day I don't know what happened to the person we had signed on with. We never knew when he would show up or not and anytime we gave him his next payment we wouldn't see him for 2 WEEKS! Long story short, our kitchen is STILL not complete and today's date is July 21,2014. Canruss is no longer employed by us as we finally came to our senses and fired him June 3rd. He pocketed money from us on Numerous occasions telling us he ordered island cabinets but never did and kept the money, said he payed trades and never did and kept the money for himself, which we are now having to pay them, ordered the completely wrong cabinets (I wanted white, I now have cream), as well as we had to pay to have our tile flooring ripped up and COMPLETELY REDONE as he had NO CLUE what he was doing! We also had to pay to have our plumbing redone as that was all done wrong as well. It was a Friday and he put our sink in. There was a leak and he said to put a bowl under it and he would fix it Monday as he wanted to leave to head to Calgary where he lives and didn't want to get stuck in traffic.... This experience was an absolute Nightmare :( He brought so much stress and sadness into our lives he was like poison. We were so excited to finally have our dream kitchen when we were interviewing contractors and signed on with Canruss, but now every time I look into that direction my heart sinks as it has cost us Thousands more then it should have since we had to pay to have everything he touched fixed! And we still don't even have our dream kitchen at the end of it all. Please for the sack of your sanity and pocket books DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!

Basement Development

Canruss Construction just finished our basement. From start to finish dealing with Canruss was very easy and professional. Our site supervisor John, constantly kept us up-to-date with everything that was happening and what to expect as well as ensuring the quality of work that was performed. The whole process was very painless and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. I would highly recommend Canruss to anyone looking to do any home renovations.

Basement reno

We hired canruss construction at the beginning of October to finish our basement by Dec 2nd, according to the contract we signed. Canruss was eager to start, willing to negotiate the contract and payment schedule and made quick work of framing during the first week. There were some minor issues with how the bedroom was framed but the contractor was willing to change it. The next step in the payment schedule was to finish rough ins for electrical and plumbing which was 25% of the cost. We paid this a little to quickly as we found out the permits had not been obtained. This is when the project started going down hill. It took the contractor weeks to fill out the paper work. When the inspectors did come to view the work, electrical did pass (needed some fixing) but it took 3 times to pass plumbing. To pass the inspection, the tub had to be installed. We had a scope of work document outlining the brands of items for purchase. He bought the wrong/cheaper tub, which ended up sitting in our basement for almost a month. I was unable to get a hold of the contractor to find out when it was going to be exchanged for the right tub, then he finally emailed me and said he was on vacation. Long story short, we had to fire the contractor on Feb 13, nearly 4 and half months after start date and 2 and a half months after the agreed completion date. We only got as far as hanging the drywall up to the point when we fired him. It was very difficult to communicate with the contractor as he did not respond to texts, calls and emails in a timely manner. He was consistently late or would not show up at all and made attempt to contact me, I had to contact him. He also made no apologies for the massive delays we experienced. If you are considering hiring this company, please contact me for more information.
