Sam The Handyman

My husband and I needed our chimney repaired before our new roof could be put on. Even though Sam is very booked up, he still managed to find some time to come over and fix it for us. He is friendly, professional and punctual... and worth the wait if he's booked up! My hubby and I can't wait to use our fireplace now! His quote and his final invoice were identical (no surprises!). His crew cleaned all after done and should not ask for more. Thanks again!

We shopped around quite a bit to find the right company to do our roof. Sam stopped by our house to give us a quote and we were really impressed. One of the first things he said to us was how much he thought it would cost to do our roof. With almost all other companies there was a long and drawn out sales pitch before we even discussed the cost. We got a few other quotes but it was clear to us that Sam the handyman was the company we wanted to do business with. We signed the paperwork with Sam and we were told we would likely get our roof done the following week. Five days later the sun was shining and the roofers were knocking on our door! They did a fantastic job and left our driveway cleaner than it was in the first place. It was a pleasure doing business with Sam and I would highly recommend them to all of my friends and family.

I am a property Manager with properties expanding over Hamilton East to Dundas. Sam the handyman is on my speed dial as we started acquiring their services few years back. I will not be listing all properties here, but his work in roofing, flat roofs, metal roof, brick work and skylight repair is great. I will just talk today about the last job he did for us in a down town apartment building where he re-did with his crew a flat roof.

I know that his prices and services are great, but I usually call other contractors to get other quotes to submit to building owners. For this roof which was just over 4000 sqft. Sam did the whole job with removing, cleaning and applying EPDM for this 1910 building in less than 2 days. The work was done as usual in a very timely fashion.

I do recommend Sam the handyman service to everyone and so happy that he opened his Hamilton location last year.

I can only speak for myself. He attempted to built us a new deck. The workmanship was pure garbage. I met with Sam to go through all of the issues. He is a nice enough fellow but I would highly recommend not using him for two reasons. First off he admitted to me that he is "not a carpenter". He did not even know how to remove a wood railing from a brick wall. He seemed confused when I suggested he use a proper drill bit to remove the railing. He questioned me how to do this (I'm no handyman but know this much). Instead he literally hacked the wood off causing extensive damage. Then he put it back after putting in new deck flooring. He did not secure this properly either. The workmanship was lousy and there were several safety concerns once he was done. Lost $3K on the job as I had zero confidence in his ability to fix what he had done. Had to pay someone else to redo the whole job. At least it was done properly. I gave him a 1 for showing up and for being a nice fellow. My best advise is don't give him any money up front other than for materials. In fact it's probably best to stay away.

Friend of mine referred Sam when I was looking for a contractor to do masonary work at my place. Sam with couple of his guys finished a work that I was told to take few days by other contractors in less than one day. He matched the bricks and fixed the upper part. My insurance examined the chimney few weeks after and all seems in order. Very nice and neat work.

I would HIGHLY recommend Sam. First in the Spring of 2011 he helped fix a chimney job that someone else had botched. The other guy messed it up so bad that Sam had a couple of approaches. The first one did not work and Sam came back right away and fixed it another way with new materials and did not charge me anything and it has been fine all year. Great guy who stands by his work.

Sam's team completed a project in my commercial kitchen which was concrete floor repair, leaks, and they installed a hood for my range. On time, polite, easy to work with. Highly recommend and will call again for future jobs.
