Cando Renovations

We hired Bert and his team to complete a bathroom renovation in our first home (a 1987 home in which the main upstairs bath had not been touched since it was built). As brand new first-time homeowners, we were nervous about investing in such a substantial renovation. However, Cando had been recommended to us by a family member who had used them for many projects and we had seen the quality of their work firsthand and felt comfortable.

Bert and I spoke about my vision for the bathroom and he quoted a very fair price on the job and allowed me to choose the materials & products that I wanted (and even provided suggestions that would help me save on both materials and labour). His team was extremely friendly, professional, and tidy while they were in my home.

When demolition revealed problems inside the walls that we were unaware of, he took photos of the issue, thoroughly explained what needed to be done and kept additional costs as minimal as possible. Being on a very tight budget, we really appreciated his extra consideration on this matter.

They also left our home very clean when they finished the work--a minor detail to some but in my opinion, says a lot about professionalism.

The renovation was completed on time, within our tight budget, and was very well done right down to the details. About a month later, every time I walk into our new bathroom I am SO happy--you know "that" feeling.

We hired Bert to remove a load bearing wall earlier this month and we are very happy with our choice and would recommend him without reservations.
Bert was professional, knowledgeable, punctual and thorough, the job was completed ahead of schedule and passing the inspection was a breeze.

We are 100% satisfied with the work Bert and his team did on our bathroom renovation and various other repairs they were more than happy to tackle at the same time. We brought Bert in for a quote on our bathroom replacement after he did some great work for a couple of our neighbours. We were immediately impressed with with Bert's knowledge, confidence and pricing, and with Bert and Ron's incredible work ethic on the job. When surprises popped up, as usually happens in our old house, Bert did a great job in informing us and proposing a professional solution at a reasonable cost, approaching everything with the attitude "what would I do in my own house." We were so pleased that we tacked on several other projects including window replacement and re-plumbing some basement drains to quickly fix problems that we've been living with for years. We'll definitely be calling Cando Renovations for our next project.

We decided to convert our multi-unit home back to a single family dwelling. Rather than remove washrooms and re-add the internal staircase, we decided to add an addition to the back of the house, including extending the basement out as well. Bert was referred to us from a neighbour who's had multiple projects with Cando as well as their family and friends. His quote was detailed and inline with other contractors but he was the one that left us most comfortable that the work would be done on time, within budget and leaving us happy.

Bert and his team were excellent from day one. They showed up on time every morning ready to work. They were respectful of our house and neighbors and left things in a very tidy manner. Their craftsmanship was excellent including the custom built-ins and new fireplace. You can tell he's been in the business as he knows exactly when his subs are needed and they always showed up the next day. Everyone was extremely respectful to us and our kids. He was able to handle all interactions with the inspector sand anticipated anything they would ask/question and would address it with us before any decisions were made.

Bert was able to adapt to any last minute changes we had and was able to add the many 'mini-projects' we came up while they were on site including replacing old windows and doors, and installing pot lights in other parts of the house. Bert was also able to come back and help out with some water issues we found in another part of the house (not related to this project).

Overall, we would highly recommend Bert and Cando Renovations.

Bert and his team just completed 2 bathroom renovations for us. He did our kitchen renovation in 2008 and we were happy to have him back. Bert starts and completes the job on time and within budget. They show up on time every day, and do quality work. Bert aims to please. Very pleasant to deal with.

Burt and his team did an amazing job renovating our house. Over the past few years, Burt has renovated almost the entire house, including the rear patio. Our new kitchen is absolutely phenomenal and, quite honestly, a work of art. The work was always done on time, and within budget. Bert and his crew did an excellent job in removing the load bearing wall between our kitchen and family room.

After having two other contractors in to quote and spec the job, Bert came in to provide a quote within a day of calling him after he was the only person on Homestars I could find with load bearin wall removal experience (more than 1 at least). His "can-do" attitude along with confirming a permit would be required for him to complete work inspired the utmost confidence - a necessity when removing a structural wall in your house!

We had to wait a month or so before he was able to complete the work due to other project he had ongoing, but we did not mind when we knew we had Bert to do this specialized work.

Over the course of 3 mornings Bert completed the work to our utmost satisfaction - we're now looking forward to having our island installed and painting. His crew were always on time, polite, and did an amazing job at keeping an extremely messy job as clean as possible.

Finally, Bert was true to his word on pricing and the amount he told me upfront was the amount I paid for the entire job. Others who quoted the job were less qualified and higher priced. Needless to say, you should not hesitate to contact Bert for any of your renovation needs.

Bert did a flush beam for my basement. He is very knowledgeable, and answered all my concerns in a very professional manner. He went above and beyond to fix an additional issue in the floor. Honest, Fair and Reliable.a true gem in this profession. Definitely recommend any day.
