Window Replacement

Since my original review, Ihor and Joe from Weather Pro Windows and Doors have been in touch with me. They apologized for the missed communication, and visited my home to inspect the installation.
Due to what has been attributed to a language barrier, the incorrect window did get ordered, and upon inspection Weather Pro agrees that an insufficient amount of sealing was done during the original installation. The window supplied however allowed for minimum impact to interior finishing (tiling), and matched the exterior look of the other existing windows on our home.
For my primary concern, being prevention of water infiltration, Weather Pro will be replacing the sealant and ensuring it will be correctly applied in order to penetrate as deep between the window and stucco as possible. They advise that from both the sealant, and the spray foam insulation as backup, no moisture will penetrate the interior. Weather Pro is confident enough that they are providing me with a 15 year warranty covering the cost of any damage due to water infiltration to easy my concerns.

Window Replacement

I hired this company to do a single window on our stucco clad home. Before hand, I approached a few different window companies with good reviews here, and discussed the installation method with each of them. Most of them, including Weather Pro Windows & Doors, indicated that the stucco would need to be cut back and a window with a brick mold would need to be installed in order to seal it properly. Weather Pro provided me with a quote for this, and indicated the window would be supplied with a 2” brick mold. My research on replacement window replacement on stucco homes concluded this was the correct method, so based on that I hired this company (Note: they were not the cheapest).

A few months later, they arranged to do the install. They removed my old window, but made no additional cut to the stucco, then installed a new window which did not have a brick mold. To seal it from the outside, they applied caulking between the edge of the window and the stucco, a very poorly applied one at that with very visible gaps where there is no caulking at all.

I contacted the individual who provided the quote to discuss my concerns regarding the installation and the lack of a brick mold. He did not return my calls. I called the office as well, after a few tries I finally received a call back from a supervisor. This individual talked down to me and argued the installation method they used. When I asked him what would prevent water from getting into the wall, he suggested that the spray foam insulation would do so.. (Interesting). At the end of the conversation he agreed to send out someone to inspect the installation, and would get back to me regarding scheduling. That also did not happen.

So in Summary;

• They did not supply the correct product originally agreed upon, documented on the quote I received from them.
• The installation was poorly done.
• They did not return my phone calls or arrange someone to inspect the installation.

I’m afraid now I’ll have to end up replacing the window much sooner than expected with a properly installed product. It’s obvious to me that water will slowly infiltrate between the window and stucco since there is no longer a nailing fin, nor any flashing to prevent water from getting in. And no, spray foam insulation will not provide an adequate moisture barrier to prevent this. It’s a shame, because I do think the quality of the windows they supply are great.

To look at this positively, I’m glad I only did one single window with them. I will not be doing business with this company again.

Also worth mentioning here, this company handed me a sheet at the end of the job asking permission for them to post a review of their company on my behalf. So I wouldn’t trust all the positive reviews you see here.
