I can't recommend this company, and everyone should be extremely cautious, as they tried to cut as many corners as possible on things you don't see (e.g the base material and edge restraint). On first glance the patio looks decent, but that's just because the pavers we picked out are nice, and they are new. Some problems below:
1. They didn't install edge restraint, which is completely ridiculous. I ended up having to do this afterwards, once I realized the pavers were shifting at the edges.
2. They used very little base material. I had another contractor come to install a fence and they had to remove a few pavers to dig holes for posts. They essentially said the amount of base material was a joke.
3. They didn't compact the pavers after the first pass of polymeric sand. Some of the pavers rock a little as a result, and the polymeric sand they used is very low quality. I had to sand after they left because they missed a lot of areas.
4. They didn't use tarps on the driveway, didn't clean up and left sand and crushed gravel all over the driveway. I thus, had to spend half a day with my wife cleaning up the driveway. They also dumped a lot of excess sand into the window wells, and left cigarette butts all over the place, knowing we have children.
5. They just aren't good at what they do. The patio isn't level, there are bumps and valleys everywhere. They didn't measure before building the window wells and steps, so one of the window wells isn't parallel to the steps and the other window well. They had to add small pieces of stone to the interlock on one side as a result. The window wells and steps are not parallel to the house. It's really amateur workmanship.
In conclusion, PLEASE be careful. I honestly think the reviews on here are fake. There is no way their patios last, and they are definitely not built properly. The younger workers were nice, but the supervisor Roger was a grumpy old man, who didn't seem to know what he was doing.
The sales guy Jeff was nice, but there was a definite lack of communication between him and the work crew, and the workers showed up with no idea what they were doing on day 1.
I would have called to complain about the edge restraint, but to be honest, I'm not sure I want these guys anywhere near my house again. Not because they are bad people, but because the work was awful. I also think they wanted to get the job done quickly before the long Civic day weekend in August.
I learned a lot about hiring contractors as a result of this. Our previous patio was old and uneven, and having new stone does look far better (even though it was badly installed). I thus paid them without performing a more thorough inspection (I paid them a bit early so Jeff wouldn't have to come back). Next time I won't pay anyone until all the work and clean up is done, and I have thoroughly inspected the work. It's sad that they would do this to a young family. I was really hoping to spend my money on a patio that would last, and after one winter, it's already shifting etc ..
