Knock On Wood Flooring No Longer In Business

Knock On Wood came to me with a can do spirit and a great deal of expertise. He performed everything I wanted him to do and more. Plus the prices were very competitive with the other companies I looked at. Jose came in and painstakingly transitioned old hardwood into a new 45 degree tile transition. In the end the entire project looked seamless, you would never have known half the floor was 40 years old and the other half brand new. Knock On Wood was professional and very easy to work with, I would recommend them to anyone.

Jose was fast, efficient and very knowledgeable in installing our hardwood floors. Jose new his wood types and was helpful in deciding what product we should use for our "household" and where to look for good quality wood and pricing. Excellent pattern laying. Clean and tidy! Work done on schedule. Very helpful with furniture pad recommendations as well as floor cleaning ideas. All around great experience. Would recommend Jose for any of your flooring needs.

Jose is professional, knowledgeable and skilled at what he does . What sets him apart is that he has a high set of standards which he does his work at and he completes them even if it is at his own cost. For instance he wasn't satisfied with the three coats of finish which he quoted so he put on a fourth at his own cost. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Jose for hardwood refinishing.

Took time to help at the wood store, kept the area clean, and most of all he portrayed that he wanted me to be satisfied with his work, to me he is not interested in money but making his customers happy.

I recently purchased a house and decided to install hardwood throughout the main floor. Jose came in to perform a measurement and gave me a very competitive quote. He helped me select my wood from Timbertown and even hooked me up with a discount! His measurement was spot on as I was only left with half a box after the install was complete (no extra boxes = no wasted money).

Jose removed baseboards, detached appliances, made his own transitions, and custom stained our stair nosings and flush mount vents to match the wood color we selected.

Most importantly, Jose kept me in the loop every step of the way! I was provided with daily updates throughout the entire installation process and was immediately contacted whenever an issue arose (trust me, they happen). Timely communication was key as it meant that I was in complete control over time, cost, and quality every step of the way.

Here's a summary of the issues that we overcame under my direction:

1. The flush mount vents we purchased were thicker than our wood. This would cause them to stick out like a sore thumb. Jose took the vents to a mill to grind down to match the thickness of our wood.
2. The contractor that removed the tile in the kitchen left too much subfloor around the kitchen cabinets. Jose grinded down the subfloor enough to run the wood smoothly under the cabinets by 1/2 inch.
3. The floor in the den was not level due to the house shifting / settling. This caused a noticeable hump in the middle of the room. Jose grinded the floor down to eliminate the hump.

Bottom line is that my main floor looks amazing and I owe it all to Jose. I got a top notch wood and install at almost half the price that a local flooring design centre quoted me. Do not hesitate to contact this company to do your hardwood floors. You won't regret it!
