Painting, dry-walling, electrical work

I've amended my review upon speaking to Michael at THIG.

To make a long story short, I was unhappy with the fact that my very simple project was taking weeks to complete, and had to include a repair to work that was done poorly. I have a young son and it was difficult navigating my home during the renovations, and having to stay out in the community with him all day, only to find that the work wasn't completed, or that no one had shown up to work in the first place. My home was damaged by the contractors during the project, and I was fed up with waiting for THIG to make amends.

I've since spoken to the owner's husband Michael, who was very respectful and understanding, and he has promised to settle this situation fairly, which I appreciate. I don't know that I'd recommend THIG to anyone at this point, as I'm still a little sore from the experience. I hope the company learns from this situation and does better next time, and I hope that, should you choose to hire THIG for your own home renovation project, your experience is better than mine was.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

To be brief: overpriced, shoddy work and poor scheduling (so your project takes WEEKS longer than it should).

1. There were days where no one would show up to work. I'd come home and discover absolutely no work had been done, email the project manager to ask what happened, and be given no reason for the delay, just a limp answer along the lines of "Sorry, they'll be there tomorrow."

2. I asked the second project manager to bring paint samples and railing samples prior to the job starting. He showed up to my place without the paint or railing samples.

3. The electrician left bits and pieces of wire on my counters after installing GFI outlets. I told the project manager to speak to him so that it wouldn't happen again. He did the same thing when he came back to finish the job - this time leaving the wire on top of my dryer.

4. THIG hired a third party contractor to patch the dings in my walls before painting them. The contractor patched the walls all right, but didn't sand them down before painting them so we ended up with lumpy walls. It took THIG THREE WEEKS to finally fix the walls they messed up. I had to explain the situation with the walls to six different people, including three project managers. I wanted to hire a company with a project manager so that I wouldn't have to keep explaining myself to different contractors. So much for that.

5. THIG sent a painter to re-paint the walls they messed up when they knew very well those walls had to be patched and sanded again first. That contractor didn't end up working on the job, so I had a TOTAL STRANGER in my home for no reason at all. And that contractor thought it would be okay to use my personal number to text me and ask if she could come to my place on a holiday to start work. Apparently THIG hires contractors who feel they can contact you whenever they like. Remember the painter who did the crummy job on my walls in the first place? He called me too, to demand why I wasn't satisfied with his job.

6. THIG asked for $594 to label my electrical panel. Their electrician labeled it by writing on my wall in permanent marker.

7. The second project manager damaged a tile in my kitchen and expected me to just let it slide. The third project manager said I'd be given a credit if they couldn't find a replacement tile. No such credit was offered on the last invoice they sent me.

I've been offered no compensation for the damage to my tile, the ridiculous excuse for labeling my electrical panel, my wasted time, or my aggravation. In fact, THIG wants to charge me for materials associated with fixing their shoddy work on my walls. Message me if you'd like to see the pictures I have of what they consider a job well done.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.
