Bathtub reglazing

This company and their service was incredible. Angela, Tyler, Chris, Kevin and Will are the folks we dealt with for our reglazing on a tub that looks brand new. Appointment booking was easy and painless. Angela is very organized and helpful. Service from the technicians was professional and courteous. Finishing touch and re-assembly of the taps etc. by Will, the Owner, was a nice touch. Could not of asked for more! Thanks Tub Guys!

Tub sanding/reglazing

I cannot believe they have a high rating.

The Tub Guys arrived promptly on February12th to sand and reglaze my tub (I took the day off work). They were done in roughly 2 hrs, sealed the bathroom after they finished and left. We were unable to use the tub for about 48hrs. which was expected. They immediately asked for payment, pulling out the
portable Debit machine and voila we were done. After they left I noticed paint chips throughout the hallway and into the foyer. I thought "did they not have a vacuum?" and got to cleaning. Paint chips are not an easy clean, they stick to the floor and don't come off even with a vacuum, whatever I cleaned it.

They returned 2 days later (Feb 15th) and unsealed the bath, admiring their work, at first glance it looked great. They left and we were done. Upon closer inspection I began to notice several “drip” marks in the finish, some in clusters some on their own, a total of 20 all together. I began to look closer, my wall tile had overspray and the bathroom floor was again covered in paint chips. I got to cleaning.

I called Angela the scheduler and expressed my displeasure.
She said they would address the issues informing me we could use the tub and that it would be fixed but nothing could be done for 3 weeks as the tub needed to cure. She informed me the easiest fix was to sand the drip marks and then “touch them up” . I have a background in industrial finishing and knew this would leave “blotching”, they agreed to a spot sand and a full reglaze. I bought a shower rod and curtain ($30) out of pocket and waited for 3 weeks.

On March 7th, the day they were to arrive, (they give you a very liberal window) between 9AM and 2 PM, I got a call they were running behind. This was around 1PM and Angela told me they would be there soon, no later than 2PM and she would “keep me posted”, 3PM rolled around and still no Tub Guys. I left voicemails but no answer or callback. I had to return to work by 4:00 PM (I took the day off agian), finally at 3.20PM the installer called that he was on his way. I told him not to bother that I had to leave, he semed unconcerned and hung up.
I called Angela, figuring that this reglaze was a priority to fix an coupled with the late arrival they would take care of me and get a person out first thing on Monday as they would be eager to fix the drippy messed up (SEE PHOTOS) finish on the tub.

NOPE! I was berrated by and irate Angela who said I wasted her time by not staying when the refinisher was on his way
and that I had “lost my window” and “that it would be another (get this) 3 weeks until they could return as they were busy, busy, busy. I hung up and called the owner Will, after a short conversation he had the refinisher comeout the following
Monday. He resprayed, sealed the bathroom and we were done.

OR so I thought.

Will came personally on March13th to unviel the newest finish - a SANDPAPERY SPECKLED MESS. At first he said it
”looked great” until he ran his hand over it. He then proceeded to tell me we shoudln’t have sprayed the entire tub, we should have opted for the spot finishing and that this finish was a result of not being able to do more than a light, once over coat” to avoid more “runs”
MORE RUNS??? Simply put their finisher did a light dusting because he doesn’t know how to spray without leaving drip marks! Will then suggested he buff the tub to a smooth shiney finish, but guess what, since it needs to cure we have to wait 3 more weeks. He said we could go ahead and install our Shower enclosure and they would then “buff around it” WHAT?? Does that sound right?

I called Angela to schedule the next buffing appointment. What came next was the kicker, the appointment would be 8 weeks out so THURSDAY MAY 1ST, and if you don’t agree to that date immediately the same day policy expires and you then get MAY 15th!!!

Will then sent this message:

“We physically don't have the ability to meet the time demands being placed on our installers and the reglazing process.
As a result, I will instruct Angela to process your full refund so that you might be able to proceed with your project within your time constraints. I apologize for the inconvenience of any delays that this might have caused you and regret that we were not able to meet your timeline expectations.”

In short the tub is ruined, buffing won’t solve a thing, and you don’t want to wait 8 weeks for buffing so here is your money back.

BTW, where is my refund for 2 lost days of work, and $30 for the shower rod and curtain?? AND WHAT NOW WITH THE TUB??? LEFT HUNG OUT TO DRY.

Unprofessional GONG SHOW!

Company Response

Mark, thank you for your review. However, I am confused, as the specific information in your review is completely contrary to the information both within our service records -- and all verbal communications we had. I would encourage anyone reading this review to read all of our reviews as they better indicate the excellent service we provide. In this circumstance, a full refund was given to this customer in an attempt to satisfy them. Unfortunately, even that was not enough to appease him. We wish this homeowner the best.

Clawfoot bathtub reglazing

Easy to deal with, professional, friendly and efficient. Very thorough prep process, including removing the failed glaze of a competitor, removing tub hardware and protecting floor and walls. After 48 hours curing time we have a beautifully refinished tub. Unlike the hard epoxy finish used by their (more expensive) competition, The Tub Guys' polymer material flexes rather than cracks as the tub expands and contracts. It should last a very long time.

Clawfoot Tub Reglaze

We inherited a dingy old clawfoot bathtub with our new house, which was in good shape but was rusty and some of the finish was chipping off. The previous homeowners had painted the inside with latex wall paint. It was a disaster. I could not be happier with how it looks now - clean, white, shiny. it looks brand new!

I had to book my appointment far in advance, but it was worth the wait. The Tub Guys are awesome.

Bathtub Refinishing

We are so happy we chose The Tub Guys to refinish our bathtub. The colour was a pinky taupe so popular in the 80's. The Tub Guys came when they said they would and left us with a shiny white tub that looks brand new. We are thrilled with the results. Thank you Tub Guys!

refinished claw foot tub

What a joy it is to be able to have a long soak in a gleaming tub. The former owners of my house had painted the old tub with acrylic paint (don't ask). The guys came in and were polite they stripped and refinished the tub in the time that they said they would. I highly recommend them.

Bathtub Reglazing

Been looking for a solution for my sickly pink, slightly anemic looking bathtub for some time now. The summer of love successfully failed my bathtub and left me with very few options. Not to mention, living in a Victorian row house with a 'Being John Malkovich 7 1/2 floor' bathroom of anti-size proportions affords one little creative flair when it comes to tub replacement. Maybe it's the lead in our pipes but people are bigger now. So are most modern tubs.

After several hours on the interwebs I discovered a Toronto based company called 'The Tub Guys'. These 'Tub Guys' specialize in making the bad egg go away. I conducted a fair amount of research and looked into the pros and cons of having my tub reglazed Vs a plastic sheath Vs a complete demolition Vs a DIY disaster. The pros were looking good and I gave 'The Tub Guys' a call.

These 'Tub Guys' are in high demand and there's a good reason their fame proceeds them. You'll need to get a date in their calendar as soon as possible as it seems the '60's were also a little unkind to thousands across the GTA. 'Sick' just isn't a colour.

When the day arrived I was graced with the actual 'Tub Guys'! No impostors, no employees but actual owners. There were two of them, hence the plurality. They were extremely pleasant to deal with and were very careful in the preparation and execution. They left the bathroom in a better state then whence they came. My '60's vomit tub was now a clean, glossy Colgate white. Cost? Negligible. Time? Minimal. Results? Brilliant.
