Doktor Handyman

We hired KC and the Doktor Handyman team initially for 3 projects: replacing a shower insert with subway tiles, insulating a wall in the basement bedroom and venting out for our dryer and washroom exhaust. KC is very good a communicating and managing expectations. He does try to help you save cost by recommending alternatives. He also finished all the jobs in the quoted amount of time (except for the shower which the glass subcontractor caused the delay). His costs are reasonable upon comparison to other quotes I got. His guys Moe and Sam were very professional, communicative, and always cleaned up after each day.

Overall they did a good job, the shower turnout beautiful and the general workmanship was good. There were minor details that I wanted corrected such as a adding a second coat of paint and strapping the ducting tighter that was done immediately upon request. There was a miscommunication where the shower base installed was not suited for the glass enclosure we wanted, they replaced the base without any hassle.

We also hired Doktor Handyman when my mom’s basement bathroom had a leak. It turned out to be a much larger job than anticipated as the leak had been present for a long time but our tenant never told us. We ended up re-doing the entire bathroom including changing the bathtub, toilet, vanity, and redoing the floor tiles. Instead of re-framing due to the rot to the wood frames, KC recommended partially change the bottom of the frames to minimize the cost. Again, the workmanship was good, communication excellent, and the job was done on time. We also had the option to pick out our own materials (tiles, tub, toilet etc) to better manage costs.

I had a very positive experience. KC and his guys were able to quickly identify the issues I had with my basement. I had some terrible mould problems, but now I don't have any. I also hired them to do some cosmetic work and painting in the basement and they did a great job. The price was reasonable, and the team was efficient and kept me updated every step of the way. I will definitely hire them again.

I had a number of odds and ends that needed attention including a small drywall repair, moving a lamp, loose cabinet hinges, adjusting kitchen shelves and so on. From my initial contact to the final bill for the work, everything was highly professional. KC picked up his phone and booked an appointment for me. His technician, Sam came on time even though it had snowed quite a bit the night before. Sam completed the projects quickly and perfectly. I found the cost of the services to be in the "middle of the pack" and very reasonable. I would recommend this service without reservation.

Numerous issues with the work performed by this contractor have come to light since this review was posted. I will post a new review, but would prefer to wait until all these issues are dealt with, so as to have a compete story.

I met with KC, got a quote quickly, and he was able to send a couple of his guys over within a week and half to do the work. His guys did a great job on shower stall repair (tiling and sealing), bathroom wall repair and painting, and additional caulking that was needed. Everything was done within two days and to the specifications agreed upon (one task was forgotten, but KC responded quickly to my text and his guys came back for 20 minutes the next day to complete, no hassle). I am quite pleased with the work, and it was $1000 less than the other contractor quote I received!

I'd highly recommend Doktor Handyman services. Casey and Sam were simply spectacular, they repaired an undermount sink that was falling. Also their post service response was fantastic when I had a little bit of likage. C

I wrote a negative review of this company here after a job is very unsatisfied with and KC called me within hours to fix everything. I think most of the problems are related to the tech he sent to do the job. I'll edit the review further once the job is complete.

I contacted Doktor Handyman based on the reviews and he and his crew lived up to the recommendations. I had a kitchen island, with a granite top, I needed disassembled. It turned out to be a tougher job than anticipated and luckily KC showed up with two other people vs the one he was originally going to send because the job took all three to complete. Each person was incredible polite, courteous, and very considerate of my home. Once the island was disassembled they helped me to take the granite top to my locker and then set up my dining room table and chairs. I would definitely recommend KC for any handyman services you may require.

Doktor Handyman did a really great job on installing the hardwood flooring in our son's bedroom and hallway. They also did some painting for us and general handyman services. I get the feeling they can do anything and - most importantly - they're amazing! They're professional, hard-working and reliable - and I'd hire them again in a heartbeat! Our shower tiling was lifting and cracking which caused water to leak down through our dining room ceiling. KC responded very promptly to our call for help and upon initial inspection was able to readily identify that the installation of the shower had not been completed properly. Upon learning that we are a family with a young child he promised to help us right away even though he was very busy with other jobs. We received his quote for services later that day and arranged to have a crew start as soon as possible. KC and his team replaced the problem tiles (finding a beautiful complimentary tile to go with the originals that were no longer available) and rebuilt the shower frame after testing to confirm the source of the leak. They repaired the ceiling damage in the dining room and also repaired another ceiling area on the second floor. Our under-mounted kitchen sink had also detached and they were able to fix this issue as well, all in less time than originally estimated and on budget. We would hire them again in an instant.
