Disappointed with the Service

Based on online reviews and calls to Guelph Climate Care, I felt very comfortable hiring them to repair a leaking furnace exhaust. It required one small plastic flange, a rubber coupling, three clamps, one foot of exhaust pipe, and some glue. The repair took less than fifteen minutes. The bill was $325.00 + tax. The flange and other parts came in a kit. The installer replaced the flange and one of the three clamps but not the coupling and the other clamps. He remarked that the old parts were still good and reused them. He kept the new coupling, together with all the remaining new parts in the kit and charged me for all of them.

After several calls to Guelph Climate Care to inquire why I was charged for the entire kit, I was told that the parts had to be kept by the installer for safety reasons. My position is that since I was billed for all the parts in the kit, they belong to me. The installer should not arbitrarily choose not to install parts, keep them, and then charge me for them.

Furthermore, the manufacturers specifications called for the use of a torque wrench to ensure that the three gear clamps were not over-tightened or under-tightened to prevent damage to components, which could result in carbon monoxide leaks. A torque wrench was not used for the repair.

Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. A tester was not used to check for leaks around the installed parts. The installer claimed that his tester was out of battery.

For this repair, from this company, I was expecting a high level of professionalism. I thought Guelph Climate Care would be a company I could depend on in the future for reliable service.  I was disappointed. The high standards I was expecting for this repair were simply not there and I cannot recommend this company. I will not use them again nor recommend them to friends and family.

Zero stars is my rating.

New Furnace

We recently had a new furnace installed. The guys who installed it were very professional and respectful of our home. Other than the new furnace installed you’d never know anybody did any work as they cleaned up everything before they left. We couldn’t be any happier! Thank you for a job well done!

Air conditioner service

I had excellent service provided today for our air conditioner by the technician. He gave clear and helpful explanations on the issues and what options there were resolve them. I was able to ask him questions and get good information on what changes were being made. He did a thorough job checking that the changes were effective and gave me some other tips on maintenance. Overall, very good and professional service.

The service to book the appointment was also very helpful and easy. I would plan to get their service again.

Furnace Service

I called after hours when our furnace wasn't working. The on call guy (Jeff) answered right away. Quoted me $135ish for an after hours service call which seemed fair to low to me but he insisted on walking me through the problem since I told him I'm not that knowledgeable but not completely out-to-lunch either. He was familiar with my Luxaire (York apparently) furnace and after about 10 min we concluded it was my Nest thermostat that was the problem. Saved me $135 (plus tax) and my little ones never noticed the drop in temp at all - thanks Jeff!

Furnace, A/C and water heater

Our furnace and A/C were 30 years old, and starting to give trouble. We took the opportunity to get rid of our water heater rental as well, and move the gas line for our gas fired clothes dryer to a better location.

The sales/consultation visit was good -- helpful information, without much sales pressure. We looked over the options, and emailed our decisions back to the sales rep, and set up a date.

We did some comparison pricing, and they were competitive.

On installation day, 3 technicians showed up. They were busy right till 5:00, but got everything done... except for the dryer relocation. A little communication blip there. They came back on another day to finish that job.

That relocation job was more than I expected, because being a gas appliance, they could not just relocate the gas, they had to make sure that the venting was working before signing off on it. I did not realise that was the case, I thought I could do the venting later myself. But they did a great job, and stuck to their original price, which is much appreciated.

They also handled the returning of the rental water tank, we just had to call our supplier and get a return number for it. That was a nice touch... removing all of the old stuff, be it scrap (furnace) or return to renter (water heater).

I had one follow up visit - a question about the humidifier, where a technician dropped by for 10 minutes to inspect it, and explain why and how it was doing what it did. Gave me reassurance that it was working fine.

There will be another visit in the spring when we fire up the A/C for the first time.

Overall, I am pleased with the way that they treat their customers, before, during and after installation. I would recommend them to anyone having HVAC work done.

Furnace and air conditioner

Old lennox furnace broke down during cold spell at the weekend. called serveral companies around Guelph, but was realy drawn to the honest and friendly voice on the phone. service rep arrived a couple of hours later, ( weekend call out) attempted to fix the furnace, eventulally said it would require specific lennox parts ( which on line were expensive especially as the machine was 20 years old and hard to find ) service rep said he would drive back to guelph on his own time and get heaters for the remainder of the weekend. we wanted some time to decide what to do. We said not to worry. nice gesture. Called and arranged to meet with Flora and decided on meeting her that we wanted to buy a new furnace and have it inatalled with them. 10 years parts and labour.. energy rated system, 96 % I had also called several other companies that day but didnt get the same customer service. some were a little cheaper, and others pushy, " Ill be over in 30 minutes' ! to give you a price, where are you, I want to come now.. " !! one company said. Also decided that we would have air con installed too. so upgraded for energy rated system and got a great package. Financing was approaved which made it easy with our tight budget to afford such an important item.
installation crew arrived the following day and were really helpful. and honestly nice guys.. got to work and installed new furnace and gave us heat. went over and beyond what they were required to do by reducting componants from previous installation, and fixing the humidifier attached to the old system. installing the Air conditioner, making sure it was all to our liking.

3 weeks later, will finally sign paperwork and organise for the energy rebate from the government.
We as a family felt that the most important part to this was AIR-Wave wanted us to get our heat in place and not to worry about the other issues. They called to follow up sevreral times to ensure there was nothing else they could do. and that our family was safe and warm in our home. I really would recommend this company to anyone, and already have.
thanks
Will

AC Maintenance and Hard Start Kit installation

When the warmer weather hit and my place started heating up, I noticed that my Lennox AC unit had stopped working. I emailed Air Wave and they made an appointment within 2 days to have a service technician out to look at it. He arrived on-time, was polite and knowledgeable and was able to fix the issue with the installation of a hard start kit. The price was very reasonable for the work performed. My condo unit has its ac units on the roof and he climbed up to perform the work without issue.

I will be sure to use them again in the future.
